Chapter 1 - Gentle Gaze

Kingdom of Stars, Olympus, July... 

As the warm sunlight was shining brightly through the gaps of every tree... Among the light, a young man opened his eyes.

?: Huh... What was I doing up till now... 

As he touched his soft looking blonde hair, he blinked a few times repeatedly. 

MC: Um, are you okay? 

??: Could it be that you saved me? Thank you~!

MC: ...

He held my hand and smiled broadly. His golden eyes that were the same color as his hair looked at me gently. 

(What a really kind looking smile...) 

His smile made my nervousness go away. At that moment, I saw a small creature climbing up his shoulder. 

(Huh? That's...) 

It was a small hedgehog that looked like it could fit in both hands... 

(How cute...!) 

??: Oh! Nemea, are you okay too? 

Nemea: Mii~

He smiled deeply again from that squeak. 

Hercules: I'm Hercules. This is Nemea. You are? 

MC: MC.

Hercules: I see, MC-chan. What a pretty name!

MC: !

(Him saying that is making me a little embarrassed...) 

Hercules: Ah, that's right! There's a place that I wanted to go to...

When he looked around restlessly, he turned towards me with a troubled look. 

Hercules: Uhh... If you'd like, want to come with us too, MC-chan? 

MC: Eh? ...Me too? 

As I was perplexed, Hercules-san made a friendly smile... 

 

Chapter 2 - Superpowered Prince, Moving Out!

When we left the forest, we went to a town during our journey... 

Hercules: Sorry for taking you along so suddenly...

When Prince Hercules said that, he smiled in embarrassment. 

Hercules: No, you see, since you went out of your way to save me... I want to thank you. Also! I couldn't just leave you behind like that!

He held his head as if he was troubled by a big problem.

Just as my voice reached his ears, Prince Hercules suddenly turned towards me.

He looked at me as he looked like he was about to cry at any moment.

Just as I was about to smile, my cheeks stiffened up.

Hercules: Addressing me by prince feels too formal~ Just Hercules is fine. 

MC: Ah... Okay. Um? Hercules.

He pointed towards the mountain range beyond town. There were two peaks that looked like they were split right in between them. 

Hercules: On the other side of that mountain, there's a river of bright stars called the Milky Way. 

(Milky Way, the one in the sky...?) 

Hercules: The person that I want to see is over there. 

MC: The person that you want to see? 

Hercules: My mother. 

(Hercules' mother is at the Milky Way?) 

As he was looking at the mountain, he showed a bit of a sad expression. At that moment...

??: GUOOOOOOH!!

Hercules: !

Just as a roar that was like a heavy tremor was heard, screams were heard all over the place. 

MC: What...!? 

Coming from the other side of the road, children came running towards us. Over there, a wild boar that looked bigger than a human was charging over here. 

Hercules: Everyone, get behind me!

Hercules stood before us. Then, he raised his arm and pointed at the large boar. 

Hercules: Superpowered Prince Hercules, moving out! Take this, my chivalrous power!

Large Boar: GUUUOOOOH!!!

Hercules stopped the charging boar head on. 

Hercules: ! ...Sorry if this hurts you. 

He picked up the boar with both arms and instantly threw it down. 

MC: !

After getting struck against the stone pavement, the large boar fell loudly. 

(What amazing strength...) 

Hercules: I overdid it a little... I think? 

Hercules sounded apologetic. 

Town Child: Wow! Prince Hercules!

Among the people that suddenly gathered around, the children started clapping their hands. The adults joined in and then, loud cheers were heard all around us. 

Hercules: Oh, please, you're all exaggerating. 

MC: No, that's not true. You were really amazing!

Hercules: Thank you, MC-chan.

As his cheeks blushed a little, Hercules smiled. Although, at that moment...

Large Boar: Hercules... You're truly unfortunate... 

(Eh...?) 

I heard a deep voice filled with anger coming from the fallen large boar. 

(That voice just now, could it have been the boar? That can't be...) 

As we were surprised, the large boar turned into smoke and disappeared in front of us. 

MC: It disappeared...? 

I looked up at Hercules by instinct. He made a sad face as he looked at the spot where the large boar disappeared from. 

(Hercules...?) 

Hercules: ...Let's go. 

After saying that to me, he turned his back towards that spot. As he looked discouraged from behind, I felt a little pain in my heart... 

 

Chapter 3 - A Curse That Brings Sadness

Many days have passed as I continued traveling with Hercules. During our journey, he would usually smile carefreely, but...

Hercules: ...Let's go.

I couldn't forget how sad he sounded at that time...

After leaving the town, we arrived at the foot of the mountain as a strange hopelessness was holding me. Next to the animal trail that we were walking on, there was a vast swamp and it's murkiness was making the uneasiness within me rise.

Large Boar: Hercules... You're truly unfortunate...

I recalled the large boar's voice that sounded like a curse. 

(I wonder what that was all about...) 

I looked at Hercules' back as he was walking in front of me. 

Hercules: MC-chan, are you having a hard time walking? 

MC: I'm okay. 

Hercules: That's good. 

When he said that cheerfully, he pushed away the bushes and branches, so that they wouldn't get in my way. 

MC: Hercules, um...

Just as I spoke, Hercules stopped. When he turned towards me, he made a troubled smile. 

Hercules: Is it about the boar? 

MC: Ah...

Hercules: I knew it... You're curious about it.

Hercules: I thought so~ ...I was sure that you were curious about me. Besides, you probably want to talk about the boar disappearing~...

Hercules: I thought that she would get tired of it already~ Looks like I was wrong. 

I watched his smile go away. 

Hercules: Because of that sort of situation, I shouldn't have taken you along with me. I'm really sorry!

Hercules: Same here!

A smile returned to Hercules' face. 

Hercules: Alright! In that case, I'm going to protect you with all my strength! Let's go see the Milky Way together!

MC: Sure. 

As we looked at each other, we both smiled in embarrassment somehow. Although, we started to hear a hissing sound from within the forest as it destroyed the mood. 

(What...? Some kind of breathing like sound...?) 

Along with that sound, some noise that sounded like crawling on the ground was getting closer. 

Hercules: MC-chan!

MC: ...!

When Hercules pulled my arm, he held me with one of his arms. 

MC: Hercules!? 

I looked up at him as I was in his arm. He made a stern look as he glared at the spot where I was just at. 

(Just what is happening...) 

When I followed his gaze... 

MC: ...!

Weaving through the trees, a colossal snake with many heads appeared. When it set it's eyes on us, the snake slowly raised it's crooked necks. 

Hercules: It's a hydra... 

Hercules pressed my face against his chest. He softly whispered in my ear. 

Hercules: Don't speak... It's poisonous, so it's dangerous to inhale it's breath. 

I lightly nodded as I was in his arm. In the corner of my vision, the hydra's large body twisted around. 

(Scary...) 

Hercules: I don't want to fight, but it can't be helped if we want to move on. Superpowered Prince Hercules, moving out! And so on!

Hydra: SHAAAAA!

MC: ...!

Along with that strange ear piercingly voice, the hydra charged at us. 

Hercules: I won't let you. 

With one arm, he grabbed the large snake's neck and shook it with great force. 

(He beat it with one arm...) 

My eyes widened from his strong strength. Sliding down from a tree, the hydra turned into smoke and disappeared like the large boar. 

(Is this the curse too...?) 

Hercules: MC-chan, let's run now. 

After making sure that the smoke had disappeared, Hercules began to walk. 

(Hercules...) 

As I was in his arm, it felt like the sadness surrounding him was being transmitted to me... 

 

Chapter 4 - Feelings Beginning to Waver

After taking down the hydra, Hercules went up the mountain path while holding me in one arm. As we moved on near the riverside, we were finally free from the bushes of the thick trees. 

Hercules: We should be okay here. 

Once he stopped, he sighed in relief. As I was up in his arm, I moved a little. 

MC: ...Hercules...

Hercules: Eh...? Waah! Sorry~!

Remembering that he was carrying me, he puts me down in a panic. 

Hercules: Were you surprised? Are you okay? 

He looked at me worriedly. His kind expression reassured me.

MC: I'm okay. Sorry for making you do all the walking. 

Hercules: Don't worry about it. That's just how I am. 

- What about you? (☽)

MC: What about you, Hercules? 

Hercules: Me? 

MC: You were carrying me this whole time, so I thought that it must've been troubling. 

Hercules: I'm all right. I have strength after all!

After saying that, he held up both of his hands. I noticed some red blood on his sleeve. 

MC: You're hurt... 

Hercules: Eh? Huh? Ah~ A tree probably did that. But, this sort of thing is no problem at all! I'm fine, so it'll heal up soon. 

While avoiding my gaze, Hercules swung his arm around. I grabbed that arm. 

Hercules: ...?

MC: You shouldn't. We need to treat it properly. 

Hercules: She got mad... 

MC: Besides, you shouldn't ignore this sort of thing. 

- You don't need to hold back (☽)

MC: You don't need to hold back. 

Hercules: I'm not holding anything back, but... I'm really okay.

MC: No matter how strong you are, injuries will still hurt... 

Hercules: MC-chan... 

When I rolled up his sleeve, I placed my handkerchief on his bleeding wound.

After I sighed in relief, I wrapped the handkerchief around his arm...

Hercules: It's been a while since I've made someone worried by being injured like this. Thanks, MC-chan!

With teary eyes, Hercules spreads out both of his arms. 

MC: !

(Is he going to hug me...?) 

When I guess that was going to happen, my heart became noisy. Although... 

(Huh...?) 

As he had his arms spread out, he was thinking about something without moving. 

MC: Hercules? 

Hercules: U~h... Ah! Let's keep on walking near the riverside. 

MC: Eh? 

When he smiled to avoid the subject, he pointed towards the mountain up ahead. 

Hercules: I'm sure that we'll get to see the beautiful starry sky at night. 

(What's wrong with Hercules...?) 

My own heartbeat was still restless as it continued being noisy. Along with that sound, my heart felt a light pain from being slightly away from him... 

 

Chapter 5 - The Bright Milky Way

Once the sun has gone down, the trees around us created an intense darkness. We continued walking among the darkness of the trees. Then, at that moment... 

(A firefly...?) 

A pale light passed through my vision. I saw pale yellow lights omitting from the gaps between the trees up ahead as we moved forward. 

Hercules: We've arrived. 

MC: Eh? 

Hercules: The Milky Way. 

Over there was a place with a flowing river that was shining brightly as if stars have gathered there. As the light of the river of pouring out, it bounced around the area like a firefly and disappeared. 

MC: Wow... Pretty... 

Hercules: Do you like it? 

MC: Yes, very!

Hercules: That's good. 

When he took off his shoes, he entered the river. 

Hercules: Do you want to come in too, MC-chan? It's shallow and it feels nice~!

Surrounded by the pale light, Hercules waved his hand towards me. 

(It looks like fun...) 

As he was inviting me in, I took my shoes off as well and took a step into the bright river. 

Hercules: MC-chan. 

He reached out towards me that moment. Although... Right before that hand was about to touch me, he puts it down as if he was avoiding me. 

MC: Hercules? 

Hercules: Ah... Sorry~...

MC: Hercules, what's wrong?

MC: Could it be that... Did I do something? 

Hercules: Eh... That's not it!

- Are you forcing yourself? (☼)

MC: You look like you're forcing yourself to be with me somehow... 

Hercules: I'm not forcing myself!

Hercules: That's not true! I'm having fun being with you! Really!

Hercules hung his head down and looked at the river. The pale light shined on his sad looking face. 

Hercules: I just don't want to hurt you... 

MC: Eh?

Hercules: It's because of my crazy strength. The thought of something happening at any moment and you ending up getting hurt... That scares me. This mountain used to be one, but it split when I was born. It split when I was crying so loudly as a baby. It was a shock. 

(This mountain...!?) 

Hercules: I can kind of control it now, but... Not entirely. Because of this strength of mine, I was driven out of the castle. 

As Hercules showed a sorrowful expression, I held his hand with both of mine without thinking. In my hands, his large hand stiffened up. 

MC: Since it's you, I'm sure that it'll be okay. 

Hercules: MC-chan... 

With a teary look in his eyes, he reached out to me with his other arm. 

Hercules: Thank you. 

When he softly hugged me, my cheek felt his warm chest. Without using too much strength, he gently hugged me with enough strength to touch me. 

(Why is he being so gentle...) 

That gentleness made my heart noisy.

At that moment, we heard a shrill cry from the trees around us. 

Hercules: !

Just as he stiffened up, he lets go of me. 

Hercules: Who's there!

He said that sharply towards the shadow of a tree. From the darkness, a single man appeared... 

 

Chapter 6 - The Person After Him

A man appeared from the darkness as he showed a grin towards Hercules. 

Man: Prince Hercules, I knew that you were unharmed. 

Hercules: That sash... It's Mother's. 

Hercules murmured that when he saw the sash around the man's waist. 

Man: It was a gift from none other than Hera-sama. I received it when she told me take away your life. 

MC: Mother...? Get rid of... Hercules? 

Hercules: She's Father's new queen, my other mother... I guess? So? Was it you that sent all those things to take my life up till now? 

Man: Yes, I didn't think that you could take on that much though... 

MC: !

(Then... The one who's been aiming for Hercules' life this whole time was...) 

I remembered his sad smile from each time his life has been sought after.

Hercules: It's true... But, that's just shows how much she hates me.

Hercules: Mother is afraid of my crazy strength... Even though all I wanted to do was show off. If we can, let's not fight right now. So, I would like you to leave now~

Man: Did you really think that I'm going to listen to you? 

Hercules: ...That's what I thought. But, she has nothing to do with this. 

Man: She's been with you longer than I expected, so it'll be troubling if that sort of topic spreads around. 

Hercules: ...

The man raised his arm towards the high sky. Just as the birds that were hidden in the forest flew out into the sky all at once, they started going around. 

Hercules: MC-chan, stay close to me!

He held me in his arm. When the man brought his arm down as a signal, the strange birds attacked us all at once. 

Hercules: I'll protect you!

While holding me tightly with one arm, he warded off the birds. 

Man: As expected of Prince Hercules, but it'll be hard to deal with this many opponents. 

Hercules: !

As it became hard for him to fight while continuing to protect me, I was pulled out from his arm. 

MC: ...!

Hercules: MC-chan!

Just as I fell, the man stood before me. 

Man: Being with a prince like that isn't good for you. I'll take care of you first. 

Hercules: Stop...!

Man: Die...!

MC: ...!

Hercules: STOP!!!

Along with that shout, a blast blew away the man in front of me. 

Man: What!? 

When he used his arm to protect his face, he quickly moved his gaze towards the wind's direction. Among the bird feathers that fluttered down disorderly, Hercules slowly got up. 

MC: Hercules? 

The agitated birds in the wind lost their strength and fell to the ground one after another. 

Hercules: Uwaaaah!

When he readily raised his arm, the trees in the area crumbled down loudly. 

Man: W-What is this crazy power...!

The man backed away in fear. While shortening the distance, Hercules slowly approached the man. 

Hercules: I won't let you... lay a hand on her...!

Man: Hie...

While breathing roughly, Hercules looked at the man. Then, he held the man up by the neck with one of his arms. 

MC: Hercules!

My shout echoed throughout the forest...
