Chapter 5 - Being Called by Grad

-Flashback-

Grad: I somehow don't get it, but the moment I saw the bread, my heart was going fast... Yet, when I thought that I couldn't eat it, I got irritated... This is a first for me, the first time I've thought about food like this...!

As I thought about Grad-kun running away, I felt pain. Although... 

Butler: MC-sama, may I have a bit of your time? 

MC: Ah, yes. Go ahead. 

When the butler silently opened the door, he walked over to me. Then... 

Butler: Grad-sama is waiting for you here. 

As the butler said that, he handed me a map that had a mark on it. 

MC: This is... 

Butler: He didn't give me the full details either, but... His message was, "I want you to bring the bread from earlier here". 

MC: Eh...? 

As I was unable to understand Grad-kun's intentions, I headed to where he was waiting according to the map...

After he said that, he raised his face and looked straight at me.

The moment I thought of that, I relaxed a little... and nodded deeply towards Grad-kun... 

Last Chapter - First Time Tasting

Grad: ...I must've made you confused earlier. Sorry. I called you over here to talk to you properly. 

-Flashback-

In a corner of the gloomy town, Grad-kun was looking at me with a serious expression. The sad sounding cries of the birds in the heavily cloudy sky sounded distant. 

Grad: I... I don't really get it. Our household rules over the desire to eat everything in the world greedily. That's why I've never held any interest in anything besides food, but... ... 

Grad-kun stopped his words there. Although, as soon as he spoke... 

Grad: Yet, why do I want you? Liking someone, that's what doesn't fill up the stomach. I don't know the flavor of love, so being with you was causing pain in the area above my stomach. I just didn't understand it... 

MC: Grad-kun...

Even though Grad-kun was confused, he was telling me how he felt. Seeing him like that, I...

Grad: I've never thought about food tasting good or bad. But, your bread that smelled so good... I thought it was good... Because of that, not thinking about food tasting good or bad... It was the worst. I was... afraid of that. 

MC: Grad-kun...

(To think that he was thinking like that...) 

When my heart suddenly became filled with love, it was making me feel pain too. 

Grad: But... But, I'm okay now. I've prepared myself. 

MC: Eh...? 

His bright eyes on his cute, freckled face were looking straight at me. 

Grad: Once I eat your bread, I'll try to understand all sorts of things somehow. ...Like, uh, being a pair? Of lovers? That kind of... feeling. 

MC: ...! Then... 

Just as I became happy about Grad-kun's determination, I brought out the bread that I was holding. Then... 

Grad: Mm... 

MC: ...!

When Grad-kun approached my hand, he took a bite of the bread. The sweet scent that it was emittingly lightly didn't seem to be the scent of the gum that Grad-kun usually eats. 

Grad: It's good... More... 

As Grad-kun looked at me pleadingly, he softly whispered that to me. His eyes that were looking at me within the close distance were absorbingly charming... 

MC: ...Okay. 

When I nodded, Grad-kun took a bite of the bread again. 

Grad: To think that... bread had this kind of flavor. 

MC: Does it usually taste different? 

Grad: It doesn't taste different. I'm just... savoring it properly. It's probably because you made it... and that I'm with you. It tastes really... really good. 

After one bite after another, he filled his mouth with the bread that was in my hand... Grad-kun smiled happily. 

Grad: Thank you, MC. 

When he looked at me for the first time, his wholehearted happy smile took hold of my heart... As I felt my cheeks getting warm, I nodded to Grad-kun's words. Just like when Grad-kun mentioned "a pair of lovers", our hearts and stomachs were becoming a bit more satisfied...
