Chapter 7 - Repelling Successful

As a systematic driving sound was made, the colossal scarecrow moved forward. While Leeya-san was steering it, he was showing a serious look on his face... 

When we arrived at town... 

Leeya: Go, Giant Scarecrow No. 1! Attack those crows!!

Sterring the control stick, Leeya-san chanted some kind of strange spell at the same time. 

(How strange... It feels like the scarecrow's own body has come to life.) 

The scarecrow that Leeya-san has built was moving with his own magic powers. 

(Is that why it feels like it's alive?) 

Leeya: Go! Alright!! Nothing's going wrong with my plan!

Leeya-san raised his voice triumphantly. 

The crows that were attacking the town were driven away before we knew it. 

(Wow... That's good!) 

Although, we were still unaware, about the big changes that were going to happen to the livelihoods of Leeya-san and the townspeople after this... 

Chapter 8 - Emergency Stop

The moment we've succeeded in repelling against the crows that were attacking the town... 

Leeya: W-What the! Why can't I stop it!? 

MC: W-What's wrong?

Leeya: I can't... stop this guy!

It seems like he's unable to stop the scarecrow somehow. 

MC: Leeya-san, if you calm down, you'll find a way...

Leeya: How can I calm down!! Dammit! Just when I thought that I have succeeded in activating it for the first time...!

The colossal scarecrow was quickly leaving the town all on it's own. 

(If this keeps up... What are we going to do!?) 

Leeya: Looks like it can't be helped, I'm going to have to use the emergency stop. 

MC: Eh? You had something like that? 

Leeya: Yeah, in case of emergencies. But, once I push it... 

MC: U-Um, what'll happen? 

Leeya: ...This guy won't be able to respond or move anymore. It did help us once. Even if it falls apart, I can... 

MC: Leeya-san... 

Leeya: Don't make that kind of face. If it keeps on going like this, it'll destroy everything in the kingdom, that's a choice I can't allow. 

Once he looked like he has made his decision, Leeya-san destroyed the cover over the emergency stop button. Then... 

MC: ...It stopped...? 

When a strange sound was made, the colossal scarecrow stopped it's movements...

After the colossal scarecrow had finally stopped, it was in the middle of a river that was further away from town. 

Leeya: Haa... This sucks. 

MC: But, you were able to get rid of the crows. 

When the two of us left the pilothouse and went outside, our shoulders dropped down tiredly. 

Leeya: I can't say that it was either perfect or a success in the end. 

Leeya-san has sighed many times at that point. When he moved his gaze forward, he became surprised and then... 

Leeya: Look out!!

He strongly held my body to shield me. 

(W-What!?) 

The moment my heartbeat became fast in surprise, the next surprising thing happened. Somehow, we were only being attacked by the crows here. 

Leeya: Kuh, what's with these guys...! That's low!!

While Leeya-san was protecting me with one arm, he tried driving the crows away.

Just as I was about to think about what we should do somehow. 

Townsperson 1: OOOOHHHH!!!

Townsperson 2: What are you doing to Leeya-sama!

The townspeople came running over here in a big crowd. In their hands, they had mirrors to reflect the sunlight, scarecrows and handmade eyeballs*. 

T/N: Inflatable balloons with huge eyeballs on them that are used to repel birds

Leeya: What's... that...? 

As Leeya-san was taken aback from what was happening so suddenly, he realized that the people were helping him and raised his voice happily. 

Leeya: Alright! Those guys are amazing!

With loud voices, the many people poorly attacked the crows all at once and made them flap their wings in surprise.After that, the crows fled off immediately... 

Chapter 9 - Incomprehensible Calculations

Just as we were attacked by the crows on top of the colossal scarecrow after using the emergency stop, the ones who saved us were...

Townsperson 1: Leeya-sama! Are you okay!?

Townsperson 2: Leeya-sama!

Townsperson 3: Leeya-sama!!

When we descended from the colossal scarecrow, Leeya-san became surrounded by the townspeople that had worried looks on their faces. 

Leeya: Yeah, I'm okay. It's thanks to you guys for saving us!

Townsperson 1: Leeya-sama... Of course!

Leeya: But, I'm surprised. I didn't think that you guys could think for yourselves! Thanks. 

It felt like Leeya-san was overflowing with gratitude and deep emotions. 

-Flashback-

Leeya: The guys in this kingdom don't know how to think with their own brains. That's why I'm the only one that can reconstruct this castle right now.

MC: ...You're going to reconstruct this castle all by yourself? 

Leeya: Yeah, there's no one else that I can rely on. 

-Flashback-

(That wasn't true...) 

MC: Isn't this good, Leeya-san? 

Filled with happiness, I smiled broadly at Leeya-san. 

Leeya: Yeah, looks like they were able to confront a crisis just this once. 

His expression that was gloomy about the colossal scarecrow has brightened up completely.

Leeya: Alright! I've decided to build a town here! First off, we need to maintain a secure waterway. And then, build a tower by using this huge scarecrow as the base. From now on, even when the crows come again, it'll be easy to defend against htem once we finish building it!

Leeya-san had a lively look in his eyes. Suddenly... I remembered what Leeya-san told me what he wishes for.

Leeya: If... If this project does protect this kingdom well... I want to go traveling like in the past again. Just like back then, I want to travel to see some amazing things that'll get me excited...

-Flashback-

(...Instead of traveling, he obtained that radiance just now.) 

As a bright, strong intelligence of hope was showing in his eyes, I couldn't help, but think that... 

Then, after a while... 

As the construction of the new town was going well, Leeya-san has been getting along with the townspeople more than ever. 

(Before, it felt like they were only relying on him, but... It feels like they're truly getting along right now.) 

Then, when the town construction had ended for today in the evening as well... Leeya-san and I were at the top of the scarecrow with our shoulders aligned against each other. 

Leeya: The sunlight... It looks the same from when I saw it in the town before as I'm seeing it in the town here. 

Leeya-san said that with a slightly soft tone. 

Leeya: Does the sun look the same as the one you saw in the place you were from? 

MC: Eh...? 

Leeya: I'm sure that... it's the same... 

Just as he broke into a soft smile and got closer...

He softly hugged me from behind. 

MC: U-Um... 

Leeya: You don't like it? 

MC: ...

When he said that with a smile, Leeya-san was acting more childish that he has been... He seemed mischievous, yet... Charming.

As I was feeling overwhelmed and wasn't saying anything, Leeya-san hugged me a bit more tightly. Then... His soft singing voice tickled my ear. 

Leeya: It'll shine brightly now~♪

(What a happy... and gentle singing voice.) 

Even though I didn't know what to say while feeling embarrassed and happy. 

(I want to... stay like this forever.) 

I thought of that as I continued to listen to him sing...
