Nox - Prince of Necropolia - Moon End

Chapter 7 - Gloomy Eyes

As fallen clouds of dust were being carried away by the nightly wind...

-Flashback-

Nox: ...I'm tired of being targeted like this.

-Flashback-

While the remains of his cold smile wouldn't disappear, Nox drove the grave robbers that were attacking him away in the blink of an eye.

MC: Nox...!

Nox: ...

When I ran over to check if he was okay, his sharp gaze turned over here.

MC: ...!

Just as I shivered from the cold chill that went down my spine, my feet instantly stopped.

(That doesn't look like the Nox I know...)

As I was a few steps away, Nox made his usual smile.

Nox: It's okay, there's no need to worry. They all just lost consciousness.

MC: Nox... Are you hurt?

When I nervously asked that, there was a dark look in his eyes for some reason.

Nox: Who knows I wonder... Do you want to check by touching me?

Hearing that tempting voice made me want to try it...

Chapter 8 - Unreachable Voice

The faint moonlight that was shining down made his skin look even more paler...

-Flashback-

Nox: Who knows I wonder... Do you want to check by touching me?

-Flashback-

Nox stared at me as if he wanted to test it out. I remembered the time when I refused his touch a few days ago.

(Did I end up hurting Nox at that moment...?)

As the sad expression he was showing was making me feel overwhelmed, I couldn't bring myself to speak. While looking at me standing still, Nox lightly smiled as if he had given up.

Nox: ...I'm just kidding. I would never let you do something you wouldn't like. I'll escort you to the castle, so come with me.

When he picked up the lantern that he placed on the ground, he walked as he was leading the way for me. His back looked like it was about to blend into the darkness and disappear...

(I wonder why... Like this, it feels like Nox might end up disappearing.)

The moment I followed him from afar, in the corner of my eye, someone's silhouette got up while swaying.

Grave Robber 1: You, looking down at us...!

MC: !

A man with bloodlust eyes was about to stab Nox from behind with a knife.

MC: ...No!

Before Nox could turn around, I jumped towards the man's arm without thinking.

Grave Robber 1: Out of the way!!

I desperately held on as he tried to shake me off with no concern for me. My body ended up hitting the ground when he struck me off and the next moment...

MC: ...!

My head felt a strong impact and my body instantly lost it's strength.

Nox: ...Move.

Grave Robber 1: Gwah...!

Along with the sound of Nox swinging his scythe, I heard the grave robber groaning at the same time in the darkness. When I heard running footsteps coming over here, I somehow moved my gaze.

Nox: MC! Don't close your eyes.

MC: ...Nox...?

I tried to get up, but all I could do was get my hoarse voice out.

Nox: Don't push yourself to move. I'm taking you to the castle right now.

His unusually frantic words sounded distant. As my eyes were becoming hazy, I realized that my vision was gradually diminishing.

(Nox... Is he hurt...?)

When my fingers wandered aimlessly to check if Nox was okay, a large hand gripped mine.

Nox: MC...? No, don't close your eyes... Look at me...!!

While I was unable to respond to his grieving voice, I felt like I was burning.

Then, my consciousness fell into the bottom of the intense darkness...

Chapter 9 - Fallen Tears

Once I became conscious, I woke up to see a ceiling... At that moment, I noticed something on top of the bed beside me.

Nox: MC... Can you hear my voice?

When I moved just my vision, Nox's pale face was near the bed.

MC: Nox...?

(Why is he making such a face...?)

I wanted to know the reason behind his sad expression, but my voice wouldn't come out, so I was unable to speak.

(It's cold...)

Due to the freezing cold that I felt from the depths of my body, my entire body lost it's sensation.

Nox: Even though I knew that some kind of end was approaching...

From his slightly trembling lips, they were overflowing with words like a dam that's about to burst.

Nox: I really wanted to talk to you more. I had more to say, yet...

A single small drop of water hit my cheek... Those fallen tears felt really warm on my cold skin.

Nox: So, I want you to be by my side from now on. Forever... Don't leave me.

(Don't cry, Nox. I'll stay with you forever...)

As I tried to get up again within my consciousness, I wished for him not to be alone from the bottom of my heart...

Last Chapter - An Eternal Vow

During my pleasant slumber, I could hear someone's gentle voice...

Nox: ...Good morning, MC. It's morning already.

When I slowly opened my eyes, the clear sunlight has brightened up the room.

(Huh? I...)

Nox: Fufu, you were asleep for quite some time.

Near the bed, I saw Nox smiling.

MC: Nox...?

Nox: Are you hurt anywhere or in any pain?

MC: No... I'm fine.

As I got up on top of the sheets, my body was strangely lighter and I felt refreshed.

(I feel like I'm forgetting something important...)

Once I was up, the uncomfortable feeling that I had instantly went away before I was fully conscious.

Nox: That's good. I was a little worried since you weren't awake much.

Within the bright sunlight, Nox smiled. In his hand, he was holding a sparkly bright jewel.

MC: That's... Could that be a reminiscence stone?

I remembered when I was walking beside Nox in the cemetery during the time we reunited.

(The precious memories and strong feelings of people being crystalized...)

Nox: ...Yes. Strong feelings have been combined greatly. I didn't know that something like that could make me be able to talk to you clearly.

MC: Eh?

When I tilted my head to the side, his mouth slowly smiled.

Nox: No, it's nothing. From now on, we'll be together forever... MC.

That beautiful smile somehow made the thin glass break at that moment...

......

Then, by the time night has arrived, the stars began to twinkle in the distant night sky... When Nox returned from his patrol, he presented a small flower to me.

Nox: Do you remember this flower?

MC: I remember. It's the small flower that you received from the little girl in town.

(Even though it hasn't been that long ago, it felt nostalgic for some reason.)

As the flower was basked in the moonlight, it emitted a vibrant scent.

Nox: When I found out where it was blooming, I went to pick it. You said it was beautiful after all...

When he extended his pale finger, he placed hte flower in my hair over my ear.

Nox: It really does look good on you.

MC: ...Thank you.

Just as I smiled from the ticklish feeling, Nox happily broke into a smile...

Nox: You can no longer see anyone else, but me. You can't go anywhere else either... But, I'll stay by your side forever.

MC: Eh...?

My heart became noisy from those inexplicable words. When I became uneasy from that, there was a gentle look in Nox's eyes.

Nox: From now on, nothing will change. I'll give you everything that you want. Aside from my flowers and my life. There's no one else, but me to grant your wishes.

When he held my hand, he gently placed it on his chest. Even so, he was acting like he was going to sacrifice his life...

Nox: I vow to love you for all of eternity. Let's be happy together, MC.

MC: Happy...

The feeling of wanting to be by Nox's side was drowning out the faint uneasiness. As I searched for the words to respond with, his handsome face was looking at me.

Nox: Your answer, I know... A kiss as a vow. I want that from you.

His index finger lightly touched my lips. I couldn't resist his alluring smile that was filled with loneliness...

(Such an unfair person...)

Just as I thought of that, he brought me closer to him. When our lips were placed together for the first time, it felt really sweet, but it slightly tasted like tears...
