Chapter 1 - A Shy Prince

Kingdom of Weapons, Avalon, September... 

Among the bright light that was released from a ring, a figure swayed as a bit of his looks were forming. 

Then, as the light was flickering, the form of a young man with masculine features appeared. 

??: Uu... Mm? 

After his eyes narrowed from the bright light for a moment, he made a surprised face and looked around. 

??: ...! This place is? 

Just as he readied himself with a huge shield, a strong vigilant look was in his eyes. 

MC: Um... Are you okay? 

??: Eh...? 

When I spoke to him from behind, he turned around quickly. 

??: ...!

The moment our eyes met, his cheeks turned red. 

MC: Um...? 

??: Ah, uh... That's, I'm fine... 

While his face was still red, he responded shakily. 

??: B-By the way, you are? 

MC: I'm... 

When I explained the details to him, he became surprised and nodded deeply. 

??: ...I see. So, you saved me. I'm Prytwen. You have my thanks. 

The moment he murmured that as he gave me a look filled with gratitude, respect and affection... From somewhere afar, we heard something that sounded like a beast's roar. 

(What...?) 

Prytwen: ...This place is dangerous. I'll take you someplace safe. 

With him leading the way, I quickly moved from that area...

After walking with him for a bit, we arrived at a hill where wildflowers were blooming. Aside from the wilderness from before, rabbits and squirrels were running around while the birds' chirpings were heard. 

Prytwen: We'll be safe here... About saving me, uh, thanks. Next time, I want to show you my gratitude at least. So... 

After he hesitated to speak for a moment, he readied himself and raised his face. 

Prytwen: C-Can we meet again...!

When he asked that loudly with a bit of a tearful expression, I became surprised and nodded. 

MC: Sure, I'll come visit you soon. 

After hearing my response, he happily smiled. Between us, there was a refreshing scent of green grass and then, a gentle breeze blew past us... 

Chapter 2 - Specializing in Defense

When Prince Prytwen invited me as thanks for the day before, I arrived at the castle of Avalon to see him. 

Just as I arrived at the castle's courtyard, Prince Prytwen was giving orders in military training. 

Prytwen: Okay, that's it for today's training. As planned, the force will be off for 3 days starting tomorrow. Everyone, make sure to rest properly. Dismissed!

Being brief, the soldiers saluted to Prince Prytwen all at once. As Prince Prytwen saluted back with a hand against his forehead, he looked so gallant that I watched him without thinking. 

(Prince Prytwen has a bit of a different air around him than when we first met...) 

When I thought of that, I watched him from afar... One of the men approached Prince Prytwen. 

??: Good work. 

Prytwen: Yeah, good work. You managed to hold back your usual fatigue. 

??: The body can't become lazy to a certain degree from resting... By the way, it looks like a guest has been watching. 

Prytwen: Eh? 

When Prince Prytwen turned towards here, his face instantly turned red. 

Prytwen: MC...!? H-How long were you there...!

MC: Prytwen-san, thank you for inviting me. 

Prytwen: N-No, same here. Thanks for coming...

To hide his embarrassment, he placed his arm against his red face. When he reacted the same way from when we first met, it felt pleasant somehow. 

(Could Prytwen-san be a shy person?) 

??: Well then, I'll be going. I'll be rooting for you, Brother. 

(Ah, that was his younger brother...) 

Prytwen: Wha... You...!!

After patting Prytwen-san's shoulder as he was turning even more red, his younger brother bowed and left. 

Prytwen: D-Don't worry about what he said just now. 

MC: Okay...? 

Prytwen: Uh, anyway, how about we... Wait for a bit. 

When Prytwen-san called for a messenger, tea was prepared in an Eastern styled house in the courtyard. 

Prytwen: Sorry about wearing my military uniform. I actually planned to end today's training a bit earlier though... 

As Prytwen-san sat down on the opposite side of the white round table, he carefully placed the shield near his feet. 

MC: So, your weapon is a shield. 

Prytwen: Yeah. I'm an expert in defense. I protect my dear friends with this shield.

MC: A-Are you okay? 

When I became surprised and leaned forward, Prytwen-san backed away in a panic.

Prytwen: I-I-I-I-I'm fine! I'm okay with this sort of thing!

Although, Prytwen-san's cheeks and lips turned red as he smiled. Then, as we were in the courtyard, the gentle sunlight shinedo n us brightly as if it was watching over us... 

Chapter 3 - The Town of Avalon

As the sun was up high in the sky of Avalon... 

(The sunlight feels so nice...) 

After finishing breakfast, I was looking outside from the room window and then, I heard the sound of a knock on the door. 

Prytwen: MC... It's me, but can I talk to you? 

(Prytwen-san?)

When I opened the door, Prytwen-san was there all nervous. 

Prytwen: G-Good morning!

MC: Good morning. 

Prytwen: Nice day today! ...Not that, uh... 

MC: ...? 

As Prytwen-san was hesitating, his gaze wandered around aimlessly.

Since I didn't think that he would be so nervous over inviting me, I nodded in surprise.

As I was worried, Prytwen-san sighed in relief and I went to town with him... 

When we arrived in the town of Avalon, it was bustling with a lot of people that had weapons on them. 

Townsman 1: Ah, it's Prytwen-sama!

Once the people saw Prytwen-san, there were suddenly cheers. 

Townsman 2: His dignity is so cool as always...!

Townsman 3: We, the people of Avalon, give credit to Prytwen-sama after all!

Prytwen: Thank you. The unit's public training will be carried out soon. So, please come watch until then. 

Townsman 3: Sure! I'm looking forward to it!

Prytwen: Yeah, since everyone in town will be coming, the soldiers are going to feel even more nervous. 

He was overflowing with dignity in front of the townspeople. 

Townswoman 1: He's so admiringly intense. Also, isn't Prytwen-sama really strong? How nice... 

Townswoman 2: I'm so jealous of the girl next to him~!

Prytwen-san didn't flinch from the girls' high-pitched voices.

MC: Sure, I'd love to. 

After hearing my response, Prytwen-san deeply sighed in relief. But, soon after that...

From the castle walls, the ground shook as a loud sound reverberated. 

MC: ...!

Just as I was staggering, Prytwen-san held me with one of his arms. 

Prytwen: Are you okay? ...That was surprising. 

MC: Yes... Thank you. 

As Prytwen-san looked down at me worriedly, I somehow nodded as a response. 

MC: What was that...? 

Prytwen: It can't be... 

Prytwen-san put some more strength in his arm that was holding my shoulder. 

Townsman 1: It's a monster! A monster has broken through the castle wall...!

During the ongoing series of multiple tremors, someone yelled that out... 

Chapter 4 - Monster Attack

Suddenly, there was a loud sound along with a tremor... 

Townsman 1: It's a monster! A monster has broken through the castle wall...!

With screams and chaos spreading, the town fell into a panic. 

Prytwen: Everyone, don't panic! Get away from the castle walls and take refuge in the center of town!

When Prytwen-san gave directions with the look of a commanding soldier, the townspeople followed his orders and ran off. 

MC: ... 

(A monster attack? That sounds terrible... I heard that the monsters in Avalon are colossal...) 

As I was in a daze from the sudden events, I got dragged into the waves of people that were trying to escape. 

MC: ...!

Prytwen: !!

Then, Prytwen-san pulled my hand and I was in his arms the next moment. 

Prytwen: Everyone, calm down! Just hurry and follow the soldier's directions!! We'll be there, so don't worry!

When Prytwen-san said that gallantly, the townspeople's mayhem started to calm down. 

(Wow...) 

What he showed in front of me gave me a feeling that I've never felt before. 

Prytwen: Who knows how dangerous this place is going to be, You should get away too. 

As he held my shoulders, he told me that with a strong confident look in his eyes. 

MC: What about you...? 

Prytwen: I'll be heading to the castle wall. It's my duty as prince to protect the people. 

As I was silent with an uneasy feeling holding me, Prytwen-san furrowed his brow troubledly.

Boy: No, it's dangerous!

Girl: I'll come back once I get my doll! Let go of me, Big Brother!

When the girl shook off the boy's arm that was holding her back, she ran off.

Just as the boy was about to go after her, I quickly stopped him. 

MC: I'll go after her, you need to get to a safe area. 

Boy: But... 

MC: I'll bring her back. 

Townsboy: Okay... Got it... 

Going the opposite way of the people that were running towards the center of town, I went after the girl and headed towards the castle wall...
