Chapter 6 - The Blurry Starry Sky

That night... 

(What am I supposed to do...) 

As I was looking outside the window, I was going through my thoughts by myself. 

(I can't just tell him to just forget about the most important person to him. Having no meaning to his life just because "someone" isn't here... But... I want Raven-san to live. Am I just being selfish...?)

Chapter 7 - The White Flower

The next day... When I made a request to Raven-san, we went out on a picnic with Claudius-kun accompanying us. 

Claudius: What really nice weather. 

MC: You're right, it feels really nice. 

Raven: Claud, don't you mean it's such nice weather? Right? 

When Raven-san corrected him, Claudius-kun puffed out his cheeks. I was watching that warm scene for a moment. 

Claudius: Brother, before I do that, how about you try catching me? Until you do, I'll say it's such nice weather properly!

After saying that, Claudius-kun ran off. 

Raven: Hey! Claud.

Giving me a faint smile, Raven-san ran after Claudius-kun.

Raven: Okay.

Just as Raven-san wrapped his hand around my waist, he fell down as he held the two of us above him. On top of the carpet of flowers, we silently looked up at the sky for a short while. 

Raven: ...

Raven-san bursts into laughter. 

Raven: ...Ha... Hahaha!

When Claudius-kun and I got caught up with laughter, our laughter echoed throughout the flower field for a while. 

Raven: ...How long has it been since I've laughed like this? 

After laughing for some time, he closed his eyes as if he has regretted laughing himself. 

Raven: Sorry. We should leave now... 

Claudius: Why? I want to stay here a bit more. 

Raven: ...No. 

Just as Raven-san was about to leave, he started picking white flowers as if he'd just remembered to. 

(The white flower that was placed at the seat for Ophelia at the party...) 

MC: Raven-san...

As if he was atoning for something, Raven-san continued picking white flowers as he desperately held him.

At that moment, Claudius-kun started to randomly rip up the white flowers. 

Raven: ...Claud, what are you doing? 

As a response towards Raven-san's question, Claudius-kun continued messing up the flowers. 

Raven: Stop it... I SAID, STOP IT!

Claudius-kun was pushed away by force as Raven-san raised his voice. I couldn't do anything except stand still. 

Claudius: I hate white flowers... The white flowers are taking Brother farther away, I hate that... 

Claudius-kun started to cry as he said that.

Raven: Claud... 

He slightly crouched down and reached out to hug him, but... Raven-san helplessly lowered his hand and returned to the castle by himself. 

MC: Claudius-kun... 

I was unable to hug Claudius-kun as he was left alone. 

Claudius: Sister Ophelia... Is she going to take Brother? MC-sama, save him... Please save him... I'll be a very good child in return. 

The white flowers in his small hand were just sad. When I looked up at the clear sky, I secretly held in my tears... 

Last Chapter - Trembling Shoulders

That night... I was thinking alone in my room. 

(I can't get Claudius-kun's teary voice out of my ears...) 

As I was sitting on the sofa, the moment I buried my face in my knees... 

Raven: MC-sama.

With a knock on the door, Raven-san entered. 

Raven: I deeply apologize for earlier... You ended up seeing something so disgraceful. 

MC: It's okay... 

When I got up, I poured some tea for Raven-san. 

MC: I'm the one who should apologize.

Raven: ...? 

MC: I'm sorry... The other day, I overheard your conversation with the butler. 

Raven: ...!

MC: I also heard... from Claudius-kun. I'm sorry. But, won't you tell me...? About Ophelia... 

Raven: ... 

After staying silent for a while, he sat near the window and calmly spoke. 

Raven: She... Ophelia was my everything. I felt her radiance and sadness running through me. I would give anything to make her smile happily. That's why I couldn't feel anything for a while when she passed away. Every day, I was only thinking about dying. Until the day that Claud turns 7 and receive the rights to inherit the throne... When you woke me up from a long slumber from the ring, I thought that you were a real angel. I thought that I finally went to where she was. 

MC: That's... 

Raven-san's calm voice made my heart throb sadly. 

Raven: But... Humans are such warm beings. I've been forgetting more... Her voice, the scent of her skin and her smile. Despite the pain in my heart now, during the seasons without her, I've been living miserably. I've decided to be in despair because of that. By living as a doll for just Claud's sake. 

He smiled as if he was ridiculing himself. 

Raven: Yet, I enjoyed being with you. The baguette sandwich, the sound of the wind, Claud's laughter... I couldn't take how precious those all were. I didn't want to think like that. Yet, I couldn't. ...Being with you... made me laugh. ...I couldn't help, but do that. I thought about being with you more. Something like that... I can't do it. 

Raven-san's voice trailed off as he said that. 

MC: ...You chose not to do it. The person that you loved wouldn't be happy if you weren't living happily. 

Raven: MC-sama... 

Raven-san gave me a clinging look. I couldn't help, but hug him. 

Raven: MC-sama... 

He said my name again. 

When he hesitantly pulled me into his arms, he softly placed his head on my shoulder. 

MC: Raven-san... Tomorrow, can we go on a picnic again? I'll make sandwiches. 

Raven: Thank you... 

As if he was touching something fragile, he softly placed his lips against my nape. 

Raven: Ophelia... So, you have finally forgiven me. These feelings of wanting to be with MC-sama... 

His shoulders slightly trembled as he hugged me in fear. 

(I've found what I can do... I'll do a lot of enjoyable things with him. I hope the weather is nice tomorrow...) 

While feeling my heartbeat, I placed my head against his chest. At that moment... It felt like we were being enveloped by the scent of the white flower as it was being carried by the wind...
