Caliburn - Prince of Avalon - Moon End

Chapter 6 - A Messenger from the Force

A few days have passed ever since Caliburn went to subjugate a monster...

-Flashback-

Caliburn: Also, I'm used to subjugating monsters. It's normal.

-Flashback-

(Caliburn... I hope nothing happens to him...)

When I thought of that, I heard rapid footsteps passing by my room and throughout the hallway...

(Did something happen...)

Feeling uneasy, I opened the door and looked at the soldier that passed by.

MC: Um, did something happen?

Soldier: Princess... The truth is, a messenger from the subujugation force has arrived just now.

MC: ...!

Due to the soldier being hesitant to speak with his head down, I felt that it was bad news.

-Flashback-

Caliburn: I'll succeed in the subjugation and return safely.

-Flashback-

When I remembered the day of Caliburn's departure, I was unable to sit still.

MC: Please tell me what happened.

Soldier: But, Princess...

MC: Please.

The soldier was bewildered by my request and at the same time, the king appeared.

King: I'm going to hold a meeting about the messenger's report. The princess can join in as well.

Soldier: Your Majesty...!

King: I don't mind. The princess is uneasy after hearing that.

MC: Your Majesty, thank you very much...!

I followed the king and hurried to the meeting...

Chapter 7 - To the Frontlines

In order to hear the messenger's report, I went to the meeting with the king. When we quickly entered, the atmosphere inside was intense as the leaders had stern looks on their faces.

Messenger: The subjugation force is currently going after a different kind of monster. Because of that, they need more medical supplies and reinforcements.

King: I see... It's not exactly bad news, but it's not good either.

(Bad news...)

I trembled when I understood the meaning behind the king's words. As I felt anxiety rising, I started to feel pain.

(I don't want to just wait for his return like this...)

MC: Your Majesty, please let me do something to help.

King: Princess... I can't. The frontlines are a dangerous place.

MC: I know. But...

King: ...Are you worried about Caliburn?

MC: Yes...

King: ...

The king thought about it with a troubled expression, but...

King: In that case, I'll let you go with the aiding force.

MC: ...Thank you very much!

King: It's just as Caliburn said.

MC: Eh...?

King: It's nothing... He just said that you're a little different from a normal princess.

MC: Caliburn said that...

After taking a deep breath, the king shouted at the soldiers.

King: Make sure to courteously protect the princess. Don't let any harm come to her!

Soldier: Yes!

King: Princess... I'll leave my son to you. He's strong and because of that, his fragile side will catch up to him... So please...

MC: ...! Yes, of course...!

Once I was given permission to go, I departed the castle with the force...

......

It took us half a day to arrive at the frontlines' base in order to bring in medical supplies. Just as I was about to help the soldiers...

Caliburn: MC...!?

A flustered face was shown as my name was called out. While I was relieved to see Caliburn, he furrowed his brow with a stern look.

(Caliburn? Somehow, he's...)

MC: Caliburn, are you hurt somewhere...

Caliburn: Come here.

MC: ...!

He suddenly grabbed my wrist and took me somewhere before I could respond. As I was confused, we stopped at a rocky cliff where there was no one around and at that moment, my feet got tangled after following him.

MC: Ow...

Despite my cry from the impact, Caliburn looked at me sternly.

Caliburn: Why did you come here? I told you to wait at the castle.

I cowered from his angry tone.

MC: I'm sorry...

Caliburn: Do you have any idea how dangerous this place is?

MC: I was worried about you...

Caliburn: ...

Caliburn became silent with a stern expression.

Caliburn: ...Stay within the base and please, don't leave or go outside.

Caliburn lets go of my hand and leaves with his back facing me.

(What should I do... I made him mad. How foolish of me...)

I stood still as I felt sad at the moment...

Nurse: Princess... My apologies, I ended up overhearing... Are you okay?

A female nurse that came here on the same horse as me walked over here with a worried look.

MC: Yes... It seems like I did something unnecessary...

Nurse: ...The battle's situation is pretty bad, so it's no wonder that he's uptight. Even so, it can't be helped because Caliburn-sama is worried about you. So, please cheer up.

MC: Thank you very much.

I somehow gave her a smile and the two of us returned to the base.

Although... After that, I haven't gotten the chance to speak with Caliburn as time went by...

Last Chapter - Becoming His Support

In the blue sky, stars were twinkling intensely...

-Flashback-

Caliburn: Why did you come here? I told you to wait at the castle.

-Flashback-

I felt pain as I remembered when Caliburn gave me a stern look.

(Even though I came here to help, he got mad...)

After that... From within the base, I realized how much I stood out as I watched Caliburn giving out commands. Caliburn doing his duty wtih a frightening expression wasn't like how I knew him...

(Aside from being a soldier, he's like this in the frontlines...)

As I was feeling downhearted, tears gradually began to form. I didn't want to worry the others again, so I quietly went outside of the base...

Once I was away from the base, I sat down on a nearby rock.

The scent of the grass blew with the nightly wind as I looked up at the sky that was filled with stars.

(It's not so scary to look at the night sky filled with stars, but...)

I looked at the ominously dark prairie. From somewhere afar, I could hear a beast howling.

(It really is scary... What a dangerous place. No wonder Caliburn got angry...)

The moment I got up after realizing that fact...

Caliburn: ...What are you doing?

MC: !

I turned around to see Caliburn with a different expression on his face.

Caliburn: There's a den of monsters around here.

MC: I-I'm sorry.

After I said that, a monster howled again. Although, this time, it sounded really close by.

MC: ...!

When I quickly looked around my surroundings, Caliburn grabbed my arm and pulled me towards his chest. As he held me, he cautiously watched his surroundings.

MC: ...

I could hear his heartbeat from his chest.

Caliburn: ...It's okay, it ran off.

MC: That's good...

Caliburn: Didn't I tell you? It's a dangerous place.

When he said that coldly, I trembled.

MC: I'm sorry... I wanted to help, but I ended up troubling you instead... Still...

I tightly gripped my trembling hands and looked straight at Caliburn.

MC: I'm glad that you're okay... If you have gotten gravely injured, I don't know what I would do...

Caliburn: ...!

Caliburn looked down at me with a pained expression.

MC: Caliburn...?

Caliburn: ...Dammit!

I was surprised when he said that bitterly and then...

MC: ...!!

I was suddenly pushed down on top of the grass.

MC: Calibu-... Mm.

He held down my wrists and forcibly snatched my lips.

MC: Caliburn...!

Caliburn: Quiet.

He gave me a heated kiss from a different angle. It was overbearingly rough, but that's how I saw it from the bottom of my heart.

(Why is he... doing this...)

I pushed against Caliburn's chest, but I couldn't resist his strong strength.

Caliburn: MC, are you refusing me...?

MC: That's not...

Caliburn widened his eyes when he noticed the tears in my eyes. He loosens his grip around my wrists.

Caliburn: Sorry... I understand that you came here because you were worried.

Caliburn held me as he looked down in pain.

Caliburn: ...The subjugation force is doing good because of the reinforcements coming here, which made me pretty irritated. That's why you should've waited for me... I got irritated from showing you how beaten up I was...

MC: I'm sorry about that... I shouldn't have come here.

Caliburn: ...

Caliburn slowly opened his eyes.

Caliburn: MC... I won't be so rough, so can I hug you?

MC: Eh...

When I nodded confusedly, he gently hugged me.

Caliburn: I wanted you to be in a safe place. But, seeing your face made me happy.

MC: Caliburn...

Caliburn: Yet, I ended up scaring you... How pathetic of me to get angry.

I raised my head and looked at Caliburn's eyes. Despite how strong he is, his eyes were shaking helplessly...

Caliburn: At the time of my departure... Seeing you being concerned has awakened feelings that I've never felt before in my heart...

-Flashback-

Calibun: ...

MC: Caliburn?

Caliburn: It's nothing... I understand, I promise. I'll succeed in the subjugation and return safely.

-Flashback-

Caliburn: ...I'll make it quick and return to you unharmed right away... I must carry out that promise after all...

MC: ...I came here so that I can help you. Because I wanted to do something for you...

Caliburn: MC... Thank you so much.

When Caliburn pulled me and buried his head into my shoulder, he sighed in relief.

Caliburn: Let's stay like this... for a little while.

MC: Okay...

As I became reassured by his feelings, I wrapped my hands around his back.

Caliburn: I'll...return to you safely...

After he murmured that, I nodded deeply. From here on, I wanted to help him on his battle... I strongly made that wish to the stars in the night sky...
