Chapter 1 - Sirius' Expression

Kingdom of Stars, Canes, May... 

(What a beautiful garden...) 

Servant: Right this way, MC-sama. 

Just as the view of the castle courtyard that was filled with flowers caught my eye and made my feet stop, the man that was showing me around called out to me softly. 

MC: O-Okay. 

When I woke up Sirius from a slumber, I was invited to the Kingdom of Stars, Canes, where he resides in. As I was walking in the courtyard to meet with the king... 

Sirius: Wait! Procyon! I said, wait!!

I heard a voice from afar. Along with the running footsteps of two people. 

(Huh... This voice...) 

Sirius: Geez. That was dangerous, I told him not to go off somewhere far. Where did he go? 

(I knew it, it's Sirius.) 

Sirius seems to have lost sight of someone and is looking for them while walking. 

Sirius: Hm...? Somehow, there's a different scent than usual... This scent is...

His feet stopped when he noticed me. 

Sirius: Ah, it was you...!

He looked happy for a moment, but soon after, Sirius made a glum look. 

(What's wrong? Did I do something to rub him the wrong way...) 

MC: U-Um. Hello.

Sirius: ...Yeah. 

MC: How have you been feeling... Since I've awakened you? 

Sirius: Aside from my condition, nothing has changed since before. I want to say thanks for saving me, but I've already told you that you should've woken me up sooner. So, you don't need to worry about it. 

As Sirius was making a sour look, he said that moodily. 

MC: Um, did I do something to make you hate me? 

Sirius: Eh? 

MC: Because you seem kind of upset... 

When I asked that, Sirius became flustered as his gaze went around. 

Sirius: N-No, I don't hate you. But, it's strange to be so overly familiar so suddenly! Also...

MC: !? 

When Sirius' face got closer, he placed his nose against my nape. The sudden close distance made my heart race. 

(S-Sirius...?)

When I froze at that moment, Sirius' long eyelashes swayed as he moved his eyelids. As the rough impression that he gives out differs to what he was saying, his handsome looks made my heartbeat oddly fast. 

Sirius: I don't hate your scent...

As Sirius smiled, his breath lightly touched my nape. 

MC: Ah, Sirius... 

Then, once again, Sirius... 

Sirius: Hey, Procyon!

He turned his back on me and went searching for someone. 

(Just what was that...) 

I firmly pressed my hand against the spot of my chest, where my heart is beating... After that, I headed to see the king just as I have planned to... 

Chapter 2 - A Favor from the King

-Flashback-

Sirius: I don't hate your scent... 

-Flashback-

After encountering Sirius in the courtyard, I headed to where the king was. Once I've entered the room that I was led to, the majestic king was sitting at the throne while waiting. 

MC: Sorry for making you wait. 

I quickly bowed. 

King: So, you're the Traumerei Princess. 

MC: Yes. I'm MC.

King: What a lovely princess. You must be tired from such a long journey. My apologies for inviting you to such a faraway kingdom. 

MC: You shouldn't. It's such an honor. 

The king smiled. Beside him, the kind looking queen sat down close to him. 

(The queen kind of looks like Sirius... If I look at her closely, she has a truly gentle face that was like Sirius' today. Despite that he talks so rudely.) 

When I thought of that, I quickly cleared out my thoughts. 

(Why am I thinking about Sirius like that...) 

I remembered how he got so close to my face earlier.

King: Princess MC. You have my gratitude from the bottom of my heart for awakening my son, Sirius. Also, there's something serious that I want to discuss about with the brave princess... 

MC: With me? 

King: Yes, it's not a big deal, but... Won't you become Sirius' friend?

MC: Eh...? 

King: He's always spending time with his cousin, Procyon, to the point that it has become worrying. 

(Procyon... The person that Sirius was looking for in the courtyard earlier.)

King: What do you think, Princess? 

MC: Um... 

Sirius: Hold it!

Before I could answer, Sirius shouted that as he jumped in out of nowhere. 

Sirius: Telling her to become my friend so suddenly, that'll only trouble her. 

When Sirius said that, he smiled proudly...

Sirius: Father. Friends aren't really a big deal to me, if it's about that, I can find some on my own!

King: Haa... Being unreasonable again. If you can't right now, then I'll have to take matters into my own hands. 

Sirius: But, isn't it obvious that I need to take the initiative into taking care of my adorable cousin? 

King: If you want someone to take care of him, then have some other people do it instead. You're with Procyon day and night... You're never away from him no matter what, how shameful. 

Sirius: Wha... Don't look down on me! I'm just worried about him!!

(O-Oh, no. They're getting into a fight... Should I say something to stop them?)

MC: U-Um, Sirius! Procyon-kun is your cousin, right? In that case, that's a little different from a friend. You can stay with me.

Sirius: Together, with you...? 

MC: Y-Yes. Are you okay with something like that?

- Let's become friends (☼)

MC: U-Um, Sirius! I want to be friends with you. Can't we be friends? 

Sirius: You... 

When Sirius stopped arguing, he looked at me with a surprised face.

After some time has passed, Sirius was thinking with a sour look and then, he took a glance at me and spoke softly. 

Sirius: Well, since you're saying that you want to be friends with me, then I don't really mind. 

MC: Sirius...

King: ...I see. That's good. Well then, I'll leave it to you. MC-sama. 

MC: Yes. 

Thus, that was the start of our somewhat odd friendly relationship...

Chapter 3 - The Start of Being Friends

When my friendly relationship with Sirius has begun... 

While drinking the nearly cold tea in a teacup, Sirius was looking up at the sky in a daze. 

MC: U-Um, Sirius. I brought some baked cookies that you like. 

Sirius: Sure. 

MC: Also, I heard that you like this brand of tea too. 

Sirius: Yeah, I like it. But, it's gotten cold. 

MC: ...It's cold because you aren't really drinking it. 

Sirius: Huh? Did you say something? 

MC: N-Nothing. 

Sirius deeply sighed. 

(I feel like sighing too...) 

When I tried my hardest to think of a way to become friends with Sirius, I tried holding a tea party to see if it'll make us talk a lot. Although, Sirius was like that from the beginning till the end... 

Sirius: I wonder what Procyon is doing right now. 

As Sirius rested his chin in his free hand, he murmured that. 

(Procyon-kun again...) 

For some reason, I felt my sadness rising. 

MC: ...Somehow, it sounds like you're in love with Procyon-kun.

T/N: ROFL! XD

Sirius: Wha...! 

Sirius was about to spit out his tea at that moment. 

Sirius: W-What are you saying! Procyon is a boy! He's like a little brother to me. 

MC: But...

(He's always talking about Procyon-kun.) 

MC: Despite that you're with me. 

When I said that without thinking, I immediately placed my hand on my mouth. 

Sirius: W-Well, of course, but... S-Sorry... 

As he looked like a puppy with the way he sulked downheartedly, I found it adorable. 

(He's really like a child...) 

Sirius: Maybe we should stop being friends. 

MC: Eh...? 

Sirius suddenly made a sad look as he said that.

MC: That's not it. You're so kind and caring, so I understand why you would worry about Procyon-kun. 

Sirius: I-I'm not that kind...

It was really cute how Sirius became embarrassed as he was slightly blushing.

- Look at my properly (☽)

MC: I understand that you're worried about Procyon-kun. But, I, well... I'd be happy if you could look at me properly...

When Sirius became bewildered, his gaze met with mine. While we were looking at each other, my heart became slightly fast for some reason.

Sirius suddenly looked away. Although, as he was making a sullen look, it didn't seem like he was rejecting me. 

MC: But, you told me that you didn't hate me. 

Sirius: Is that why you wanted to become friends? 

MC :Yes...

Sirius: Aaaah. I wonder if Procyon is okay by himself. 

MC: Ah, you're talking about Procyon-kun again. 

Sirius: Uu... I-I can't help it! It's because I'm worried about him!

When Sirius made an embarrassed look, I broke into a smile. 

MC: Yes. I think it's okay to worry about him. But... I can see why your father is worried too. Since you're the future king. 

Sirius: I know that. But, my old man is so lively, so there's no need to think that far ahead. Besides, I wonder if not thinking about it would be the right solution. Isn't it hard for you to imagine me becoming king? 

MC: Hmm...

MC: I'm sure that you'll become a wonderful king. Besides, you're manly and reliable. 

Sirius: W-What's with that? That's embarrassing. 

As I looked at the side of his embarrassed face, I thought of what I just said and became embarrassed as well.

MC: I can picture it. I think you'll be able to do it properly, probably. 

Sirius: Probably, you say, what's with that? You're such a half-minded woman. 

MC: B-But... 

Sirius: Well, that's fine. 

Sirius chuckled as he smiled.

Sirius immediately stuffed the cookies into his mouth and got up from the chair.

After Sirius said that hesitantly, he left soon after.

As I thought about our next occasion, my own heart was pounding... 

Chapter 4 - A Gentle Hound

One day, while taking a break from thinking of my next play date with Sirius, I went to town. 

(Such nice weather...)

Underneath the vast blue sky, the town was overflowing with liveliness. 

Merchant A: Welcome, Miss! You should have some of our apples.

Merchant B: Miss! We have some first class smoked meat!

With the merchants talking in the market, I had fun looking around. 

(It'd be nice if there were some kind of hint that'll make me have fun with Sirius though...) 

The moment I thought of that while looking around town for research. 

Man A: Hey, kid. You know what'll happen if you don't do what we say. 

Boy: I-I...

When I heard a threatening voice from the back alley, I checked it out while hiding and...

Man B: Hand over all your valuables. So, stop shaking and just do it. 

Man C: Kuku, he probably wants to get beat up again. 

Boy: Eek...!

(The boy is going to get attacked! What do I do...)

- Save him immediately (☼)

(I don't have time to think... I need to save him now!) 

MC: Stop!!

Man A: Huh? What was that? 

When I lost control of myself and jumped into the back alley, I became surrounded by everyone's gazes all at once. Before I knew it, my feet stopped. 

Man B: This is a pretty cute lady who's at a good age, to think that she would show up by herself... 

MC: D-Don't come any closer... 

At that moment...

??: What are you doing in a place like this?

(Sirius!?) 

- If only Sirius were here... (☽)

(I-I can't. I'm scared. If only Sirius was here at a time like this...! But, this isn't the time to be saying that...) 

When I tightly clenched my hands, I took a step forward. At that moment... Just as I was about to stand in front of those men, a hand was placed on my shoulder from behind to stop me.

??: Unforgivable. 

MC: Sirius!

Sirius winked at me with a smile. As I felt a shiver from how strongly captivating he looked, there was a scary look in his eyes. 

(Sirius...?) 

I felt my heart throbbing greatly. 

Sirius: Bad guys are unforgivable. They're what I hate the most, you guys should know that. 

Man C: W-What's with this guy? 

Man A: H-Hey, this guy, it can't be.

Boy: Sirius-sama!

The moment the boy shouted that, the men's complexions instantly turned pale. 

Man B: P-Prince Sirius!? As if we can deal with this hound!

One of the men ran away at full speed. 

Sirius: You won't escape! What I hate most are those that pick on the weak!

Man A: Eeeeeek!!

Man C: H-Help!!

Just as Sirius sprung on them, the men ended up running away with desperate looks. 

MC: What was that...

Sirius: Tsk, they got away. 

Boy: Sirius-sama! Thank you so much!

The boy jumped towards Sirius and hugged him. 

Sirius: Did they do anything to you? That would've been a disaster. 

Boy: I was saved thanks to Sirius-sama!

Sirius: It's thanks to me and her. 

MC: Eh...? 

I was surprised when he pointed at me. 

Sirius: She's the one who saved me first. Come on, thank her properly. 

Boy: Okay! Miss, thank you very much!

MC: N-No. I didn't do anything...

Sirius gave me a satisfied look as he smiled. 

(This is the first time that I've seen him make that kind of face...) 

Sirius' smile was gentle and really warm. It was a smile that felt like it could gradually warm up my heart. 

Sirius: Okay, be careful not to get involved with bad guys like that next time. 

Boy: Okay. Bye. 

The boy left as he waved his hand greatly. After Sirius watched him off, he turned towards me. 

Sirius: You're too heroic. 

MC: Eh? 

Sirius: Do I have to explain it myself? It would've been impossible for a woman to do that. 

MC: I just got caught up in the spur of the moment... 

Sirius: Impossible. One woman against three men is surely impossible. 

MC: But... 

Sirius: Don't push yourself like that. If you don't, what'll you do if it's one against ten thousand.

MC: Sirius...

Sirius: Father's sick of it, also. Your scent... I've taken a liking to it...

(...!) 

With a sniff, the tip of Sirius' nose approached my nape again. Aside from the first time he did it, my heart was pounding louder. 

Sirius: If something had happened, that would've been troubling... 

Somehow, my chest tightened from hearing his heartrending voice. Despite the distance of a few inches that he was at, I couldn't bring myself to touch him... 

Sirius: MC... 

But, minus the distance, there was Sirius. Just as I was about to say his name, he gently touched my cheek at the same time. 

Sirius: I'll protect you. You're a weak woman after all. 

He looked at me with a serious and warm face. With a smile, Sirius removed his hand from my cheek. 

(Does he really... want to get closer to me...?) 

I became welled up with tantalizing feelings. Although, his smile was the best one that I've seen so far... 

(This is enough now... Right...?)
