Chapter 7 - Sudden Invite

One morning after a few days have passed since the mining incident... Ruber-san was busy as usual, so I haven't gotten a chance to see him. 

-Flashback-

Ruber: ...All that I want to do is help the patients that are in front of me. Getting tied down to such pointless rules is so annoying. 

-Flashback-

(Ruber-san looked kind of sad at that time.) 

As the sunlight was shining through the window, I thought back to what he said in a daze... From the other side of the hallway, I noticed that the person that I was thinking of was approaching. 

MC: Ruber-san!

Ruber: ...MC. 

MC: Good morning. Are you heading off somewhere? 

Ruber: Yeah. To town...

After responding, Ruber-san stared at me. 

Ruber: Perfect timing. You come too. 

MC: Eh...? 

Just as I became confused, I quickly followed him from behind as he was walking... 

Chapter 8 - The Secret Clinic

In a room where the curtains are closed, there was the scent of a disinfectant solution drifting... By following Ruber-san, we arrived at a small old building outside of town. 

(This place is...) 

From what I can tell from the bed that looks like a hospital bed and the medicines that were set up neatly on the shelves, I can guess that it's a clinic. 

Ruber: This clinic was left to me by the man I called my teacher. I hide my social status by using this place to examine the patients in town. 

MC: I see. 

(Ruber-san's teacher... I'm sure that he was a praiseworthy person.) 

Happy that I learned something about him again, the warm feeling made me smile. 

MC: Are you going to examine patients today as well? 

Ruber: No. I'm closing this clinic. 

MC: Closing... You're not going to use it anymore? 

Ruber: Yeah. There's nothing else I can do for this kingdom anymore. I've introduced a trustworthy town doctor to the patients that relied on me. 

(What does he mean...?) 

The words that he said so calmly made me blink, but... As Ruber-san still kept a calm expression, he used a key on the medicine cabinet with robotic movements. 

Ruber: Me giving medical treatment to the people of this kingdom, Father... The king heard about it. If I keep on doing that sort of thing in the kingdom, my rights as a doctor might get revoked. 

MC: No way...!

I shouted that sadly from those unbelievable words. 

(Despite that Ruber-san just wanted to help his patients...) 

Ruber: Why are you making such a dark face? 

As I hung my head down and bit my lip, Ruber-san looked at me oddly. 

Ruber: This is my problem. It has nothing to do with you. 

MC: Even so, but... 

Feeling frustrated that there's nothing I could do for him, my heart throbbed heavily. As I was hesitating, his fingers pushed up my bangs. 

Ruber: ...If you were me, what would you do? 

MC: Eh? 

Ruber: Would you listen obediently to what the king said? Or would you defy him and go with your own beliefs... Which do you think is the right answer? 

Ruber-san only looked at me as if he was observing my response. 

MC: Why are you asking me that? 

Ruber: It's just simple curiosity. It's because my way of thinking has somehow become strange ever since I've met someone like you. 

Ruber-san's face was close at a breathing distance. 

Ruber: A person like you has fascinated me. 

As it felt like his slightly heated green eyes were piercing through me, I gulped... 

Chapter 9 - His Answer

In the quiet clinic, we could hear each other breathing... 

-Flashback-

Ruber: Would you listen obediently to what the king said? Or would you defy him and go with your own beliefs... Which do you think is the right answer? 

-Flashback-

For a while, I thought on how to respond to Ruber-san's question... 

MC: I don't think there is a right answer... 

Ruber: ...What do you mean? 

He squinted his eyes as if he was trying to seek out my true intentions. 

MC: Look... No matter what you choose, wouldn't you end up giving up something? 

(His own kingdom, his beliefs as a doctor, they're both very important to Ruber-san.) 

MC: If that's the case, you should choose the one that won't make you leave any regrets. 

When I told him that honestly, Ruber-san blinked a few times... 

Ruber: In short, do what I like. 

As he placed his hand on his chin in agreement, he softly murmured that. 

MC: That's not what I meant...!

Without noticing how frantic I was, Ruber-san slowly turned his head. 

Ruber: No, I don't mind. From the start, I've made my decision when you were thinking of an answer. 

MC: ...What are you going to do from here on? 

Ruber: I'm leaving this kingdom. 

With no hesitation on his face, he said that clearly. 

Ruber: Since before, I've wanted to travel and give treatment to patients everywhere. Happiness, I've been saving up to do that after all. 

MC: But, won't you make the king mad by doing that...

Ruber: Do you think I would worry about something like that? 

As a particle of sunlight was shining in from the gap of the curtains, it bordered around him. When Ruber-san grinned, he looked somewhat lively... 

(I couldn't think of anything else to describe Ruber-san except virtuous... Despite that he's an unusual person.) 

As I was taken aback, I convinced myself "that is just like him"... 

Last Chapter - Giving in to Feelings

The sound of the clinic equipment on the shelves were strangely loud as they were being put in boxes... 

(Going traveling again... Which means that I'm going to part from Ruber-san now.) 

As I was helping with closing up the clinic, I sighed in secret. 

(I wonder when I'll see Ruber-san again.) 

When I thought of that while feeling down, I wished for this time to continue a little bit while longer. 

MC: It'd be nice if we could meet again somewhere... 

Just as I murmured that as Ruber-san's tall back was facing me, he slowly turned towards me. 

Ruber: I'm taking you with me on my travels too. 

MC: Eh? 

After he said that as if it was obvious, I tilted my head to the side. Then, his fingers approached me and held up my wrist. 

Ruber: You're the one who said not to leave any regrets. If I part from you, I'll be leaving regrets. 

MC: That's... 

(Does Ruber-san want to stay together more too?) 

As I wasn't resisting the rising happiness that I was feeling, the next moment...

Ruber: You don't seem to understand why I brought you here. 

When Ruber-san put some more strength into his arm, my field of vision moved and... 

Before I knew it, my back was against the bed as I was being held down by him. 

MC: Ruber-san...?

Ruber: You, don't you know that there's a man here? 

As I was trembling in confusion, Ruber-san looked at me calmly. 

MC: A-A man... 

Ruber: That's what lovers and patients call their partners. 

(Why is he telling me that so suddenly...?) 

After he gave that simple explanation, my heartbeat became painfully fast. Even though I couldn't come up with some kind of response, my voice became stuck in my throat. 

Ruber: Judging from your reaction, you don't seem to know. 

While enjoying my reactions, Ruber-san chuckled and broke into a smile. As he looked up at me up close with a charming smile, I looked at him the next moment... 

MC: ...A-Are you teasing me? 

Ruber: Unfortunately, I'm no good with jokes. 

I tried to converse with him, but Ruber-san handled it poorly. 

Ruber: I was thinking on how I wanted to seduce you. As a man, I want to embrace you lovingly... Do you understand what I'm saying? 

MC: ... 

(Lovingly...) 

As I wasn't saying anything, his fingers touched my nape. The cold sensation made my shoulders twitch. 

Ruber: Your body temperature is rising. Your pulse too... It's going pretty fast. ...Do you need some treatment? 

Ruber-san said that calmly, but his eyes that were looking at me had a warm look in them... When his lips touched my cheek teasingly, my heartbeat became louder even more. 

Ruber: If you don't need it, tell me. We feel the same, so... be good. 

MC: Asking something like that is unfair... 

Just as I was about to hide my burning face, his large hands stopped my movements. 

Ruber: Do you hate unfair men? 

When he whispered that to me with a smile, his breath made my lips tremble. As he looked straight at me thoroughly, it didn't seem like he'll let me off if I told him a lie. 

(I would never hate him, I know that much.) 

Ruber: Your reactions, they're more fluent than words. ...I won't be able to stop myself if you're making a face like that. 

He placed his rough lips over mine. 

MC: Mm... 

As an effect from the forceful kiss, my vision became a little blurry... 

(I don't hate being touched like this, so I'm sure that...) 

Feelings of love were faintly rising, whether I was aware of it or not.

Ruber: I'm not good at expressing my feelings. It's just that... You're the first person that I've wanted to be with. That's all I can think of. 

As his lips went down onto my skin, I couldn't stop his fingers... 

(I want to stay by Ruber-san's side too.) 

Instead of telling him how I felt, I wrapped my hands around his back that was cladded in a hygienic scent...
