Chapter 6 - Feeling Irritated

-Flashback-

Rufus: I'm feeling a little irritated, so I'm going to go play for a bit... 

-Flashback-

Just as he brought forth a black mist, a child screamed soon after... 

(Don't tell me...) 

When I thought of the worse, I ran towards to where the scream was coming from. 

......

The bad signs were showing that I was getting close. 

(Rufus...!) 

Within the black mist that was summoned, I searched for him and at that moment... A white line ran across my field of vision, which separated the mist and made it disappear. 

MC: Just now... 

Rufus: It was a lost dream eater. Don't they react to children's dreams? 

MC: Rufus!

Rufus looked down at the remains of the diluted mist as he was still trampling on it. Over there was a cowering child that was trembling. 

(Rufus... He saved him.) 

MC: Are you okay? 

Boy: Eek... Help!

MC: Ah, wait...!

Out of fear, the boy ran away with a scared expression. 

Rufus: Let him be. He'll calm down once he returns home and gets his kind family to pamper him. Haa... I wonder if it would've been worth it if that dream eater from before had devoured him. 

MC: Don't say something like that...!

(Saying something like that even though he saved him...) 

Overcome with sad feelings, I ended up saying that. 

MC: You were looking for that boy. I'm sure that he was scared and sad from being alone. Don't you understand how that feels, Rufus...? 

The moment I said that... The smile on Rufus' face disappeared and he furrowed his brow unpleasantly. 

Rufus: What do you know? 

MC: !

Rufus: Don't speak as if you understand me. 

When Rufus spat out those words, he disappeared from that spot...

Chapter 7 - Caressing His Heart

As I went after Rufus, I ran through the bustling town with bright lights. Then, when I saw his tall figure from behind, I finally caught up with him. 

MC: Rufus, tell me what I did to hurt your feelings. 

Rufus: Ahh, don't worry about it. I just don't like you being overly familiar with me. 

When Rufus showed a smile, he continued walking towards the setting sun. Just as I was thinking that we were getting close, it felt like Rufus' heart was getting further away... 

(I can't leave things as is...) 

MC: Rufus...!

I blocked Rufus' way and faced him. As I was looking at him in front of me, he suddenly grabbed my chin with his long fingers. 

MC: ...!

From the strength of his fingers, his irritation was hurting me. 

Rufus: I said that I have taken an interest in you. Just don't come any closer, got it? Otherwise, I won't be able to be kind to you. 

MC: What do you mean...? 

Rufus: Despite that I told you to be careful. Since we're pretty much allies now. Aren't you happy that I'm being kind to you? Like saying words that are sweet like chocolate and make you smile. 

MC: That's... 

Rufus: But, it's already time for the spell to be lifted. At this rate, who knows what'll happen? I might hurt the princess. 

When Rufus roughly backed away, he brushed up his hair. 

MC: The spell being lifted... 

Rufus: That's what I meant by "something beautiful". That was the time when it felt like magic. Once it goes away, everything will just disappear. Ahaha! Right here, if I forget everything that was beautiful today, nothing will go bad altogether!

Hearing him sounding so unnaturally cheerful made pain run through my heart miserably. 

MC: Why would you destroy something like that? Aren't you just avoiding it by denying it? 

(Even though I want to understand him just a little...) 

Rufus: Even so... Remember what I said? Don't stick around me anymore. 

There was no kindness in Rufus' eyes, but a cold look emitting within them. 

(Maybe...) 

If Rufus was going to give up here, it'll feel like I won't be able to reach his heart for all of eternity. 

MC: Are you afraid of having your own heart being touched? 

(Like Rufus' own body, it seems like he's afraid of his own heart being touched...) 

Rufus: Even though... I warned you... 

MC: Rufus... 

Just as I thought of that I heard him laugh scornfully... 

MC: ...!

When I felt pain from him pulling my arm forcefully, the distance between us suddenly got closer. 

Rufus: I'll break you just as you wish. From now on, a whole lot of memories will be flying around. 

His cold eyes squinted distortedly... Giving me no chance to escape, Rufus placed his lips over mine. 

MC: Mm...!

I couldn't see any anger or sadness from his emotions... Only the smooth sensation of his warm lips that were forced upon me without any refusal... 

Last Chapter - Being Scared of Rejection

Rufus: I'll break you just as you wish. From now on, a whole lot of memories will be flying around. 

-Flashback-

The pain was increasing as he was holding my arm. 

MC: Stop...!

Even though I turned my face away, I couldn't escape. Rufus chuckled as I felt his breath against my cheek. 

Rufus: you want to do this sort of thing because you want to get closer, right? Princess, you may look pure, but you're pretty assertive. 

MC: No...!

I raised my hand by impulse, but he easily caught it... 

Rufus: Kukuku... Ahahaha! Did you think that I was going to stop? Naive, Princess! 

When he glared at me with his dark eyes that were filled with madness, I breathed shakily. 

MC: Rufus... 

Rufus: That's what you talk about when you're with the kind prince!

As if he was showing off, his lips crawled on top of my hand. Heat was spreading again when I felt the warm sensation of his lips against my skin. 

MC: ... 

When he traced my back with his fingers, I could feel it going down slowly. 

Rufus: Ahaha... Even if you say no, I'll be carving myself into your body from here on. 

MC: Stop...!

Rufus: I wonder how people's hearts get trampled so easily... Just like the inside of that body. 

Rufus' lips got closer again. Although, he avoided looking at me for some reason as I was looking straight at him. 

MC: Stop... Rufus. 

Rufus: ... 

The sound of my heartbeat was echoing throughout my entire body. 

(Is Rufus scared...? No. I want to understand you...) 

When we looked at each other, so much time went by. Then, the insanity in his eyes that were staring at me has subsided... 

Rufus: Don't come inside me again... 

Even though he said that softly with anger... My chest tightened as he looked like he was on the verge of tears. 

Rufus: Don't do it again, Princess. 

MC: Rufus... 

Rufus: Come on, hurry and escape. To where the kind prince is. 

After saying that, Rufus released me. 

(I want to run away. But...) 

I couldn't move no matter what after seeing Rufus' eyes. Contrary to his words and behavior, it looked like his eyes were searching for something... 

(Despite rejecting me, he's scared of being rejected...) 

MC: I want to know how you feel, Rufus... 

Rufus: Like I said... You still don't understand... 

MC: If you're in some kind of pain, I want to bear it with you together. During the times when you're hurt, I'll protect you. Am I not allowed to think that way?

Rufus: !

Just as I was about to talk back, Rufus covered my mouth with his hand.

Rufus' large hand covered my eyes. I instantly felt his warmth and scent right next to me.

I heard him say my name affectionately. Then... 

Rufus: Any more of this, my heart won't stop shaking. It's still doing that now. 

After he placed a soft kiss against my forehead, he removed his hand from my eyes. 

Rufus: Aa~ah, I'm hungry from moving around so much. I want to eat chocolate. 

MC: Chocolate...? 

Rufus: Come on, let's go. Such iffy chocolate won't suit my tastes at all, so I want you to choose for me. Okay? Princess. 

Within the darkness, he went back to his usual moody self when I heard him call for me gently. 

(But...) 

The warmth that he left on my forehead still remains... I thought of how I didn't want to part from this warmth as I stood by his side...
