Chapter 1 - An Arrow to the Heart

Koubai Kingdom, September... With Venus shining towards west in the sky, it was a sign that night was starting. In the red town, I was out of breath as I was running over to Byakuyou-san's castle.

-Flashback-

Byakuyou: Come to the castle as soon as possible!

-Flashback-

That was all that was written in the letter that was sent to me by an arrow yesterday.

With uneasiness taking hold of me, I went through the castle...

(Ah, this scent of flower.) 

The sweet scent of plums softly grazed my nose. At that moment, someone softly held my shoulder and when I turned around... 

Byakuyou: I've been waiting for you, MC.

There was the beautiful Byakuyou-san with a captivating smile on his face at a close distance. 

(It really was Byakuyou-san's scent.) 

Even though he looks like a woman, his captivating and beautifully arranged face was making my heart race. 

(He's really beautiful as usual...) 

Byakuyou-san, a man who puts on makeup without hesitation to become beautiful, chuckles with a smile. 

Byakuyou: What are you spacing out for? Even though it's been a while since we've last met, you haven't changed at all. Well, that absentmindedness is what I like about you. 

MC: Byakuyou-san, what's going on? What did you mean by come to the castle as soon as-

Byakuyou: Sorry, I'll tell you later! Just come with me for a bit! I'll explain afterwards. Right now, just come with me. 

When his large hand held mine firmly, he walked at a fast pace.

Chapter 2 - Fake Fiancée

Byakuyou: Father, this is the girl I'm going to marry.

Everyone in the room went into an uproar from Byakuyou-san's words. Byakuyou-san was the only one smiling calmly. 

King: What is the meaning of this, Byakuyou! J-Just who is this girl... 

Byakuyou: Oh my, she isn't just any girl. This girl is a full-fledged princess from another kingdom. Right now, the kingdom she's from is a secret. I can't really reveal the other kingdom and her background... Right? 

When Byakuyou-san made a mischievous smile, his captivating hand caressed my cheek. As my heart was beating fast from nervousness and confusion, my gaze met with Byakuyou-san's big eyes. 

MC: U-Um, Byakuyou-san. 

Byakuyou: Hmm~, it's fine. You don't need to worry about anything.

When he whispered that to me, he winked.

King: To think that you had that kind of woman...

Byakuyou: As you can see, we're really in love with each other.

When I joined in on the conversation by saying that seriously, my heart skipped a beat. As Byakuyou-san held my shoulder, he gently caressed my hair.

Byakuyou: But, Father. I have fallen in love, so it can't be helped.

Byakuyou: This conversation is over, Fahter. Now then, MC. Since you came all the way here, I'll treat you with some hospitality. Well then, we'll be excused, Father. 

Leaving all the commotion behind, Byakuyou-san elegantly walked out of the room while holding my shoulder. 

MC: Byakuyou-san, j-just what is happening?

Byakuyou: There's an explanation to all of this. I want you to be my fiancée starting from today. Can you lend me your support? 

Byakuyou-san looked at my face as our cheeks were at a close distance. 

Byakuyou: Actually, it has become a bit of a nuisance. 

MC: The marriage interview? 

Byakuyou: That's right! I'm an only child, but they're always worried that I won't be able to meet someone nice. But, I only love being beautiful and cute girls like you. 

As he softly stroked my cheek, I smelled the scent of sweet plums.

Byakuyou: Being stylish is the greatest and fun altogether, but socializing and getting married... By seeing me like that, Father has been setting up marriage interviews for me. That's why I want you to pretend to be my fiancée. Until they believe that we're really in love!

HIs smile was like a bud that was blossoming into a flower. It was really like a fully bloomed flower. 

Byakuyou: Is that all right? You're the only one I can count on.

MC: But, even if you tell me to pretend to be your fiancée, just what am I supposed to do...? 

Byakuyou: Isn't it obvious? Since I need your help in the marriage interview, you just need to do one thing.

MC: Eh? 

Coming up with some kind of plan, Byakuyou-san smiled as his beautiful eyes narrowed... 

Chapter 3 - Interfering with the Marriage Interview

 The morning sky started to change color. When I spent the night without sleeping in the end, Byakuyou-san visited me in the morning and told me that he was going to help me get dressed. 

Byakuyou: This is nice, how cute. Here, then after that... 

When I changed into a kimono that was adorned with bright flowers, Byakuyou-san led me to a mirror. He suddenly applied some lipstick that goes with my skin on my lips with his pinky finger. 

(Byakuyou-san's finger is on my lips...) 

His slightly slim finger gently glided over my lips. 

Byakuyou: Can you open your mouth a little? 

MC: Y-Yes.

Despite how nervous I was, I did what he said and opened my mouth. With Byakuyou-san's face close by, even his breath was like a sweet scent. 

Byakuyou: Okay, done. 

When I saw myself in the mirror, I looked like a different person. 

Byakuyou: You look really beautiful. My judgement is never wrong. 

When Byakuyou-san made a satisfied smile, I...

When we arrived at the main hall, there was a girl in a beautiful indigo kimono sitting properly. 

Kazuki: ...Byakuyou-sama. I've wanted to meet you. 

As Kazuki-sama's cheeks were pink, she looked at Byakuyou-san with her charming eyes. 

(Even though she's so beautiful, why doesn't Byakuyou-san want to go through with it?) 

As Byakuyou-san was being gazed at, he looked down at Kazuki-sama with great interest.

I couldn't look away from his eyes that were looking stronger than usual. 

MC: Yes, I'll do as you say, Byakuyou-san. 

Byakuyou: Thank you, MC.

When he said that with a smile, I noticed that Byakuyou-san's serious gaze has turned soft. At that moment...

Kazuki: Byakuyou-sama.

Chapter 4 - Dark Intentions

After the tour of the castle, the sunlight was shining in from the window by the time we returned to the room. 

Kazuki: Byakuyou-sama... Thank you very much. 

Kazuki-sama politely bowed and quietly left the room. After Byakuyou-san sighed, he looked at me. 

Byakuyou: Good work, thanks. 

MC: No problem...

Byakuyou: What? Sounding so down. That's not like you. 

As he chuckled with a smile, he said that cheerfully. When the 3 of us were going around the castle, Byakuyou-san would worry about me like this. Although, I noticed that Kazuki-sama would tremble as if she was in pain because of that. 

(We really are doing something mean to Kazuki-sama.) 

Byakuyou: Are you okay? Are you feeling unwell?

MC: Byakuyou-san, you know-

Before I could finish, Byakuyou-san placed his hand on my forehead with an anxious look. 

Byakuyou: ... 

- Don't say it (☽)

MC: I'm okay.

When I said that, Byakuyou-san softly held my shoulder.

Byakuyou: I made you overdo it... Go take your time to rest. 

Byakuyou-san said that gently. 

MC: ...

Without saying anything else, I smiled softly as he quietly left the room. As the leftover scent of plums was lightly lingering, I was feeling overwhelmed for some reason. 

(Now, my role has ended... But. Why do I feel so sad?) 

At that moment...

Kazuki: Um... MC-sama.

Just as it felt like I was passing by Byakuyou-san, a frail voice called out to me from outside of the room.

MC: Kazuki-sama!? Is something the matter?

Kazuki: If it's all right, won't you come take a walk with me in the courtyard?

From the sliding door, Kazuki-sama said that shyly. 

MC: With me? 

Kazuki: Yes. As Byakuyou-sama's lover... You're someone more important than me.

MC: Kazuki-sama... 

I couldn't bring myself to refuse those feelings. 

MC: Yes, of course.

I headed to the garden with Kazuki-sama. When we arrived at the garden, our shadows were softly made by the moonlight. 

Kazuki: I'm envious of you. Being loved by Byakuyou-sama like that. 

I felt a sharp pain from those words. 

Kazuki: I...

As Kazuki-sama's voice was shaking, a tear fell along her cheek. 

MC: Kazuki-sama...

Kazuki: My apologies, but I can't stand it anymore.

As tears were falling from Kazuki-sama's eyes one after another, they shined like jewels.

Kazuki: Even though I love Byakuyou-sama so much...

When Kazuki-sama covered her face with her hands, I couldn't help, but feel pain. 

(I can't stay quiet anymore.)

MC: Kazuki-sama, actually-

The moment I reached out to Kazuki-sama..

MC: Eh...? 

Some men with swords surrounded me and Kazuki-sama. 

Kazuki: That's why, you're in my way. 

Right beside me, she said that with a cold dark voice. 

MC: Kazuki-sama!?

She removed her hands from her face and glared at me angrily. As the moonlight shined on the sharp swords, fear was spreading throughout my body. 

Kazuki: Get rid of her. 

The moment Kazuki-sama murmured that... The men around us charged at me all at once...
