Chapter 6 - State of Emergency

When the members of the formation got into a dispute, Kanoe-san's team became disconnected with each other. 

Even though the festival is coming close, one of the team members and another didn't come again...

Kanoe: Over there, be more aware of your movements!

Despite the number of people that came in today, Kanoe-san continued practice as usual.

Kanoe: Saying that I've been practicing with my life... Don't you know how much effort that'll take for a man to say that?

Once it was breaktime, I went to Kanoe-san to tell him what I thought.

He looked at me as he wiped the seat off his forehead. Despite how nervous I was, I desperately pulled myself together and continued to speak.

I gathered up my courage and looked straight at Kanoe-san as I told him that with all my might. Then, he made a surprised look the next moment and spoke... 

Kanoe: ...You're such a cheeky girl. 

MC: ...

Kanoe-san extended his hand and roughly petted my head.

His rough and gentle way of petting is just like his personality. 

Kanoe: ...I've always been bad at communicating. Also, even without doing that sort of thing... I thought that everyone's hearts would be connected. 

When he said that, his amber eyes made a troubled look. 

Kanoe: ...Maybe that's what it was.

The words that he murmured pierced through my heart... 

Chapter 7 - United

As the team members were still strained, it was finally the day before the festival...

The orange sunlight was showing that it was dusk as it shined through the crevices of the forest. 

Kanoe: There's something that I want to tell everyone, so gather around. 

When I heard that while standing next to him, I held his hand. 

Kanoe: I'm not that good at talking, so I usually don't talk about my feelings...

From there, Kanoe-san stopped talking. 

Kanoe: ...

(Kanoe-san...) 

As I stood beside him, I softly whispered to him. 

MC: Kanoe-san... If you tell everyone how you feel, they'll understand. 

Kanoe: MC... 

After a while, Kanoe-san's eyes trembled uneasily, but... 

Kanoe: ...Thank you. 

When he sighed and murmured that, he faced everyone firmly. 

Kanoe: ...Listen, you guys misunderstood all sorts of things. 

Man 1: What did we misunderstand? The formation? 

Kanoe: Right. I don't easily agree with that formation. After calculating the dancing conditions, the lineup needs to be changed. 

Man 1: What do you mean by conditions? Explain the reason why we should agree!

Kanoe: The truth is... Right now, the stage plan is being changed.

Kanoe: The new stage isn't going to be square shaped and the length is going to be narrow. That's why it'll be troulbing if we do the usual formation. The shape can't be changed because it'll be an inconvenience to the other performers. So, we have to deal with it by changing the formation. 

Kanoe-san looked at the person that was disagreeing with him. 

Kanoe: Also... It'll be a waste of time to fight over the difficult moves. So, let's think of something possible together. Sorry for not explaining my reason...

Man 1: Why didn't you say so? If we had known from the start... 

Kanoe: If you were aware of the new conditions, it might've created a problem within the formation. Even so, I thought that you guys would be able to do the same formation with some slight changes to it. 

After saying that, Kanoe-san hung his head down. 

Kanoe: But... It ended up like this. I got conceited. I'm really sorry. So, let's try and show the best formation on the new stage. 

Kanoe-san deeply bowed to everyone. 

Kanoe: ...I want to get everyone fired up for the festival. I don't think we have enough time. But, with you guys, I'm sure that we can make it!

Everyone: ...

After speaking the truth, everyone suddenly became charmed by Kanoe-san's enthusiastic speech. 

MC: Me too... I want to see it. 

I ended up saying that. 

Kanoe: MC...? 

MC: Every day in the forest, I would see everyone practicing so eagerly... They were amazing because of your instructions. I'm sure that the dance performance will be a success, so I can't help, but look forward to it... Ah. 

When I told him how I honestly felt, I realized that I was the center of attention. 

Kanoe: ...

Then, Kanoe-san gently placed his hand on my shoulder.

Man 1: ...Since you put it that way, I'll do it. 

Man 2: I want to do it too. With Kanoe-sama believing in us, it feels like we can do it.

Man 1: Let's do it!

Kanoe: Alright! Let's enjoy tomorrow's festival to the fullest!

When Kanoe-san shouted that, everyone's feelings instantly became one. 

Men: Yeah!!

The loud war cries echoed throughout the forest. When the voices surprised the birds, they flew off as their cries sounded like distant screams. 

(Looks like they'll be fine now... That's good.) 

As Kanoe-san's hand was on my shoulder, I felt his warmth. When I felt my loud heartbeat, it was going fast as I thought about the festival performance...

Last Chapter - New Year's Party

After getting the team in order, it was finally the day of the festival... As well as the last day of the year...

Kanoe: Ha...! There, there, there, there!!

While going around with the intense sound of the drums, Kanoe-san's team intensely showed a magnificent performance. The tourists and kingdom's people all cheered for the artistic and unified movements. 

(Amazing... Even though they didn't have enough time, they managed to make it.) 

With those feelings becoming one, I felt deeply moved with warmth. 

Kanoe: Haaaa, ha!

After suddenly going into a pose, it felt like time had stopped and the performance was over. 

Spectator 1: Amazing!

Spectator 2: That was awesome!

The audience stood up and applauded loudly. I got up too and clapped until my hands hurt.

When Kanoe-san wiped the sweat off his forehead with his arm, he smiled brightly... 

(They were really good.) 

The warmth in my heart wouldn't go away no matter what...

Then, when it was time for the new year, the festival became noisy with all the drinking parties here and there. Even Kanoe-san's team were all drinking together as a reward.

While holding my hand, his grip around it got stronger. 

Kanoe: I had a reason for working hard. It was because of you. That's why... I want you to stay with me from now on. 

MC: ...

After he said that bluntly, I felt my chest tightening from his bright amber eyes. 

Kanoe: Your answer? 

As I felt my cheeks getting warm, I slowly nodded. Kanoe-san softly made a satisfied smile. 

(This smile... I always want to see it more than anything else...) 

The moment I felt his heavy love from my lap, I realized that I have fallen for him. 

Kanoe: Say something. 

When I took a deep breath, I softly spoke. 

MC: Yes... Is it really okay for me to stay with you forever? 

Kanoe: That sort of thing... is a good decision. 

He extended his hand and lightly touched my cheek. When the inside of my head became warm from feeling his hand, I slowly closed my eyes. 

Kanoe: Yeah... It's going to be a good year. 

When he murmured that, it felt like the days in the future are going to be filled with happiness...
