Chapter 7 - Sento Gabriel 

-Flashback-

Douglas: I know, MC, how about we go treasure hunting together? 

-Flashback-

Since I'll be going with Douglas-san to go treasure hunting, we headed to the ship... 

After walking in the port city for a while, I was suddenly standing before a huge ship. 

MC: Amazing... 

As it looked like a fort with overwhelming strength, I looked up at it... 

Douglas: Let me introduce you. This is the Sento Gabriel. 

After saying that, Douglas-san led me into the ship. 

MC: Wow... It's hard to believe that this is a ship. 

Douglas: Right? 

As Douglas-san smiled proudly beside me, I looked around the area. All of the people that passed by gave us friendly greetings. 

Sailor: Welcome, Lady. Captain, you've brought in another cute girl!

Douglas: Hey, hey, don't say such bad things about me!

Douglas-san shouted that a bit irritated. 

(They sure get along... The cheerful atmosphere here is nice.) 

While watching, I broke into a smile with a chuckle... 

Chapter 8 - West Ocean Hall

While walking inside the ship that was like the inside of a castle, the people we passed by greeted us with smiles. Douglas-san stood in front of a door, he turned towards me. 

Douglas: This is my room. 

Saying that proudly, Douglas-san opened the door and led me inside. 

MC: P-Pardon the intrusion. 

Douglas: Go ahead. 

After bowing lightly, I went inside one step at a time, but... My noisy heart was far from calming down and my pulse increased as I was walking. 

(This is... Douglas-san's room.) 

When I looked around, it was luxurious with a lot of space and wasn't like what I thought the inside of a ship would be like.

MC: Pretty... It's like a suite room in a hotel. 

Douglas: It's too much space for just me. Which is why it's all right for you to move in whenever you want, MC. 

MC: Eh!? 

Douglas: Haha, just kidding. 

Douglas-san made a mischievous smile. 

(T-That was surprising...) 

When I used my hands to hide my red cheeks, I looked around the room to avoid Douglas-san's gaze. Then... 

MC: This is...? 

My eyes stopped at something that looked like a map that was spread out on the desk. 

Douglas: Ah, this is the sea chart that I've received today. In northeast of here, there's an ocean trench called the Ocean West Hall... 

I tilted my head to the side from the words I've never heard before. Then, noticing my reaction, Douglas-san patted my head. 

Douglas: It's okay if you don't understand. Before we head to the ocean trench, we need to get the news about the driftwood that has gathered in that area because of the current. 

MC: Driftwood... 

Douglas: It's possible that the cargo from a ship that went shipwrecked a long time ago have sunken in that area. 

After hearing that, all the doubts within me have went away and only hope has risen. 

MC: Then... What you're looking for over there is your father's keepsake? 

Douglas: That's right, correct! Tomorrow morning, the ship will be heading out while it's still dark out. That place isn't that dangerous, so you'll be having fun sightseeing on this voyage. 

MC: Okay...!

Filled with expectations, I nodded deeply. 

(Somehow, I'm feeling excited...!)

When we left Douglas-san's room, we headed to the deck of the ship and over there, a large number of sailors have gathered around. 

Douglas: Tomorrow morning, we depart, so get ready everyone! Navigator, we're going to have a strategy meeting. 

After Douglas-san shouted that, the sailors' strong responses were heard.

Chapter 9 - A Black Ship

Douglas: Tomorrow morning, we depart, so get ready everyone! Navigator, we're going to have a strategy meeting. 

-Flashback-

The voyage was in good condition. Since I wasn't used to living on a ship, the day continued going by as I wasn't feeling well. 

Douglas: If we keep taking this course, we'll be halfway there. 

Douglas-san murmured that and then, the next day... 

When night has brightened up, the morning sunlight shined in through the gap of the curtains. As I slowly opened my eyes, I heard the lively voices of the sailors. 

(I wonder when I fell asleep...) 

After I got dressed quickly, I left the cabin and...

Sailor 1: Princess! Good morning. Please take your time to rest.

The sailor that passed by called out to me. 

MC: Good morning. Even though everyone is busy working, being the only one resting is... Is there anything I can do to help? 

Then, the sailor waved his large hands in front of his face as he frowned. 

Sailor 1: Don't be absurd...! We're almost setting sail, so please take it easy.

MC: But...

Sailor 2: That's right, Princess! If we let the captain's most important guest work, he'll yell at us!

MC: I see... Then, I'll do as you say. 

Giving up on helping, I started walking aimlessly to the deck of the ship. When I leaned on the handrail at the deck and looked down, the morning sunlight that was reflecting on the clear blue ocean entered my vision. 

MC: Wow, pretty... 

While looking at the endless ocean, I suddenly thought of Douglas-san. 

(I hope we find Douglas-san's father's keepsake...) 

The beautiful clear water made expectations increase in my heart and at that moment... 

(That ship is...?) 

I noticed a ship with a black sail approaching as it was keeping it's pace with us. 

(Could that ship belong to a friend of Douglas-san's?) 

When I thought of that question, my eyes followed that ship and... 

MC: ...!? 

Someone grabbed me from behind and covered my mouth. 

(Who...!?)

I tried to get away, but I was unable to move my body as they restrained me strongly. Even so, I used all my strength to escape and struggled... 

Sailor 2: There have been traces of someone breaking into the ship's hold. 

Douglas: When did you notice this? 

Sailor 2: Let's see, it was... 

Douglas-san and a sailor appeared on the deck with perfect timing. 

(Douglas-san...!) 

During the middle of their conversation, they noticed a presence and Douglas-san looked over here. 

Douglas: ...!

The moment they saw me being captured by someone, Douglas-san's face became filled with anger that instant. 

Douglas: MC!

Douglas-san glared at the person behind me. 

Douglas: Who are you!

Man 2: Me? I'm just someone who's in the same business as you.

Douglas: What... 

As Douglas-san clenched his fist, he came over here. Then... 

Man 2: Whoa there, come any closer and I'll hurt this cute lady's face. 

After saying that, the man pricked a knife against my face. 

MC: ...

Douglas: Stop! 

Man 2: That's right, get agitated. What we want is the new sea chart. Once we get that, we'll return this lady to you. 

When the man laughed creepily, I was slowly being dragged away. 

Douglas: Hey! What do you think you're doing with her!

Man 2: If you want the lady back, bring us the sea chart. 

After the man said that, he picked me up and quickly got on the black ship that suddenly came alongside. 

Douglas: MC!

MC: Douglas-san!

Our voices echoed throughout the vast ocean many times. I couldn't do anything, but watch as Douglas-san's form was gradually getting smaller... 

Last Chapter - I Won't Let You Go

...

MC got kidnapped by an unknown man. Douglas immediately gave orders to the sailors. 

Douglas: Everyone, listen up! Some guy has broken into the ship and kidnapped MC. Those guys are retreating by going in the opposite direction of the route we're taking. Let's go after them immediately and rescue MC!

Soon after, the sailors moved quickly. 

Douglas: Dammit! What was I doing! 

Douglas strongly clenched his fist. 

Douglas: Ever since MC came, I've been letting my guard down... 

Sailor: Douglas-sama... 

Douglas: ...I'll recover. If I can't protect one single woman, how can I protect the peace of the ocean! Get closer to the ship! I'm getting on!

Just as they were alongside the ship, Douglas went up ahead.

When I got kidnapped by some unknown person by force, I've been thinking on ways of escaping from the men that were watching me.

(There's no chance for me to escape. But, we're in the middle of the ocean... What am I supposed to do...) 

As I was at a loss at that moment... Douglas-san suddenly came to mind. 

(Douglas-san...) 

Man 1: Hey, Princess, what's with that face? 

Man 2: There's nothing to be afraid of. 

Man 1: Don't worry, once we get the sea chart, we'll get you go. Before that... Let's have a little fun. 

When the man made a creepy smile, he slowly got closer. Then, he looked at my body from up to down as if he was examining me. 

Man 1: ...You have a pretty nice body. 

MC: !

I felt a chill go down my spine. 

MC: Don't...!

Just as the man was about to reach for my chest at that moment... The door to the cabin was opened loudly. 

Douglas: MC!

MC: Douglas-san!

The moment I saw him, I felt warmth rising within me. 

Man 1: Oh, you came, Douglas. Did you bring the sea chart? 

Douglas: I'm not handing over the sea chart to you guys... Just give back MC. 

As I was feeling scared, Douglas-san's deep voice that was filled with anger was heard within the ship. 

Man 1: What...!? 

With that word as a signal, the men attacked Douglas-san. 

When Douglas-san evaded the men and ran over here, he quickly held my body. 

Douglas: Sorry for being late. 

MC: I believed... that you would come get me. 

Douglas: ...Such passionate words. 

As I was wrapped in those large arms, I placed my hands around Douglas-san's back. While he protected me from the men's attacks one after another, he retreated through the exit of the cabin. 

Douglas: MC's safety is our top priority. Let's retreat before she gets hurt. 

Douglas-san gave that order to the escape boat from the deck. 

Sailor: Roger! Changing courses! 

Douglas: Yeah. We'll shake those guys off at this rate. ...The smart thing to do is to retreat to the port town. 

(Retreat... We're going to run away?)

Douglas: If we keep taking this course, we'll be halfway there. 

-Flashback-

(Even though we came all the way here... We were getting close to Douglas-san's father's keepsake.)

MC: Douglas-san, please wait!

Before I knew it, I grabbed his arm. 

MC: I'm fine. So, let's go look for your father's keepsake!

Douglas: MC...? 

When I grabbed Douglas-san, his eyes widened at that moment... 

Douglas: Well, aren't you a good girl... 

He grinned soon after. 

Douglas: Then, I'm going to have to beat up every one of these guys!

When Douglas-san softly touched my cheek for a moment, he faced the men again. In the midst of the battle, I didn't feel scared for some odd reason.

When I thought of that, my worries went away somehow.

Before I knew it, Douglas-san had taken down all of the men in the black ship. 

Douglas: How unexpected... That was too easy. 

MC: Thank you so much... Ah!

I was pulled into Douglas-san's arms again. 

Douglas: Sorry for putting you in danger. 

MC: ...Douglas-san. 

Douglas: ...I won't let you go. 

When he whispered that in my ear, Douglas-san hugged me more strongly than before...

Sailor: Princess! You're all right...!

When we returned to the ship, the sailors spoke altogether with worried looks. 

MC: I'm sorry for making you all worry... 

Just as I lightly bowed, Douglas-san pulled my hand as we entered his room. 

MC: Douglas-san...!? 

I looked up at his face in surprise and at the same time, he pulled me towards him. My face was in Douglas-san's chest as I collided against him. 

MC: ...

I didn't want to let Douglas-san know about my loud heartbeat as it was going fast. 

Douglas: I told you that I wouldn't let you go. 

MC: Douglas-san... 

Douglas: I'll stay by your side and protect you. No... I will protect you. 

When Douglas-san said that, he hugged me strongly again. I felt a slight pain in my heart from his heartrending words. 

Douglas: Just like my old man when he protected me and my mom, I'll do the same to protect this ocean, my friends... and the woman that's special to me. 

MC: Douglas-san...

When I said his name, Douglas-san instantly loosens his hold around me. Then... 

Douglas: Do you think I'm greedy? 

He looked at me with a bit of an embarrassed smile. 

MC: Yes... But, that's because you're a pirate, Douglas-san. 

When I told him my feelings that were filling my heart up, I gave him a smile. 

Douglas: I see. I'm no match for you, MC. 

MC: I'm sure that we'll find your father's keepsake. 

Douglas: ...Yeah, surely. 

With my heart pounding, I felt Douglas-san's warmth as we lightly nodded to each other...
