Chapter 6 - Goodnight

After my visit to the studio has ended... Will-san led me to a room in the castle. 

Will: You can stay in here for today. 

I looked at the normal Western style room. 

MC: ...It's reassuring that the room is normal. 

Will: As expected from you! Although, isn't it too boring to just guide you here? How about an abandoned cottage, a cursed mansion or anything else like that... 

MC: I-I'm fine... 

When I frantically shook my head, Will-san chuckled. 

Will: I'm joking, I wouldn't do something that you'll dislike. 

After he said that kindly, I couldn't look away from him. 

(He hasn't changed since the beginning...) 

I remembered all the events that happened today. Even though his sense is a little different from others, he's serious when it comes to work and he's not good at dealing with real blood... 

(I may not be good with horror movies, but I'm curious about what kind of movie he's making...) 

Will: What's wrong? You're staring at me. 

MC: No, um...

When Will-san suddenly made a soft expression, he held my hand. 

Will: Then, take your time to rest today. Tomorrow, I'm going to set up some final finishing touches, but... Preparing it for you will make it a good thing, so look forward to it... 

MC: Yes, goodnight.

Will: Goodnight... 

After he said that gently, he left the room... 

Chapter 7 - I Wanted to See You

The next day... As the morning sunlight shined through the window, it felt nice as I was waking up. Then, there was a knock on the door. 

Movie Staff: Good morning, MC-san, your breakfast is ready. Also, Director Will has a message for you. 

MC: From Will-san? 

Movie Staff: Yes, the director is going to be busy for a few days. So, you're free to go to the film studio and the town. 

After the staff member left the room, I looked outside the window. 

(Will-san is in the town of Kenal... Maybe I should go check on him a little.) 

Once I got dressed, I went out to look for him in town.

I walked into the town of Kenal by myself for the first time. A television in the street was playing a movie CM among the various shops that were lined up like an urban spot. 

(Walking around like this feels nostalgic, it's just like being in my formal world...) 

When I took a glimpse of a movie set in town, a lot of people passed by it as if it was normal. 

(Even though it's lively, the public seem to be living in comfort.) 

As I went along the main street, what I saw at a bookstore was... 

(Ah, Will-san is on the front cover of this magazine.)

In the other magazines, there were published articles about Will-san's new movie that people are looking forward to. 

(To think that so many people are looking forward to Will-san's movie... It's scary, but... I really want to see it.)

Will: Tomorrow, I'm going to set up some final finishing touches, but... Preparing it for you will make it a good thing, so look forward to it... 

-Flashback-

I remembered what Will-san told me last night and turned to the page that was about him in the magazine. 

MC: ... 

(Will-san, I wonder how he's feeling about the movie right now...) 

As I thought about him for some reason, I left the bookstore and headed off towards the studio...

When I returned to the studio, I saw the staff member that visited my room this morning. 

MC: Um... Is it possible for me to see Director Will right now? 

Staff: Of course, it's okay if it's only for a little while. 

After hearing that, I went to the editing studio that he's in. 

Will: Huh, what's wrong? 

When I entered the studio, I approached Will-san after he saw me. 

MC: Um, this... These are refreshments! I was wonder if you had lunch yet. 

Along the way to the filming studio, I saw a food stall that was selling tasty looking hot sandwiches. 

Will: ...! What a surprise. This is from the 39 Street food stall. My favorite!

MC: Really? 

Will: Yeah! How nice... Having this after working so hard in the afternoon, thank you, MC. 

Will-san happily smiled. 

MC: Please do your best, I'm looking forward to the movie. 

When I smiled as I said that... 

Will: ...

Will-san was looking at me closely through his glasses. 

MC: Will-san? 

Will: Ah, it's nothing. Despite that I think about all sorts of people's scared expressions in my world. 

MC: ?

I tilted my head to the side when I didn't understand what he meant. 

Will: Your smile is probably what changed my world out of anything else. 

As Will-san pushed his glasses up in embarrassment, his words filled me up with a warm feeling. 

MC: I may not be good with horror, but I'm looking forward to the movie that you're making. 

Will: ...MC. 

Then, we smiled at each other... 

Last Chapter - More Scary

The next morning... After I woke up and left the room, I saw someone's silhouette in the hallway. When I approached it with curiosity... 

MC: Will-san!

Will: Eh... Huh, MC? 

As Will-san was hanging against the wall, he rubbed his eyes. 

MC: Are you okay? 

Will: I'm fine, I'm fine... I just overdid it a bit all night. 

MC: A bit, you say... 

Will-san stretched greatly and looked at me with an accomplished expression. 

Will: Also, tonight, if you have some time, there's something that I want to show you. 

MC: To me? But, you should rest... 

Will: I'm fine, also, it must be tonight no matter what. 

He looked straight at me as he said that in a very odd manner. 

MC: I understand, but please don't push yourself. 

He nodded and happily smiled... 

......

Then, that night... I went to town to meet with Will-san at the promised time. 

MC: This is...? 

I arrived at a small theater in the middle of town. In front of the entrance, there was a sign that said, "reserved for today". 

Will: Tonight, I want you to be the first one to see my shining new world!

MC: ...!

Despite that he looked tired during the day, he straightened out his back and reached for my hand. 

Will: I have perfected it earlier today... So, I want to hear your thoughts of it first at least. 

He held my hand with his tattooed one. His hand was a bit paler than usual. 

(This hand, it was used for the movie that everyone has been looking forward to...) 

Will-san's hand, the one that was able to create one thing...

MC: Okay...!

I held Will-san's hand with both of mine and responded to him clearly. 

Once we took our seats in the theater, the film began to play. The screen projected a slow countdown... Then, the movie began and showed a scene that was somewhere deep within a forest... 

MC: ...!

There was a man and a woman running in the eerily dark forest... Behind them, there was a strange being chasing them. 

(It really is scary...) 

I clenched my hand on top of my lap... 

Will: ...

Next to me, Will-san held my hand. Although, my hand couldn't help, but tremble in fear... Then, the scene changed. It was night, there was a small boat on top of a lake and it was making squeaking sounds as it was moving forward. When it showed the top of the boat... 

MC: ...

It was covered in a gush of blood from a cutthroat victim and I let out a soft shriek. 

(Scary... It really is...) 

No matter how many times I closed my eyes, my shoulders would tremble from what was going to happen next. Although, with Will-san holding my hand, I was looking forward to seeing what was going to happen on the screen. When I felt his breath against my ear, my heartbeat became face. 

Will: It's such an honor to see you so scared... 

MC: Will... -san!

When he whispered that to me, it felt like he was affectionately seducing me like a lover... 

Will: Even though I was thinking that your smile was nice during the day... I like your scared expression the most, no matter how many times I see it. 

Aside from being scared, my heartbeat began to race from what he meant from that. 

Will: MC... It seems like I have taken a liking to you. 

MC: Eh...? 

Will: I wanted to show you my movie, so that I can see you being scared with teary eyes like that. You really are cute... 

MC: ...

He placed a kiss on the corner of my eye. Although, the next moment, the sounds of the movie characters dying in agony played in the speakers. When I flinched from fear, Will-san held my shoulder with his arm. Even though we looked like a pair of lovers as we were at a close distance, I held onto his arm when the screen showed a scary scene. 

Will: How assertive of you.

MC: T-That's not it, I was just scared... 

Just as I was about to pull myself away from him, he held my shoulder more strongly. 

Will: It's fine, be scared as much as you want, so that you can rely on me. I want to see more of your meek reactions like that... Okay? 

MC: Will-san... 

(I wonder if it's okay to rely on him.) 

As my fingers slowly gripped his arm more, I entrusted myself to him... I couldn't tell if it was either because I was able to accompany him like this during the few days that I've been with him since we've first met... Or because of the scary movie that was making my mind go completely numb...
