Chapter 7 - A Mixture of Black and White

The moment I thought I was going to get attacked, a shadow that was as big as the monster fell upon the ground... When I looked up, a dragon with a black and white mane took a blow from the monster. 

MC: Ray...!

Ray: You want to die!

When Ray groaned from taking a huge blow, he counterattacked the monster. While the fight continued, Ray became all battered up and in the end, the monster fell. 

Guard: Hey, what's that dragon!? 

The guards that noticed the fight between the huge dragon and the monster gathered around in a panic.

(Aside from his goal, Ray didn't seem me as a burden at that time. Then, this time, I need to protect Ray...!) 

MC: That dragon isn't a monster, so don't hurt him...!

The moment I shouted that, Ray glanced over here... While he was in his dragon form, he flew towards the sky... 

Chapter 8 - In the Cold Rain

As the cool nightly breeze caressed my skin... The sunlight was no longer in the sky that Ray flew off in and instead, there was the pale moon and the stars. 

MC: Ray, where did you go...? 

I walked towards the direction he flew off to as he was bearing injuries, but I couldn't find him at all. As I looked around the area, I would sometimes only hear the sound of plants rustling.

At that moment, along with the sound of the rain getting louder, I heard a deep groan from a nearby cave.

With a bit of hope, I stepped into the dark cave, where I can't see what's ahead of me...

In the dim cave, I felt cold even though there wasn't any wind... Inside the cave that was bigger than i thought, I proceeded on nervously...

Ray: ...Why did you come here? 

MC: Ray!

Out of his dragon form, Ray was sitting against a rock and I quickly ran over to him. Some painful looking injuries were left on his body from when he received a blow from the monster. 

(I knew it... He's more injured that I thought.) 

MC: We need to treat them immediately...!

The moment I spoke, Ray strongly pulled me towards him. He stopped me from talking anymore by covering my mouth with his slightly injured large hand. 

Ray: I don't need it. Just be quiet. 

When his overpowering sharp tone made me nod, he slightly loosens his grip. 

Ray: ...When I went through the trouble into protecting you, I thought it'll all end. 

MC: Trouble...? 

Ray lightly casted his eyes down as he continued talking about the topic he mentioned... 

Ray: If I had died, I would be at peace without bearing anything anymore. 

The words that Ray murmured detachedly echoed in the silent cave... Before I understood what he meant, I felt a strong pain rising as if it was gouging out from my heart... 

Chapter 9 - To Have and To Live

The words that Ray said echoed in the silent cave... Once I understood the meaning behind his words, someone warm was gradually filling up the inside of my heart. 

MC: ...From the start, did you fight the monster with the intent of dying? Earlier, who was it that said, "do you want to die"?

MC: Why...! Why would you make that kind of decision!? 

Ray: You don't understand anything! You're not the one who's burdened with anything.

MC: !

Ray clenched his fist after he said that roughly. As he strongly bit his lip, his expression became distorted in pain.

On his fist that he was clenching strongly more, red blood was oozing out.

I softly placed my own hand over Ray's hand that was trembling a little.

My hand became wet from the blood that was proof that Ray's alive.

Not wanting to back down, I looked straight back at Ray's piercing gaze... 

Last Chapter - The Light of Hope Shining on the Future

In the dim cave, the two of us looked at each other... When I took out a handkerchief and wetted it in a nearby spring, I sat down behind Ray. 

Ray: ...Hey, what are you giving me treatment for? 

MC: Didn't I tell you? I said that I won't let you die. 

Ray: I don't need it. 

MC: No. 

Ray: Enough already... 

The moment Ray turned around, the accessory in his hair fell off... 

Ray: ...Why must you be a burden to me? 

MC: !

Ray pushed me down and hung over me. When my back touched the hard ground, his long hair flowed down like rain towards my cheek. 

Ray: I'm fine staying empty. I don't need something like happiness right now. 

Ray's voice was shaking as he bit his lip. Gripping the wet handkerchief, I deeply furrowed my brow as I looked back at him in the eye. 

MC: ...You may think that now, but who knows tomorrow. The rain could stop, morning might come... Who knows what you might want. Me, you and even God... We don't know what the future holds. 

Ray: ...

As Ray made a pained expression, he roughly covered my mouth. 

MC: !? 

As it felt like he was stopping me from continuing my words by covering my mouth, it showed that his pained heart had turned cold. 

Ray: ...You should've left me. To think that I would become a villain by causing pain to all of you. If I hurt you, I wonder if that'll make me happy. Yet, why... 

His sharp tone turned sad with uneasiness. 

MC: ...I wonder why. 

(...Ray might do something, so I can't look away from him.) 

From the start, Ray wasn't a villain, I knew that from the short amount of time that we've spent together. When I got in touch with the kind side that he hid in his heart, my heart got pulled in towards him...

When I extended my hand, I touched Ray's cold cheek. My hand softly stroked his hair that was black like the night sky and white like the clear sun. 

MC: I don't want to see you in pain, I want to see you smile. 

Some painful looking wounds that he got from the monster were on his body. Wanting to ease his pain a little, my fingers lightly touched the wound on his cheek and his lips somewhat moved from my touch. 

Ray: If I want it, would you become mine? 

MC: I'm not an object. So...

MC: To make sure that nothing is going to happen anymore... I'm going to watch over you, Ray. 

Ray: Ha, if you're just going to spout out words out of pity, then shouldn't you have a more plausible reason to do so? 

-Flashback-

MC: I don't want you to die, so I'm going to "watch over you" beside you.

Just as I was about to tell him my feelings that I've kept in, my gaze firmly met with his. 

MC: It's because I love you, Ray. 

Biting his lip from my words, Ray softly sighed. Just as I heard that sigh, my heart softly trembled somehow.

When I nodded with no hesitation, Ray smiled broadly. 

Ray: I'll warn you though. If you say that you're going to run away... I'll turn into my dragon form and swallow you up whole. 

MC: That's fine, if I break my promise, you can eat me. Because I'll never run away from you. My future, I'll give it all to you.

With that wish that was made since the moment I've first met Ray, his cheek loosened up as he smiled... 

Ray: ...What an idiot. 

Even though he said that in pain, the expression that he was showing looked somewhat happy. Mixed with all sorts of emotions, his abusive way of talking gave me a deep comforting feeling deep within my heart.
