Shin - Prince of Kuyou - Moon End

Chapter 7 - Claws Attacking

The black cat spirit strongly jumped...

Shin: MC!

When he called out my name, he held me in his strong arms.

Shin: !

The black cat's sharp claws scratched Shin-san's arm.

MC: Shin-san...!

Shin: It's just a scratch.

With just his complexion changing, he looked at the spirit.

Spirit: Ah, what a shame... I was so close.

(That spirit... Just now, it was after me...?)

Shin-san held my trembling body tightly in his arms to calm me down.

Shin: Mischievous cat... You went too far.

The spirit turned towards us and smirked again.

MC: Shin-san... That's...

Shin: There are 12 royal families plus one more in this kingdom, the Cat Clan.

(Eh...?)

Shin: But, since the Cat Clan was corrupted by many imprudent people that resided there, it got excluded from the royal families. I thought something was up when I noticed that the spiritual air was going unreasonably down.

Shin-san smiled

Spirit: Don't mention that, rat prince... You're underestimating the pain I'm going to give you.

The spirit turned towards me and gave me a shady look.

MC: ...!

Shin: MC, over here.

After saying that, Shin-san pulled my hand to protect me and started to run. With the uproar from earlier becoming silent inside the castle, it felt like we were the only ones left behind...

Chapter 8 - In Order to Protect

When Shin-san pulled my arm and ran, we arrived at the treasure warehouse. After I was pulled into the room, he began to surround the area with ink paintings.

MC: Shin-san?

Shin: Don't move from here. Like what I said earlier, it's said that ink paintings have the power to exorcise spirits. This'll help to protect you. So, if something happens, don't move from this spot no matter what.

(If something happens...?)

When I noticed how concerned he sounded about me, I grabbed his sleeve.

MC: Shin-san...

Shin: This isn't the time to talk.

MC: But...!

At that moment...

MC: Mm...!

He placed his lips over mine to stop me from talking.

(What...?)

I couldn't blink due to the sudden action. When he slowly backed away, he lets out a heated sigh.

(Just now... We kissed...)

Shin: ...That was effective.

Despite how surprised I was, his expression didn't change one bit.

Shin: ...Don't move from there until I tell you to. That's all I can say, so don't interrupt my thoughts. It's best to just trust me.

MC: ...I understand.

Feeling heat in my cheeks, I let go of his sleeve.

Shin: Good girl.

After he gently placed his hand on my head... He slowly backed away.

(Just what is... Shin-san doing...?)

My heart couldn't help, but become noisy. At that moment... When we heard the sound of the door opening, the black cat spirit entered the room.

MC: !

The moment I turned away from the spirit, Shin-san held a sword in his hand. When the spirit saw the ink paintings around the area, it held it's nose in annoyance.

Spirit: ...

Shin: Like I thought. You're afraid of these ink paintings, right? That's why you tore down the paintings that were on display in town... I knew since you ended up hurting yourself from tearing them down so many times.

When Shin-san said that as he closed the space between them a little, he got into a sword stance.

Shin: Thinking that you can go against me by causing a disturbance... That's the shallow thinking of a cat.

Spirit: Silence! I won't let you do as you like! I'll just rip apart what's most precious to you!

When it turned towards me with it's hatred filled eyes, my legs trembled in fear.

Shin: I won't let you... You lowly spirit.

Spirit: !

Shin-san kicked the spirit to the floor like a bullet.

(Shin-san...!)

I was about to shout that as I held my hands.

Spirit: You rat!!

Shin: If you go after MC... I'm not going to let you move again.

When the spirit lets out it's sharp claws in front and was about to attack, Shin-san raised his sword. Then... The spirit landed on the floor loudly.

Spirit: !

Shin: MC, close your eyes and cover your ears.

Shin-san said that to me calmly.

MC: ...Okay.

I complied to Shin-san and closed my eyes and covered my ears with my hands. After that... Along with sensing some kind of presence moving, the repulsive feeling quietly disappeared...

Chapter 9 - The Person Waiting at the Flower Field

The next day after the black cat spirit disappeared... The spiritual performance has taken place peacefully and the festival has become lively.

(That's good...)

When I returned to the castle first, I waited for Shin-san. Although, there wasn't any sign of him returning...

MC: Um, where's Shin-san?

Servant: Shin-sama went out on one of his occasional walks.

MC: A walk...

(Could he be...)

When I thought of a place, I ran to where he was...

......

With the wind blowing, it looked like he was being hidden by the fluttering flower petals as he stood there.

MC: Shin-san...!

Shin: It's about time you came.

After he looked at me, he returned his gaze towards the flower field.

(Could it be that he was waiting for me?)

With expectations filling my heart, I felt a little nervous as I stood next to him.

MC: Um... Thank you for protecting me. After that, I didn't get a chance to thank you. Which I'm doing now.

Shin: I don't need your thanks. Also, I'm responsible for putting you in that situation.

(Responsible...)

As I felt sad from him saying that, I hung my head down. Although, he touched my cheek as if he was stopping me from doing that.

Shin: Why are you still here?

MC: Eh...?

Shin: After being put in such a dangerous situation... You should've been leaving from fear.

MC: I wouldn't...!

Just as I was about to deny that, Shin-san looked at me with a smile.

(Such an unfair person...)

As he looked at me softly, my cheeks became warm. I frantically tried to speak to hide my loud heartbeat.

MC: Um... Why did that spirit go after me?

Shin: The reason why the spirit went after you was...

When he murmured that, he glanced towards the servant in waiting.

Shin: There are people here. I'll explain the reason later. Tonight... in my room.

The words that he whispered to me were filled with affection... They made my heart awfully loud...

Last Chapter - That Reason

-Flashback-

Shin: There are people here. I'll explain the reason later. Tonight... in my room.

-Flashback-

Bugs were chirping loudly as they were getting wet from the evening dew on top of the plants...

(The reason why the spirit went after me...)

My face became warm from Shin-san's breath that was remaining in my ear. When I cleared out the heat by shaking my head, I stopped in front of his room. Just as I was about to call out to him...

Shin: Come in.

When I heard that from inside, I opened the sliding door.

Shin: I've been waiting.

I let myself in after he said that softly. The moment when I looked in the room...

MC: ! This is...

I stood still in shock from all the many ink paintings that were arranged on the floor in front of me. Aside from the picture of the fierce sacred beast, they were all pictures of delicately drawn flowers...

Shin: MC, over here.

When Shin-san called me over, he pulled my hand and had me sit next to him. He leaned against the wall as he was in a slightly unbalanced position...

Shin: This is an apology for scaring you.

MC: You shouldn't have...!

I denied that, but Shin-san slowly turned towards me and furrowed his brow in embarrassment. While I was sitting next to him, the light gently shined on his soft expression.

Shin: What I did was cowardly.

MC: But, you protected me. I was happy about that.

When I said that to console him... He placed his hand on my head and gently petted me.

MC: These pictures are really pretty...

Shin: I see... I'm glad that you're happy... The truth is, I was a little worried. To see if you liked them.

MC: Eh...?

Shin: Showing them without any self-confidence is like exposing my heart, it's unpleasant.

When he made a bit of a feeble complaint for some time, him going that far to become close by saying that made me happy...

(My heart hurts...)

As I tried to hold back my loud heartbeat, I looked at the ink paintings.

Shin: I really wanted to paint what you like the most, but... I still don't know you well. So, I painted the flowers that you saw in that flower field.

MC: Thank you so much. I don't know what to say...

(I wonder if that's why Shin-san was at that particular flower field.)

When I thought of that while feeling completely happy, I gently held an ink painting in my hand...

(But, why did he do this for me?)

With that single question popping up, I thought about another thing that's been on my mind.

(He rejected me... But, why did he come after me? When Shin-san kissed me at that time...)

Shin: Why did that spirit go after you... Is that it?

Shin-san sat in front of me.

MC: Eh...?

He gently took the ink painting from my hand and placed his own hand there instead.

Shin: Why did I go after you? Why did I protect you from the spirit? Why did I kiss you...

Just as he traced my fingers... He placed his heated lips over mine. Due to the kiss that felt like it could burn my body, I gripped his sleeve as it was getting hard to breathe.

MC: Mm...!

When I backed away in pain at that moment, I was pulled down to the floor.

Shin: Why did I kiss you like that again? ...It's surely causing some chaos.

MC: Shin-san...?

As he chuckled happily, his breath touched my lips.

Shin: Can't you think about it for a bit? The time when you came here, I didn't do anything. Despite the tension, you were kissed by a man.

MC: I...

When he held my hand, he softly kissed it.

Shin: That much should be obvious.

His gaze mysteriously took hold of my eyes.

MC: ...!

I placed my hand on top of his to stop it from stroking up my leg, but... I was no match for his strength...

MC: Shin-san...

With embarrassment torturing my body, he placed his lips against my ear.

Shin: I love you.

MC: ...!

His deep whisper immediately took the strength out of my body.

Shin: I ended up loving everything about you.

As the inside of my body was overflowing with heated happiness, I realized the feelings towards him within me.

MC: Saying something like that at a time like this... That's unfair.

I somehow said that to hi as I felt a little frustrated...

Shin: Looks like you finally understand.

After he softly whispered that, he kissed my ear.

MC: But...

(That sort of behavior, I couldn't see it at all.)

Shin: The time when you were at the flower field touched my heart... It gave me enthusiasm. Even though I don't know how to deal with you, it's becoming too much for me now.

He caressed my cheek with a heartrending look.

Shin: You entered my heart so easily. Like the time when we went to town that always have ink paintings displayed. You heard me at that time, right? I'm fine by myself.

MC: ...Yes.

Shin: The truth is, I didn't know what I was saying, but I was smiling on the inside.

MC: !

His fingers that were touching my cheek slid to my nape... That sweet sensation made my entire body tremble.

Shin: Right now... I'm smiling here. I don't want to be alone anymore.

Next... He placed his lips over mine even more deeply and poured all his feelings onto me. It felt like the distance between us since we've first met was being filled as we held each other closely...
