Chapter 6 - Within the Flames

In the blazing cabin, I desperately searched for the kitten. 

(Where is he...!?) 

At that moment, I heard the faint cry of the kitten. 

MC: Ah... 

From the shadow of a blanket, the kitten staggered out of it. 

MC: Thank goodness...!

When I held him, the kitten's body became very warm. 

(He became this warm...) 

The kitten trembled in my arms. 

MC: Just hang in there for a bit longer, we'll be out soon. 

Just as I said that to encourage the kitten... A large pillar came falling down loudly. 

MC: ...!

I tried to avoid the pillar to protect the kitten. But, it blocked the way out and now, there was nothing I could do. 

MC: ... 

My body froze in fear. As the blazing flames rose, it became hard to breathe... 

MC: Sai-san... Help... 

I said his name unconsciously. 

Sai: MC!

MC: Sai-san...!

When I looked up, Sai-san was reaching out to me among the blazing flames. 

Sai: MC...!

Just as I strongly held his hand, he strongly pulled my body. 

MC: Sai-san...!

While holding the kitten, I jumped into his chest and hugged him tightly. 

Sai: Stupid...! You're so... 

As I was held in Sai-san's arms, all my discouragement went away. 

(Sai-san is very warm...) 

Sai: I'll hold the kitten, so don't let go of me no matter what. 

Within the flames, Sai-san firmly pulled my hand. In the cabin that has turned red, I was being led by his earring that made a blue glimmer... 

Chapter 7 - Returning Together

As Sai-san was pulling my hand, we moved forward among the flames. 

(Somehow, my head's feeling hazy.) 

Due to breathing in too much smoke, my consciousness was becoming faint. 

(But, I need to walk firmly.) 

Although, contrary to my determination, the place look like it was about to crumble down.

Sai: MC...? 

Sai-san spoke worriedly when he noticed how I was feeling. 

Sai: MC, I'll leave him to you for a bit. 

When Sai-san said that, he entrusted the kitten to me. 

MC: ...Sai-san? 

Then, Sai-san strongly picked me up. 

MC: Sai-san, you're going to get tired by doing this... 

Sai: Just hold onto me. Also, cover your face in my chest. So that you won't breathe in any more smoke. 

MC: Okay... 

As I held onto Sai-san for a bit, we managed to get outside safely. 

MC: Thank you... 

Sai: ...I'm glad that you're all right. 

MC: ...Sai-san. 

Lots of people that gathered in front of the cabin were clamoring. 

Townspeople: P-Prince Sai! Are you all right...!

Sai: I'm okay. More importantly, hurry and get some water, everyone! MC. Rest here for a bit. 

Despite that Sai-san just got out of the flames while carrying me, he started giving orders to the people to work on extinguishing the fire. My heart skipped a beat from how reliable he looked. 

...... 

Then, once the fire had been extinguished safely, loud cheers were made around us. 

(Thank goodness...) 

Sai: MC, are you okay? 

MC: Yes... Sai-san, thank you so much. 

Just as I thanked him... 

Sai: Why would you do something so dangerous!? 

He shouted angrily. 

MC: ...The kitten was inside... 

After seeing Sai-san look so angry for the first time, I did my best to respond. As he looked at me, he sighed deeply. 

Sai: Is that so... You're seriously too reckless. 

(Sai-san...?) 

Sai: Really, don't do anything so reckless again... 

MC: ... 

Sai-san looked straight at me. His expression that was different than usual made my heart race. 

(Sai-san...) 

At that moment, the kitten approached our legs as it meowed. Sai-san looked at the sweet kitten for a while... 

Sai: ...I'm going to keep him in the castle. 

Then, he murmured that determinedly. 

MC: Eh... Are you sure? 

Sai: Yes. 

MC: But, what about the king? You mentioned that he hates animals... 

Sai: I'll keep him in one of the empty rooms in the castle in secret, so it'll be okay. If he does find out, won't you be with me when he gets angry? 

Sai-san looked at me with a mischievous smile. 

MC: Sure...!

Sai: Let's head back to the castle with everyone. 

When Sai-san said that happily, I narrowed my eyes without realizing it. After Sai-san getnly picked up the kitten that was near our legs, we left the cabin together... 

Last Chapter - I Don't Want to Lose You

As all the turmoil from earlier felt unreal, the stars were shining softly. 

-Flashback-

Sai: ...I'm going to keep him in the castle. 

-Flashback-

MC: Sai-san, why do you want to keep the kitten in the castle so suddenly? 

On our way back to the castle, I looked up at his face. 

Sai: ...Probably because of you guys. 

MC: What... do you mean...? 

Sai: It's because both you and him are always getting into trouble. 

MC: Eh...

When Sai-san chuckled with a smile, he looked straight into my eyes. 

Sai: Up till now, I've never had anything that I cared about deeply. No matter what I've dealt with... Even when I'm watching by just one step away, I only felt distant. 

MC: Sai-san... 

Sai: But, that's actually because I was only avoiding trouble. 

-Flashback-

Butler: He doesn't really take others into consideration and distances himself. 

-Flashback-

I remembered what the butler told me. 

Sai: But, when I saw you guys like that, you looked like you'll always end up getting into trouble. 

MC: T-That's... 

Sai-san gently smiled at me.

(Somehow, my heart hurts.) 

The kitten cried sweetly in Sai-san's arms. 

Sai: Let's get along from now on. 

Kitten: Meow. 

As I watched him pet the kitten's head, I broke into a smile. 

MC: I want to buy a bell for the kitten. 

Sai: I guess so. Since I'm going to keep him in the castle, let's go buy one. 

MC: Okay!

......

Sai-san and I started choosing a bell for the kitten in the town near the castle. As Sai-san was choosing a bell seriously, I became filled with happiness. 

(...Come to think of it. Sai-san isn't good with fire.)

When I remembered what happened up till now, Sai-san didn't seem like he did at all during the time he saved me. 

MC: Sai-san. 

Sai: What is it? 

MC: Thank you so much for earlier. Also... I'm sorry. 

Sai: It's okay now. I'm just glad you're all right. 

MC: You're weak against fire. Yet. 

When Sai-san slightly widened his eyes, he smiled. 

MC: ...? 

Sai: I wasn't feeling scared at that time. 

(Eh?)

After Sai-san said that, his face turned a little red as he averted his gaze from me. 

(Sai-san?) 

Sai: Can we walk for a bit? 

MC: ...Sure. 

While holding the bell that we bought, I walked beside Sai-san in town. Even though I'm only walking beside him, my heart was being noisy. 

Sai: MC. 

MC: Sai-san...? 

Suddenly, Sai-san held my hand and took me outside of town. 

MC: S-Sai-san...? 

As Sai-san was silent, he gently brought my hand to his face. 

Sai: ...

MC: ... 

Sai: ...

With a smile, Sai-san gently kissed my hand. 

MC: ...

The sudden action made my heartbeat increase.

Sai: During the time of the fire, I was scared that I was going to lose you. I... Up till now, I've avoided getting deeply involved with people. But, right now... I want you close by... I want to protect you.

MC: Sai-san... 

His hand lightly touched my lips. 

Sai: You, who's always getting into trouble, I can't leave you alone. 

His face slowly approached me... 

MC: ...

Like the wind, he snatched my lips away. Just as I was about to cover my mouth with both of my hands in embarrassment, he grabbed those hands.

Sai: One more time... 

He placed a somewhat forceful kiss on my lips. 

MC: ... 

When our lips slowly parted, Sai-san kept me in his arms. 

Sai: This is the first time I've felt like this... 

Our heartbeats resonated with each other. Before I knew it, I slowly wrapped my arms around his back as he was hugging me. 

(I, Sai-san...) 

The feeling that was being brought forth in my heart enveloped my entire body sweetly. 

Sai: MC... 

When he said my name with his voice that couldn't get any gentler, my heart throbbed. The comforting warmth of Sai-san's chest was spreading throughout my body...
