Chapter 7 - Breaking Through the Defense Line

Outside the castle walls, what he told me pricked my heart a little.

While giving orders to the castle soldiers, Amano-san was right next to me as he said that.

When the soldier reported that, it caused a commotion throughout the place.

I gently placed my own hand on the bow that he was gripping in his hand.

When I nodded, the fear wouldn't leave me.

Amano-san looked at me worriedly. 

Amano: Once this is over, won't you come see the wisteria flowers with me again-

Lookout Soldier: Amano-sama, big trouble! The monster that went through the final defense line is quickly approaching the outside of the castle walls!

At that moment, I heard a familiar voice from the outside walls. 

Amano: Run!! MC!!

As it felt like time was going in slow motion, I turned towards that voice.

The monster that was approaching raised it's colossal claws up high. Unable to do anything else, I closed my eyes and at that moment...

At that moment, I heard some loud cheers from outside of the castle walls. 

Soldier: Reinforcements! Reinforcements from Avalon* have showed up!?

When I looked over to what the person was shouting about, I saw a familiar looking emblem through the gap of the wall that has crumbled down earlier. As the soldiers strongly raised their voices all at once, the situation has changed completely. 

MC: ...!

The moment I got distracted by the loud shouts that were made near the outside walls, the monster started attacking again. 

Amano: MC!!

Just as I heard him call out my name again, multiple arrows penetrated the monster. 

MC: !!

When he showed himself before me, the corner of my eyes became warm.

Amano: Are you okay!? 

Nocking an arrow on the bow, Amano-san stood in front of me to protect me from the monster. 

MC: Amano-san!? Why are you here...!?
