Hikage - Prince of Hourai - Moon End

Chapter 6 - Endless Rain

During the raging rain that was downpouring on the day before the last day of the festival, I prayed for it to clear up.

Then, the next day, I looked up at the sky at dawn...

MC: ...Rain.

Nothing changed since yesterday, except the rain has become somewhat weaker, but it was rainy in the sky.

When I left the room, I heard the voices of the castle's remnants.

Castle Retainer 1: Looks like the festival finale is going to be cancelled.

Castle Retainer 2: It can't be helped because of the rain, but the gunpowder for the fireworks is no good now.

(Seems like it really is going to be cancelled...)

As I looked outside at the ongoing pouring rain, I sighed deeply...

(Aside from it being the last day... I'll also be staying in Hourai for one more day...)

It felt like the ongoing downpour was making my heart damp...

Chapter 7 - The Night After the Rain

After some time has passed, the ongoing rain has lifted at noon. Along with the roof and the plants that got wet from the drops of water, the sunlight began to shine through the rifts of the clouds.

Hikage: MC, being in the room this whole time must've made you feel down. How about we go outside?

MC: ...I guess so.

When Hikage-san visited my room to invite me out, we headed to the town area where the festival was.

In the middle of the town, the passing storm had taken an effect on it and ruined it all.

Although, due to the huge incident, the townspeople were looking at the blue sky with bright expressions.

Hikage: Despite the storm, everyone seems to be okay. Although, the festival area is...

(Before, there were so many people enjoying themselves.)

The area was completely empty and very few people have gathered around sadly.

MC: Since we're here, let's check the festival finale.

Hikage: I guess so. Even so, the festival will come again next year. I'm just glad that the townspeople are unharmed.

Hikage-san moved his gaze towards the townspeople with a bright expression.

(He's such a kind person...)

Looking at this side of him gave me a warm feeling.

(But, come to think of it...)

Suddenly, I remembered the time when he invited me to the last day of the festival.

Hikage: What's wrong?

MC: Hikage-san, at the time when you invited me out to the last day of the festival, wasn't there something that you wanted to tell me?

Hikage: Eh? Ah... That's... Well, that doesn't matter anymore.

At the end of that sentence, he averted his gaze from me.

(...What's with him?)

When I tried to ask him again at that moment...

Townsperson 1: My... Look at the sky! It's a rainbow, not only that, it's the legendary triple rainbow that meets with each other!

Townsperson 2: I-It can't be... The rainbow is going from the shrine to the ocean!?

The townspeople suddenly began to cause an uproar as they were looking up at the sky.

Hikage: !!

(Hikage-san...?)

When I looked at Hikage-san beside me, his eyse widened in surprise like the people.

Hikage: No way, it can't be... Something like this happening...

As Hikage-san's eyes widened, he suddenly looked at me with a strong look in his eyes.

Hikage: MC, come with me for a bit, we have to check it out right now!

MC: Eh!?

He strongly pulled my arm and immediately ran off.

In the sky, the triple rainbow was rising clearly...

Last Chapter - The Legend of the Triple Rainbow

In the sky, a triple-colored rainbow can be seen... Hikage-san ran out of town and continued running towards the ocean.

MC: P-Please wait! What's wrong all of a sudden?

Hikage: I'll tell you later!

As he strongly pulled my hand,, the two of us headed towards the ocean.

(What's with him so suddenly?)

It was either because of the running or him pulling my hand, but... My heart was racing greatly.

Then, when we finally arrived at the ocean, he stopped.

(This is... The place that he was going to take me during the festival.)

Hikage: Where is the rainbow heading to!?

As Hikage-san moved his gaze all over the place, he looked at the opposite side of the beach and quietly stared at the shrine. With the triple rainbow heading towards the ocean from the shrine, it looked like a bridge that was going towards the sky.

Hikage: ...!!

When Hikage-san saw something, he ran into the ocean.

MC: H-Hikage-san!?

As Hikage-san's clothes were getting pretty wet, he approached the rainbow while looking at it. Then...

Hikage: H-Hahaha!!

He became happy and looked up at the sky while splashing the water around him.

MC: Hikage-san...?

Not sure what was happening, I called out his name...

Hikage: It's unbelievable... Something like this happening this year!!

MC: Eh...?

Hikage-san turned towards me and smiled.

Hikage: A triple rainbow showing after a storm and is going from the shrine to the ocean is said to be a symbol of good luck. The origin of the festival yesterday is to have the protection god meet with the ocean goddess. The day of those two being united with each other is just like today.

MC: The protection god and ocean goddess?

Hikage: Yeah! Also, for a man and woman that come to see this rainbow together. It's said that they'll be together for eternity like the god and goddess...

(Eh...)

After saying that, Hikage-san walked towards me at the beach. The sunlight behind the triple rainbow shined on him.

(Why...)

As he was getting closer to me, my heartbeat increased. Then, once HIkage-san was right in front of me...

Hikage: MC, you're my fated partner!

MC: Eh...!?

I couldn't believe my ears when he suddenly said that.

Hikage: ...

MC: Hikage-san...?

It became silent around us. It felt like the rainbow that was heading towards the sky from the beach was quietly watching over us.

Hikage: I...

Then, Hikage-san broke the silence...

The sunlight made droplets of water shine on his well-trained body.

Hikage: If we had saw the fireworks in the festival finale together... I was going to confess to you.

MC: Eh...

I stopped talking and looked down to avoid looking at his serious gaze.

Hikage: Somehow, you... With these special feelings, I can't let you leave this kingdom without saying anything to you. Even when the festival got cancelled, keeping these feelings in my heart would be no good!

He looked at me with his eyes that were had a pure manly look in them.

Hikage: I want to talk to you more. So, stay by my side from now on... Please... I don't want you to leave this kingdom, won't you be my lover?

I was certain that my cheeks were blushing red.

(I'm happy...)

His straightforward gaze and words only made me feel warm...

MC: Yes...!

To confirm my own feelings, I gave him a firm nod.

Hikage: What a relief... From now on, we'll be together.

He said that happily.

Hikage: Now, my old man will stop talking to me about finding a queen!

MC: Q-Queen!?

I blinked from his words as he made his usual cheerful smile.

Hikage: Ah, sorry!! It's too sudden to call you a queen! That's not it... Um... Aaaaaahhhh! I'm not good at this sort of thing...

Seeing his shoulders drop sadly was somehow cute...

MC: ...I'm happy.

When I told him how I honestly felt, I smiled at him.

Hikage: MC... I see! That's good!

Then...

MC: Ah...!

He held me in his arms and easily picked me up.

MC: H-Hikage-san!?

Hikage: Hehe... Even though I'm pretty bad with women. I really love you!

MC: Thank you...

As Hikage-san's body was still wet, he hugged me tightly and kissed my forehead. That kiss felt warm and gentle...

(Hikage-san... He's just like the sun.)

Although, he wasn't burning with flames. His peaceful burning passion was something that would never change from here on...

(I want to be with him forever.)

When I thought of that, I looked at the triple rainbow. It was as if the rainbow in the sky was giving us it's blessing with it's pure beautiful colors...
