Tell - Prince of Kenal - Main Story

Chapter 1 - The Enthusiastic Working Movie Director

Kingdom of Movies, Kenal, November... The comforting breeze touched my cheek. As I was passing by the path of flowers that were blooming beautifully that was said to have been used for filming often, I was on my way to where the prince of this kingdom, Tell-san, was.

(Huh?)

I saw someone crouched down while they were surrounded by various colorful flowers. Feeling like I've seen that person before, I took a closer look and...

??: ...

(It really is Tell-san.)

The person that had a camera pointed towards a flower enthusiastically was the prince of Kenal, the famed movie director, Tell-san.

MC: Um...

Tell: Ah...

After looking towards me, Tell-san went back to looking at his camera again soon after.

Tell: Wait...!

(What's wrong...?)

As I was trying to understand what he said so urgently, I looked at where the camera was aiming towards and...

MC: ...!

A white cluster that had a bug-like shape was making squirming movements.

(This is... a chrysalis?)

When I looked at Tell-san, he continued to concentrate while pointing his camera at that cluster. Since it couldn't be helped, I watched with him too and after a while...

MC: Ah...

A crack was showing on the chrysalis and then, a white butterfly appeared.

Tell: Okay...

Then, Tell-san puts the camera down and turned towards me.

Tell: It was the emergence of a butterfly. When I came here to pick you up, I encountered that by chance. What good luck. Since I'm usually so busy, I don't get a lot of opportunities to film at ease like this.

As Tell-san told me that, he made a very satisfied smile...

Chapter 2 - Shooting a Documentary

After getting the emergence of a butterfly on camera, we arrived at the small castle of Kenal.

Tell: We might've made a little too many stops.

As we were returning to the castle, Tell-san enthusiastically caught a flower, a bird and the town on camera.

Tell: Sorry for going around like that. You can go sit on the sofa.

In Tell-san's room, there were a lot of tools and materials that are used for filming. And also...

MC: Amazing... Are all these trophies yours, Tell-san?

On the shelf, it was packed with a lot of sparkling trophies.

Tell: Yeah... That's right.

When Tell-san responded lightly, he turned to his desk.

Tell: ...Okay. This part still isn't complete.

As he murmured that, he started to frantically input something into his electronic computer. As Tell-san was looking at the screen, he had a serious look on his face.

MC: ...

I looked at the side of his face.

(He's a very passionate worker...)

At that moment...

??: Pardon the intrusion.

After a few knocks on the door, a tall woman with glasses appeared.

??: Prince Tell, about the next movie... Ah.

When the woman saw me, she made a surprised look. Although, the next moment, she composed herself and bowed deeply.

??: Nice to meet you, I'm Prince Tell's secretary.

MC: Nice to meet you.

Secretary: Bringing a woman to his room... How unusual.

The secretary smiled.

Secretary: Prince Tell, aside from what I was about to say. You should've arranged your schedule to get yourself ready to welcome her.

Tell: ...

Although, Tell-san didn't notice the secretary as he was focusing on the screen.

Secretary: Prince Tell! Let the other staff take care of that work.

Tell: Ah...

When the secretary walked quickly towards Tell-san, she picked up the computer.

Secretary: You shouldn't be doing that, Your Highness, it's rude to your guest.

Tell: ...I didn't mean to.

Secretary: Well then, I'll be taking this to the staff. Please, enjoy your stay.

With an elegant smile, the secretary left the room.

Tell: Sorry, I can't calm down unless I'm working somehow.

MC: No, it shows just how serious you are about your work.

When I said that with a smile, Tell-san looked away from me in embarrassment.

Tell: Well... Sorry for making you wait. Despite that I called you over here to thank you. If there's something I can do to apologize... Well, even if I say that, I won't be able to film any movies.

When he straightened up his glasses, he turned towards me.

Tell: So... I've been thinking a lot, but won't you let me film a documentary movie about you?

MC: M-Me...!?

MC: T-That'd be embarrassing.

Tell: ...I see.

Tell-san furrowed his brow sadly.

- That makes me happy (☼)

MC: ...That makes me happy.

Tell: That's good. I don't know what I'll do if you had refused.

Tell-san sighed in relief.

Tell: ...What I really want to say. Filming movies is all I can do... I even use my camera without thinking on my day offs. So, I didn't know how I should welcome you... I want to thank you by using my talents at least.

MC: Tell-san...

(He must've been thinking with all his might.)

When I became happy from how he was feeling, I lightly nodded.

Tell: ...! Thank you, then is there a place that you want to go to first? I know everything about this area. I can take you to the best places for filming.

MC: Then... I want to see the town of Kenal.

Tell: The town... Leave it to me.

Tell-san picked up an expensive looking portable camera from the top of his desk. That was how the filming for the documentary about me came to be...

Chapter 3 - Aimlessly Walking and the Filming Site

In the town of Kenal, with filming sets assembled here and there, it was crowded with cameramen and stagehands...

(My own documentary movie... I wonder what's going to happen.)

As my cheeks were currently hot with embarrassment, I looked up at Tell-san as he was walking beside me.

Tell: Ah, don't mind the camera. Just stay calm and move as you like.

Ever since we went outside, Tell-san wouldn't put down the camera and has been looking at me through the lenses this whole time.

Tell: That'll make a nice image. I'm looking forward to whatever I'm going to film.

(...It sounds like he's saying that he's enjoying the situation.)

- I'll do my best (☼)

MC: I'll do my best.

Tell: ...?

After hearing my words, Tell-san lightly shook his head.

- Please don't get your hopes up (☽)

MC: ...Please don't get your hopes up.

Tell: Ah...

Tell-san said that in surprise.

Tell: It's okay, just act naturally. Taking moments of your expressions is my job after all.

Those words reassured me a little.

Tell: Even if I say that, it might be impossible to do it right away... Sorry, just don't worry about it. Let's go to a place where you can relax for a bit.

Tell-san softly held my hand.

(Ah...)

Seeing that his hand was bigger than I thought made my heart skip a beat a little.

Tell: Ah...! Was I being too overly familiar!? That was no good of me, I was just in a good mood today and somehow...

MC: ...It's okay.

I held his hand just as he was about to let go in a panic. His hand was a little cold, but it felt nice.

MC: Thank you. Somehow, I'm enjoying myself.

Tell: ...That's good.

We smiled at each other while feeling embarrassed...

......

Tell-san took me to the forest that was slightly away from the town of Kenal. As the warm sunlight was shining through the trees, I could hear the comforting sounds of the birds chirping.

MC: How nice...!

As I was captivating by the beautiful scenery, I forgot that a camera was being pointed at me. Then...

Tell: So, you can make that kind of face too... This'll show the natural beauty of your body...

As Tell-san moved the camera towards me, he said that in surprise.

MC: T-That's...

Tell: No... Please stay like that.

Tell-san made a serious look as he pointed the camera at me.

(I-I'm quite aware of him...)

While feeling completely embarrassed, I aimlessly moved my gaze and...

MC: ? That's...

Among the forest, I saw an old cabin.

(What is that... It's a little ominous.)

The walls were ruthlessly flaking off and the worn-out roof made it look like it was about to collapse at any moment now.

MC: Tell-san, what's that cabin?

Tell: ...!

Suddenly, Tell-san's eyes widened in surprise.

Tell: Ah, it'll be dangerous if we get too close to it. Let's hurry and go.

After urging me, Tell-san quickly got away from the cabin.

(Dangerous, he says... I wonder what's there.)

While thinking that it was strange, I quickly followed after him...

Before I knew it, the sky had turned into a beautiful orange color. The color of the evening sunlight was showing in the forest, but we couldn't see it well because of the trees blocking it.

Tell: I know, if I remember correctly, there should be a meadow around here. I want to go there before sunset hits!

Suddenly, Tell-san shouted that.

Tell: It'll be nice to have a scene of you with the moment of the sun going down in the back...

- I would like to see that (☼)

MC: Of course, I would like to see that.

Tell: Then, let's hurry! I'm sure that it'll be a really beautiful scene to film!

- Will we make it? (☽)

MC: The sun is already going down... Will we be able to make it?

Tell: ...Let's run!

///Choices///

MC: Eh...

Tell-san ran off like a bullet.

Although, I became unable to see Tell-san from behind in the blink of an eye.

......

As Tell still hasn't realized that he left MC behind, he arrived at the meadow.

Tell: What a nice view! Now, go stand over there.

But, when he turned around, MC wasn't there.

Tell: H-Huh? MC!?

Tell's shouts echoed in vain throughout the meadow that was dyed by the sunset...

...

Chapter 4 - A Lonesome Evening

When I followed Tell-san from behind after he went off ahead, I somehow arrived at the meadow.

(M-My breath...)

I tried to call out for Tell-san, but I was unable to bring the words out due to being out of breath.

Tell: I-I'm really sorry...!!

Tell-san looked at my face in a panic.

Tell: ...I got too carried away in filming...

MC: I-It's okay...

As he said that with a truly apologetic look, I sat down at that spot.

(Tell-san... He got so absorbed into filming like that...)

While finding that a little strange, I broke into a smile.

Tell: MC... Look.

MC: Eh...

The moment I raised my face and looked at the view, I became speechless.

MC: Pretty...

As the sun was going down near the horizon, the sky looked magical as it was dyed in that color. As the white clouds were fading into an orange color, it created a beautiful gradation.

Tell: I'm really sorry... But, isn't it beautiful?

MC: Yes... This is the first time that I've seen such a beautiful sunset.

Before I knew it, Tell-san sat down next to me and pointed the camera at me. As he was looking at me through the lenses at a point-blank distance, my cheeks became warm.

Tell: Nice...

While holding the camera, Tell-san got closer again...

Tell: Your frequently changing expressions gives me a ticklish feeling from filming.

MC: T-Tell-san...

The moment my heartbeat became even more intense...

Tell: This is the first time that I have seen such a subject.

(...Subject?)

Towards those words, I...

- A subject... (☽)

MC: A subject...

Tell: Yeah. You're a really nice subject.

Despite that Tell-san said that happily, I felt depressed.

- ...Thank you (☼)

MC: ...Thank you.

With a sharp pain in my heart, I looked down.

Tell: ...MC?

(That's right... Tell-san was talking about me being the subject. But...)

Tell: Thank you, it's thanks to you that I got to film something good. We should get going soon.

Then, when he presented his hand to me, I held it without any hesitation as I felt pain rising for some reason...

The two of us walked on the path that we used from the start. The beautiful forest felt a little sorrowful now.

Tell: I don't just film documentaries, but also romance and action movies too.

As my feelings were being uplifted, Tell-san talked a lot about movies.

MC: You do have a lot of trophies.

Tell: It's an honor, but I've still got ways to go... I need to polish my skills more. Also, I still have a lot that I want to film! I want to film everything as long as I live.

With a surprisingly serious face, Tell-san looked up at the sky. Forgetting to point the camera at me, his eyes shined brightly.

(I want to see the movies that Tell-san filmed.)

When the faint pain in my heart suddenly disappeared, I looked at the side of his face as the sun shined on it.

Tell: ...Ah, I shouldn't. I got carried away from talking.

When Tell-san moved his gaze from the sky, he looked around. Then...

Tell: ...T-This place.

It seems like we have walked somewhere near the old cabin.

MC: Tell-san? Are you okay?

When Tell-san turned pale as he became worried, I looked at his face.

Tell: I-I'm fine. Let's hurry and go.

The moment Tell-san said that with a shrill voice and placed his hand on my back...

??: ...-lp.

MC: !?

??: He... lp...

I heard a frail voice coming from the cabin...

Chapter 5 - At a Deserted House Outside of Town

??: He... lp...

In the forest that became dark with a dusk color, I heard a voice coming from the old cabin...

Tell: Eek...!

(W-What? They said, "help"...)

Due to what's happening to suddenly, my heart started to pound loudly.

(It's a little scary... But, what if someone is really calling for help.)

As I clenched my hand, I turned towards Tell-san.

MC: In the cabin... Someone might be in there. Shall we go in?

But, Tell-san...

Tell: I-I-I-I-It might've been the voice of a dog or cat. That's right, that must be it.

MC: But, they said, "help"...

Tell: In that case, it was my brother, Will! He always does these kinds of pranks. Yeah! That's it!

With determination, Tell-san wouldn't go near the cabin. Although...

??: Help...!

This time, I heard a child's voice calling for help more clearly.

MC: Tell-san, it was a child's voice!

Tell: ...

As Tell-san was still perplexed, I...

- Let's go together (☽)

MC: Tell-san, let's go together.

Tell: ...!

When I grabbed his arm, I headed towards the cabin.

- I'll go by myself (☼)

MC: I'll go by myself.

Tell: Ah...

Just as I turned around and was about to run towards the cabin, Tell-san grabbed my arm.

Tell: ...Fine, let's go together...

The moment Tell-san readied himself and made a firm expression...

MC: !

A gust of wind blew and made the trees rustle loudly.

Tell: Waaaah!

MC: T-Tell-san...!?

When he held me, his body was trembling.

(Could it be that... He's scared?)

As it was getting painful from Tell-san holding me, my heart started to become loud.

MC: A-Anyway, let's go to the cabin.

With my heart going fast, I pulled Tell-san's hand and headed to the cabin...

......

Child: Uwaah! I was so scared...!

The source of the voice that we've heard from the cabin was a child that was unable to get out of the forest while playing hide and seek. Since the door was in bad condition, the knob ended up breaking.

MC: Hey, don't cry. You shouldn't be going this deep into the forest. I'm sure that everyone was worried about you. Let's hurry and go back.

Child: Okay...

MC: Tell-san, let's take this child home.

Tell: ...

MC: ...Tell-san?

When he didn't respond after I spoke to him, I looked at his face...

Tell: Y-Yeah... Sure.

As Tell-san's face was pale, he caught his breath...

After we sent the child home safely...

MC: That's a relief. It's a good thing that we've noticed.

Tell: Yeah...

Tell-san hung his head down tiredly.

MC: Um...

Tell: I didn't know that you were like that though... ...I was just scared mostly.

(I thought so...)

After he sighed gloomily, Tell-san spoke softly.

Tell: Even when I'm in the middle of filming, my heart would stop from a loud sound. Will... My younger brother is a horror movie director and he would always spook me...

While thinking about his brother scaring him greatly, Tell-san's brow furrowed deeply.

MC: Then, you must've been forcing yourself to go to such a scary place... I'm sorry.

Tell: No, it's fine. Usually, I would never go, but... Thanks to you, that child was saved. If it were me alone... I wouldn't have been able to do it. You're a strong person.

MC: That's...

The moment I became surprised after he said that sincerely, Tell-san pointed his camera at me.

Tell: ...You were making a really nice expression. I want to keep filming you forever.

(What kind of expression was I making just now...)

Although, Tell-san only sees me as a subject through the camera lenses. While holding back the pain in my heart, I turned towards the sun that was about to go down soon.

Sun End

Moon End
