Chapter 7 - Going After Bandits in Town

Subordinate 2: Gary-sama! Gary-sama, another bandit is...!

After hearing the subordinate that ran over here in a hurry, Gary-san frowned. 

Gary: ...Again. 

MC: Gary-san, are you going out again? 

Gary: Yeah. I can't leave people along when they're in trouble. It'd be nice if it could be peaceful for a bit... 

After saying that, Gary-san made a bitter expression. 

MC: Then, I'll...

Gary: No, it's okay. If I'm going to leave just to take care of a bandit... 

Gary-san stopped his words there. 

(Does he want to say that the curse won't be an issue...?) 

Even so, he refused to back down and gallantly mounted a horse. 

Gary: Wait in the cabin. I'll be back soon. 

MC: Ah... 

When he left without a moment to stop, only silence was called upon the forest...

Chapter 8 - Flames of Rage

After getting the news about a bandit appearing, so much time has passed since Gary-san left. When I did as Gary-san said and waited in the cabin... There was a knock on the cabin's entrance. 

(Has Gary-san returned?) 

As my heart skipped a beat, I opened the door and... 

Man 1: Where's Prince Gary? 

Two muscular men stood at the door. 

MC: Eh...? 

(They know Gary-san's identity...?) 

When I got a bad feeling and tried to close the door in a panic, they quickly extended their hands and stopped me.

Man 1: Looks like the prince isn't here. 

Man 2: In that case, we'll take you as hostage to lure in Prince Gary. Get over here. 

MC: No... Stop!

Man 2: You...! Just do as we say!

I desperately tried to resist when my arm was grabbed and then, the man hit me in the cheek with great force. 

MC: !!

At that moment, I fell to the floor. 

Man 2: So troublesome. 

As pain and fear went through my head, I couldn't move my body. Just as my arm was grabbed and was pulled again. 

MC: !? 

An arrow from a bow gun cutting through the wind and piercing something was heard. 

Man 2: Gyaah!!

The man that grabbed my arm was deeply stabbed by the bow gun arrow. 

Man 1: W-What!? 

Gary: What are you doing...

MC: Gary-san!

As it looked like there were flames of rage behind Gary-san, he reached for another bow gun arrow. 

Gary: I'll shoot for your heart next. 

Man 1: Eek...!

Gary-san slowly readied his bow gun. 

Man 2: T-This guy is serious. 

Gary: You guys, that girl is my subordinate. Let go of MC... I won't forgive you... I'll kill you...!

While aiming for the men that were running away, Gary-san shot the bow gun at them. 

MC: G-Gary-san!!

My body froze from shivering in fear as Gary-san shot out arrows with a cold angry look. 

Man 1: Ugh...!

One of the men fell. When Gary-san approached that man, he placed the tip of a bow gun arrow against the middle of his forehead. 

Man 2: Eek, a-ah... H-Help. 

MC: Gary-san!!

As one of the men was somewhat in a daze, I was unable to move my feet from there. 

Gary: I'll send you to hell along with that detestable woman right now. 

As he was under the control of his hatred, his deep angry voice reached my ears. Unable to take it, I used all my strength to shout. 

MC: Stop...!

After some time, I crouched down. 

Gary: ...

Sensing someone standing before me, I slowly looked up. 

Gary: It looks like... I lost to the curse... 

Behind Gary-san, I saw that the two men have fallen. His empty hollow eyes silently blinked... 

Chapter 9 - A Spiral of Hatred

Gary: It looks like... I lost to the curse... 

When Gary-san murmured that with an absentminded look, he slowly turned his back on me. 

MC: Gary-san!

Gary: Leave me alone!

MC: !

Just as I clung onto him without thinking, he pushed my hand away. He looked at me with a burning anger in his eyes. Although, when my body trembled from being startled... 

Gary: I... What am I... 

Gary-san's face became strained as if he had regained consciousness. 

MC: Gary-san, are you okay!? 

Gary: ...It hurts. Hatred is all jumbled up in my body...

MC: Pull yourself together, Gary-san!

As Gary-san's face was strained in pain, he held his head and fell to his knees. I softly placed my hand on his back. 

Gary: Please. Just... leave me alone. If I'm alone, no one will get hurt... 

MC: That's not true! If you go off somewhere, Gary-san... Even though... You did that sort of thing to save me. 

Gary: ...It's because of the curse. Everything... is all that woman's fault!!

MC: Stop, Gary-san...!

When I thought about Gary-san's gentle smile, I became filled with pain. 

Gary: ...I...

MC: ...Someday, I'm sure that you won't be filled with hatred. For that reason, please let me stay with you. I want to save you. 

When Gary-san extended a trembling hand, he hugged me tightly. 

Gary: Thank you... MC...

The words that he squeezed out made my heart tighten in pain... 

Last Chapter - A Flicker of Light in the Intense Darkness

After that... Once Gary-san was completely out of the curse's control, it felt like it was just the two of us in the middle of nowhere. When the warm lights in town were starting to light up, we were warming ourselves up with an open fire. 

MC: Are you worried? 

I asked that as Gary-san was looking at the town in a daze. 

(Even though he thinks about the kingdom more than anyone... He can't get close to it.) 

Gary: No... Are you sad? From being with me. 

MC: ...We're together, so I'm not sad. 

Within the deep forest, we huddled up together with our shoulders touching. 

Gary: I couldn't find a way to free myself from the curse today too. If you continue to stay with me, you'll have to continue living like this... 

The crackling burning fire shined on his deep dark eyes. 

MC: I want to continue searching for a way to free you from the curse with you like this. 

Gary: Even if that sort of thing may not be possible? 

MC: It will be. I'm sure of it. 

When I smiled with all my might... Gary-san hugged me without saying anything. 

MC: Gary-san...? 

At that moment, he deeply kissed me by force.

The kiss that was like a strike made me feel like there was nowhere to go...

As a response to his feelings, my lips overlapped with his. 

Gary: MC... 

After the very long kiss, Gary-san's lips parted from mine reluctantly and looked at me closely. Then...

The next moment, he hugged me strongly again. 

Gary: MC... I... I'm scared. Now knowing what I'll do to you and those who are important to me when the curse takes full control over me... I'll end up causing harm until then... No, I'll probably end up killing you. 

MC: Gary-san... That's not true... 

Just as I was about to deny that, he put more strength into his arms and hugged me tightly.

His eyes that were showing an intense darkness in front of me were deeply clear like the blue night sky right now. 

(Such lonely looking eyes...) 

Even though we're always together and we're this close to each other, this person is always making a sad face for some reason. Then...

The feelings of being hit by kisses were all downpouring on me again. Next, his lips were at a different spot.

He pushed me against a large tree.

When I entrusted my body to his arms, I looked up at his teary eyes and thought that they were really like the night sky. An intense darkness. Even so, a bright light exists in them.
