Chapter 5 - Stardust Necklace

Alfred: Do you have any plans tonight? 

-Flashback-

That night...

Alfred-san took us to a nice boutique in town. 

MC: Wow...!

I said that without thinking from the sparkling jewels and nice clothes. In a showcase, I saw a shiny necklace that had a lot of small stars on it. 

(Pretty...) 

Alfred: This store is where I get my specially made clothes. Well, that's not why I brought you here though. Seeing your eyes sparkle like that is enjoyable for me as well. 

While looking at the showcase from behind me, he gently smiled.

(I wonder if he smiles like this to his wife... My heart hurts... But...)

 When I saw myself in the reflection of the showcase, my cheeks were blushing and my eyes were shining... I couldn't help, but think about it as night was approaching soon... 

Last Chapter - On a Starry Night... 

When Alfred-san pulled my hand, we went to the rooftop of the boutique. 

MC: Wow...

Over there was the vast starry sky that felt like it could swallow me up at any moment now... 

Alfred: This is my secret observatory. Speaking of which, I should set up the heater and telescope. 

Alfred-san put some firewood in the heater. 

MC: Amazing. 

Ignoring the pain in my neck, I looked up at the sky and walked around the rooftop. 

Alfred: You're going to trip if you keep on looking up. 

Alfred-san broke into a smile as he poured some wine in a glass. 

MC: I'm sorry. But, it's so pretty...

Alfred: Then, come over here. 

When Alfred-san extended his hand... 

MC: ...

He gently held my shoulder. 

Alfred: You can look up at the stars as much as you like. 

Mis hand that was touching my shoulder was warm... As the starry sky was getting further away, my entire body trembled as my heart was racing. 

Alfred: Here you go. 

When he handed me a wine glass, I accepted it as my hand was trembling. 

Alfred: This is a noble rot wine. I hope it'll suit your tastes. 

MC: Noble rot wine...? 

Alfred: You can't see it because it's so dark. But, the color is like the stars. 

MC: Like the stars? 

After saying that, I held up the glass towards the starlight. I couldn't see the color of the wine because of the starry sky being so distant, but... Within the darkness, the glass reflected a bright light. 

(Huh...?) 

When I looked down, the star necklace that I was looking at in the store was around my neck. 

MC: Eh!? Why... 

Alfred: I thought that it would look good on you. 

His eyes were looking straight at me.

MC: Since when... 

As my heart was throbbing in surprise, I couldn't bring myself to speak well. While looking at me like that, he chuckled with a smile. 

Alfred: You truly are a vulnerable person. You didn't notice me putting the necklace on you. You're really... 

I didn't catch Alfred-san's words as he continued speaking. 

MC: ...Am I like your wife? 

Alfred: ...

MC: When I'm standing beside you like this, does it feel like your wife is... 

Just as I said that, he strongly pulled me by the waist. 

Alfred: You're such a troubling person. What you say only stirs me up...

MC: Alfred-san...

Alfred: I did think... that you were like my wife. Even so, that person was only a part of my past. I could no longer smile nor cry, I couldn't feel anything... But, having you by my side like this and smiling. You're different from her. 

When those words made me feel overwhelmed... I smiled at him. 

Alfred: You trust me too much... Showing me such a vulnerable smile... Haven't you thought that I might attack you? 

MC: ...!

He softly placed his lips against my nape. 

Alfred: Despite that there's a possibility... a vampire will go after your blood. Having their fangs on such soft skin and... 

I became unable to breathe as my heart was beating so fast. 

(But...) 

I wanted to get out of his arms due to fear, but I couldn't. I gently touched his hand. 

Alfred: ... 

MC: If that's what you really want to do... 

I whispered that as my voice was shaking. He gently caressed my cheek. 

Alfred: I'm no match for you... I won't drink your blood. 

MC: Eh...? 

Alfred: Instead...

MC: Mm... 

He snatched my lips away. His fingers grabbed the ribbon on my blouse... 

Alfred: I'll take you. 

MC: ...!

Underneath his cloak, my skin became exposed. Beneath the starry sky that looked like it was going to come down... Forgetting to breathe, I gave myself to him...
