Heldt - Prince of Vealoth - Sun End

Chapter 6 - An Unfair Method

-Flashback-

Heldt: I'll hold the corrupted beastmen back here. Once you arrive at the castle, let someone know about this. Even though it might be scary to be by yourself, I'll follow after you. So... Please.

-Flashback-

While the villagers were running in a panic, since we were in a situation where we couldn't waste a second, I readied myself.

MC: Okay. Heldt, I'll go call for help.

As Heldt pointed the gun at Stahl...

Heldt: Yeah, please do.

While I was feeling hesitant when he said that, I ran off towards the castle.

Stahl: Fool. You're wide open!

Just as Stahl shouted that, something jumped out from beneath a house. It was a corrupted beastman that was disguised as a villager.

MC: !?

Without giving me a moment to be surprised, the hooded covered beastman got in position and aimed a gun at me...

Heldt: MC! Look out!

Just as Heldt shouted that, there was the sound of a gunshot.

Right at that moment, I felt a strong impact against my body and fell onto the ground...

Chapter 7 - A Wolf Responding

Right at the same time the sound of a gunshot was heard, I felt a strong impact against my body.

MC: Uu...

When the taste of dirt mixed with gravel was spreading in my mouth, I came to my senses.

MC: ...

(Just what...?)

After my body fell onto the ground, I slowly got up and...

Heldt: ...Are you okay?

My eyes met with Heldt's as he was crouched down beside me.

MC: Heldt!? That injury...

There was blood flowing down from his shoulder.

Heldt: I'm okay, it's just a flesh wound.

Heldt said that with a smile, but his face was clearly pale.

MC: Just what happened...

Heldt: A corrupted beastman was disguising himself as a villager. I shot that guy.

(I see... I...)

I remembered that a hooded person had a gun aimed at me.

(Then, the impact that I felt right at the same time...)

Heldt held his shoulder that had been shot with a pained look on his face.

(Heldt protected me...)

MC: I'm sorry... We need to hurry and stop the bleeding...!

Heldt: That's quite a face you're making. This sort of thing is nothing.

Stahl: Hmph. Now's not the time to show off.

We became surrounded by Stahl and his friends.

Stahl: Since that red cloak is going to be torn to shreds, I'll take my time to end your life.

MC: ...!

As Stahl was glaring at us, I stood in front of Heldt, but...

Heldt: ...

Heldt slowly got up and held me to protect me.

MC: Heldt...

Heldt: I promised that I would protect you... I won't let you go.

There was a strong determination and fighting spirit swaying in his eyes.

(But... There's so many of them.)

Stahl: ...Then, I'll let you die peacefully!

When he got in position with a gun and aimed it at Heldt, the corrupted beastmen sprung at us. At that moment... A large wolf jumped at a corrupted beastman.

Corrupted Beastman 1: Guwah!

Corrupted Beastman 2: What the!?

From all over the forest, similar wolves came jumping out continously and attacked the corrupted beastmen.

MC: ...!?

Heldt: Those guys are Vim's...?

As the wolves were taking down the corrupted beastmen one after another, Heldt widened his eyes, but...

Heldt: Haha... That guy, looks like I finally got through to him.

MC: Eh...?

Heldt: Don't worry. These guys are friends of the Prince of Besmaar. In other words, they're our allies.

As they weren't looking at us, it was certain that the wolves were only attacking the corrupted beastmen.

Heldt: I'll give you the full details later. Right now... You should get to safety where the villagers are.

MC: Okay.

When Heldt staggered as he got up, he straightened himself and shouted.

Heldt: As the protector of the people that's cladded in holy red.

The wolves responded to those words by gathering around Heldt.

Heldt: And the heroic warriors of Besmaar, let us show you our strength!

Along with the wolves, Heldt fought against the corrupted beastmen.

(Heldt...!)

As he didn't look like he was injured with those agile movements, Heldt defeated the corrupted beastmen. The villagers that were watching him got up.

Man 1: We'll fight too!

Man 2: Everyone! Keep it up with Heldt-sama!

With items that could be used as weapons in their hands, they ran towards the corrupted beastmen. When I ran over to a safe spot where the injured villagers were, I watched from afar.

Stahl: ...Dammit!

When the wolves cornered Stahl, he fell to the ground and became unable to move.

Heldt: Stahl, it's unfortunate.

Once Heldt captured Stahl, his red cloak fluttered. As that red was being raised by the blowing wind, the villagers surrounded him and yelled victoriously...

Last Chapter - A Vow in the Flower Field

A few days later since Stahl, the leader of the corrupted beastmen, was arrested... Underneath the clear blue sky, Heldt and I went to the flower field that we went to before.

Heldt: Sorry. For bringing you here so suddenly.

As he said that, he looked at me worriedly.

MC: I'm okay. But, what about you, are you okay? Your injury...

When I asked that, he smiled softly as if it was nothing.

Heldt: Yeah. My injury has healed up completely. Because I have you smiling beside me.

I remembered what he told me on the day when Stahl and the others had been arrested.

-Flashback-

MC: Heldt... I'm sorry. It's my fault that you got injured...

Heldt: Ah. Don't cry. You're not allowed to cry. Seeing you make that kind of face makes it hurt even more. Besides, your smile is the most effective on my injury.

-Flashback-

(Even though he said something like that... That wasn't just a light wound.)

Since then, Heldt has been giving medical treatment to the injured people and has been busy with executing the pact with Besmaar this whole time.

(He has been holding back on himself...)

When I thought about his injury that still remains underneath the red cloak, my heart felt a sharp pain.

Heldt: Geez... How many times do I have to tell you not to make that face.

MC: I'm sorry...

Heldt: Smile. It finally feels like that everyone has come to a close.

As he stretched out greatly, his body was basked in most of the sunlight.

Heldt: Now that we have secured a cooperative system with Besmaar, there won't be any corrupted beastmen for a while.

Apparently, Heldt's earnest persuasions have gotten through Prince Vim.

MC: So, the gazes that we've felt before we arrived at the village were those wolves.

Heldt: To think that they were watching over us the entire time... That Vim, he just can't be honest.

He happily smiled as he said that.

(If those wolves haven't come in to save us at that time... We probably wouldn't be standing here like this now.)

When I thought of that, I became deeply grateful to Prince Vim and the wolves.

MC: That was a relief, Heldt.

Heldt: Yeah. It's really reassuring that we've managed to secure a cooperative system officially.

After saying that, he laid down onto the flower field. When I sat down next to him as he was lying down comfortably at that moment...

MC: !

His hand suddenly reached out and gently pulled my arm.

When he pulled me towards him, I was lying down next to him and our gazes met.

MC: ...Heldt?

Just as he entwined his own hand with mine...

Heldt: Still... You sure are a dangerous princess.

MC: You think so...?

After I made a wry smile, Heldt narrowed his eyes gently...

Heldt: I'm glad. That I was able to protect you.

MC: ...!

Heldt: Vim and his friends... and also everyone in that village, I'm so grateful to them.

MC: ...Yes.

A soft breeze blew and made his hair sway as he was smiling. Suddenly, he puts more strength into his fingers.

Heldt: I've already realized it now.

MC: Eh...

Heldt: I love you, MC. Ever since the time when you said that you'll fight alongside me.

MC: ...!

Heldt's words were slowly spreading within me.

MC: ...Yes. Me too.

I looked back at his straightforward eyes that haven't changed since the first time we've met.

(Being with Heldt is really reassuring... It's heart racing. Even though I wondered why I couldn't understand it well myself. ...I realized it when I thought I was about to lose him.)

MC: You're strong, gentle... I love how you're like the sun that shines on everyone.

He smiled slightly in embarrassment.

Heldt: I see. Thank you.

As he gripped my fingers tightly, I felt Heldt's heartbeat being conveyed.

Heldt: Geez, don't show such a sad face ever again...

There was a strong determination dwelling within his heated gaze.

Heldt: No matter what happens, I'll protect your smile. In the name of Heldt, the Prince of Vealoth, the Kingdom of Red Hunt...

His voice echoed throughout the flower field, where it was just the two of us. When the wind blew, flower petals fluttered into the air.

MC: ...Heldt.

When Heldt slowly raised the upper half of his body, he went on top of me.

MC: ...Heldt.

Just as his long eyelashes swayed, he gave me a soft kiss the next moment.

(...I'll make a vow too.)

While feeling his warmth, I slowly closed my eyes.

(From now on, I'll believe in your straightforward eyes forever...)

There was a lightly sweet scent of flowers emitting from his hair. More than anything, the red that he was cladded in was a color that was noble, strong... and also, gentle...
