Chapter 7 - A Hal-Like Kingdom

A few days later since the king has collapsed, he has recovered peacefully. During that time, Hal has been doing his best to support the kingdom in his place. 

Haldine: It was troubling being my old man's replacement, but it looks like I'll be doing a lot more after this. 

One day in the early afternoon, Hal suddenly said that determinedly. 

Haldine: ...But, you know. I wonder how I can inherit the kingdom like this... 

Hal made a bit of a troubled expression as he looked up at the sky.

MC: Hmm... Hal, what kind of kingdom do you want? 

Haldine: Let's see. A fun one that has everyone smiling... and everyday is like a festival. 

MC: How Hal-like. 

When I imagined that kind of kingdom, I smiled. 

Haldine: Like a festival... I know!

Hal suddenly brightened up. 

Haldine: There's something that I want to try out!

MC: Eh...? 

Haldine: Sugar, you help out too!

MC: O-Okay... 

Hal tightly held both of my hands in excitement... 

Chapter 8 - A Moment in the Water Hole

The next day... Hal invited out to the forest. 

MC: Hey, Hal. Where are we going? 

Haldine: You'll see soon. 

As Hal held my hand tightly, we headed deeper into the forest. Among the trees, there was a trail showing... 

Haldine: We're here!

Over there was a large lake that was like an ocean. 

MC: Wow... Pretty. 

As the sunlight was reflecting on the lake's surface, it shined brightly. 

Haldine: Hey! Isn't it nice? 

MC: Yes. It's really pretty. But, Hal. Why are we here? 

Haldine: Don't you think this kingdom's climate is a little humid? So, I thought that the people can use this place as a water hole. 

(A water hole... Does he mean like a pool?) 

Haldine: Today, we're going to try it out! Actually, this is my secret spot. Even though the water is pretty, it feels nice to play in whenever it's hot out, so I can't hog such a place all to myself. 

MC: Yes, everyone will be overjoyed!

Haldine: But, the path is steep, so it'll be dangerous to walk here from town... 

MC: True, it was quite a challenge...

Haldine: But, aside from that now!

MC: Hal...!? 

Suddenly, there was a sound of a splash. Hal jumped into the lake without warning. 

Haldine: We can deal with the difficult stuff later! I want to have fun with you today. 

(Even though he's in his clothes...) 

As Hal was feeling good from swimming in the lake, he made a cheerful face like a child. 

Haldine: You come in too, Sugar!

MC: But, I didn't bring a swimsuit to change into. 

Haldine: Can't you do what I did? 

When Hal said that, he made a mischievous smile... 

MC: ...!? H-Hal!

Hal suddenly pulled my hand and I ended up falling into the water with him. Surprised by how cold it was, I clung onto him tightly. 

Haldine: You seem to be having fun too just now. Wasn't that nice of me? 

MC: Geez! Hal!

Haldine: How fun!

As Hal held me tightly in his arms, the lake's surface shined as the bright sunlight was reflected on it.

Water was dripping from his hair. Seeing how beautiful he looked with his hair and clothes all wet made me speechless. 

Haldine: Doesn't it feel good, Sugar? 

MC: Yes.... 

I was unable to nod as my heart was beating. As my clothes were sticking onto me, I could feel Hal's warmth from his masculine body. 

Haldine: Let's swim, Sugar! Come.

MC: Eh...? Ah. 

Instead of waiting for my response, Hal went swimming. 

(I guess so. Since I'm here, I'll have some fun.) 

After a while, I got out of the lake and... 

Haldine: Ah... Sugar. 

Hal slowly approaches my face. 

(Eh...?) 

My heartbeat became even louder and at that moment...

Haldine: They're showing. 

Hal whispered that to me. 

MC: ...!

Feeling embarrassed, my face instantly became hot. I covered myself up in a panic by holding myself in my arms...

MC: ...!

Hal suddenly held me strongly. 

Haldine: Don't show that to other guys. You're too attractive. 

As he was holding my wet body, it felt like we can hear each other's heartbeats like this...

Chapter 9 - Secret Plan

A few days later... Inside the castle, Hal opening up the water hole to the people has become a hot topic. 

Maid 1: Is Haldine-sama serious? 

Maid 2: Isn't he just doing it on a whim as usual? 

Castle Guard: But, it sounds like fun. 

It felt like the gossip was filled with half-anticipation and half-uneasiness, but... The king seemed happy since this is the first time that Hal is doing something for the kingdom by himself. 

I was helping him out with the preparations in opening up the water hole.

Haldine: There really is a lot that needs to be done. Not only does the path in the forest has to be taken care of, all of the sharp rocks at the bottom of the lake need to be removed. The quality of the water too, I think it's harmless, but... Just in case, it needs to be properly checked. 

(...Such a serious look.) 

Halding: Sorry for making you help, Sugar. 

MC: It's okay. I want to hurry and see everyone's happy faces. 

When I said that, Hal made a happy look. 

MC: By the way, Hal, what's that? 

In Hal's room, there was a cluster of something round. 

Haldine: That's still a secret.

As I made a puzzled look, Hal made a mischievous smile... 

Last Chapter - Underneath the Gorgeous Night Sky

Finally, it was the opening day of the water hole... The climate was humid and hot, which makes it the perfect day to swim. 

At the lake, a lot of the townspeople that heard about the news came. 

Townsperson 1: This feels nice!

Townsperson 2: Yeah, I can come here every day, even when it's not hot out!

The townspeople were saying good things about it one after another. 

(That's good...) 

Haldine: Everyone seems to be enjoying themselves!

Hal smiled with a satisfied look. 

Haldine: It's all thanks to you helping me, Sugar. Thank you. 

MC: It's because you were working hard, Hal. 

Haldine: Then, it's because of both of us!

Hal watched everyone enjoying themselves with his beautiful purple eyes. 

Haldine: I... I really do like everyone's smiles. I want a kingdom where people smile like this all the time. 

MC: ...Yes. 

Haldine: Well, I can't just only do fun things. Even so, that's the only thing that I want to do. 

When Hal said that, he suddenly held me. 

MC: H-Hal? 

Hal's purple eyes were shining in the sunlight. The beauty of those eyes and his face filled with hope took my breath away... 

Halding: It's thanks to you. 

(Eh...) 

Haldine: If I haven't met you, I would've kept on running away forever. For the first time, I was thinking seriously. I want to inherit the kingdom, but I want to do it in my own way no matter what. 

Hal's gentle gaze filled me with warm feelings. 

Haldine: I found the answer that I was looking for. 

MC: That's... I didn't do anything. 

Haldine: MC. 

(...!) 

When Hal suddenly said my name, my heart skipped a beat. 

Haldine: I, you...

Hal's face was getting closer and just as our lips were about to meet... 

Townsperson 1: Haldine-sama! Where are you!? Come in with us!

We heard a townsperson cheerfully calling for Hal. 

Haldine: Yeah! I'm coming in now! Even though we were at a good moment. Well, this'll do for now. 

MC: !

When Hal lightly kissed my cheek, he lets go of me and walked towards the lake. 

(My face is hot...) 

My heartbeat became noisy...

That night... After the townspeople went home, Hall called me over to the prairie. 

Haldine: There's something I want to show you. 

When Hal suddenly got up, he snapped his fingers. Then... A bright light went up and the starry sky became filled with a whole bunch of fireworks. 

MC: ...Pretty. 

Haldine: If it's a festival, you need this, right? The townspeople can see them too. 

Hal smiled at me. As I watched the fireworks being launched up into the night sky one after another, I remembered the round things that were in his room. 

MC: Hal, could it be that... 

Haldine: Yeah, this is a gift for you. 

MC: For me... That makes me happy. Thank you, Hal!

When Hal gently looked at me in satisfaction, he wrapped his hands around my back and hugged me. 

Haldine: I love you, MC. 

MC: Hal... 

Then, he continued from before... Slowly taking his time, he placed his lips over mine. 

MC: ...

Haldine: I need you in order to be myself. 

When our lips parted from each other, Hal affectionately whispered that to me. As I felt his breath in my ear, my body became warm. 

MC: ...

He placed a kiss against my nape. 

Haldine: I want to hear how you feel. 

When Hal traced my back with his finger just now, my body felt like it was about to jump. 

(Since the first time we've met, I was always getting dragged around by Hal's pace. But... It was fun.) 

MC: Me too... I love you, Hal. 

After Hal heard that, he made a satisfied smile and snatched my lips away again. 

MC: Mm... 

As more and more of his sweet breath went inside me, I felt his finger tracing my skin. 

Haldine: MC, I want you. Stay with me forever. 

While feeling Hal's body heat, I slowly closed my eyes... I couldn't even hear the sound of the fireworks that were being launched. 

(I want to be with Hal forever...) 

Behind my closed eyes, I could faintly see Hal's kingdom overflowing with people's smiles. Although, right now... 

(I can't think of anything else besides Hal.) 

Underneath the night sky of dancing lights, we wanted each other...
