Chapter 5 - Getting Along by Holding Hands
I noticed that the distance between me and Sirius has gotten closer, especially since that incident in the back alley. Although...
Sirius: Hey, what do you want to play today?
With a jump, Sirius cuddled up to me as he smiled innocently.
(Compared to that sour look that he made from the start, I'm happy, but...)
Now that Sirius has opened up to me, he's become more innocent like a boy.
King: You seem to be getting along.
Sirius: Well, I can't say that it was thanks to you this time, Father.
King: Looks like you only have your way of twisting words around.
Even though the king looked troubled, he was smiling amusedly.
Sirius: Hey, MC. Let's go to town together today. Being inside the castle all the time is boring.
MC: But...
I was called by the king because he wanted to talk to me.
(Also, I'd feel rude if I go out...)
When I thought of that, the king smiled as he nodded deeply.
King: I don't mind. We've already finished talking after all.
MC: Eh?
King: I was only curious about how you guys were doing. I'm glad that you guys are getting along with each other.
Sirius: Okay! Let's go, MC.
MC: Ah...
When Sirius held my hand, he gripped it tightly. As my cheeks became burning hot from his innocent behavior... I thought about the incident that happened in the town that we were heading to...
Last Chapter - Are We Friends?
By the time we arrived at town, evening was approaching. Also, today was more crowded than the time I came to town before.
MC: The atmosphere feels somewhat different.
Sirius: That's because the harvest festival is today. That's why everyone is all pumped up.
Now that he mentions it, at the crowded stalls, there were piles of vegetables and curios of vegetables with painted faces on them. Including...
MC: Ah! A floral carriage!
While passing by, a horse carriage that was decorated with flowers stood out in the crowd as it was slowly moving. In the front and back, there were people playing flutes, drums and fifes as they were marching in rows.
Sirius: That's right, there's a parade too. Do you like that sort of thing?
MC: It's my first time seeing one, but it's really pretty...
Sirius: Well, I guess so. I like that sort of thing too.
MC: By that sort of thing...
Sirius: When I was little, I would beg my parents to take me to town on the day of the harvest festival to see that horse carriage. Not just the horse carriage. I wanted to feel what everyone was feeling altogether.
When I saw Sirius' eyes sparkling, my heart skipped a beat.
Sirius: Ah, hey. Let's get an even closer look.
MC: Ah...
By instinct, Sirius held my hand tightly and ran. As I was feeling both embarrassed and happy, I squeezed his hand back.
Sirius: It looks more beautiful than usual when I'm with you.
MC: Eh...?
Sirius: That sort of thing is what makes it really strange, but I kind of get it and it makes me happy.
After Sirius said that, he bursts into a broad smile.
(Sirius always speaks so honestly without an ounce of shame like this... It makes me jealous...)
My chest tightened in pain.
Sirius: Ah, I know. Let's go back after buying some souvenirs.
MC: Okay.
Then, after we enjoyed the harvest festival to our hearts' content, we returned to the castle.
Sirius: Hey, you took too long, MC.
MC: ...!
After we returned from town at night, Sirius wanted to play the card game that we bought as a souvenir, so I told him that I wanted to get ready first. Sirius became impatient and arrived at my room as he was pouting sulkily.
Sirius: You were taking so long that I thought I was going to fall asleep.
MC: I-I'm sorry. But, you surprised me when you entered my room so suddenly.
Sirius: That's not my problem. We're friends after all.
MC: True... But.
(Even though he says that we're friends, it doesn't change the fact that we're a man and woman... Sirius truly thinks of us as just purely friends. But... That kind of makes me a little sad...)
Sirius: Hm? What's wrong? You're making a gloomy face. Did you really hate it when I came here that much?
MC: ...No. Wait for a bit, I'll be done soon.
Just as I said that and turned my back towards Sirius at that moment...
MC: !?
Sirius: MC...
Suddenly, without any warning, Sirius hugged me tightly from behind. I was so surprised that I froze the next moment.
Sirius: You don't really hate me, right?
MC: O-Of course... Sirius, uh, do you...
When I tried to ask, I was hesitant to speak as I couldn't bring up the words well...
Sirius: I love you.
MC: Eh...?
Sirius: I love you. This scent too...
The tip of Sirius' nose lightly touched the back of my neck. My body twitched as a response.
(W-What do I do... My heart is going so fast...)
Sirius: Yeah, right now, I love you the most. This sort of thing is kind of strange, even though we're friends.
MC: ...Yes, me too. I don't want to be just friends.
Sirius: Then, what do you want to be?
(I-It's not like I can say it...!)
My face became hotter. Then, when Sirius smiled, he blew his warm breath against the back of my neck.
Sirius: From now on, won't you think about it with me, MC?
MC: ...Yes, of course.
Then, as we warmed each other up... Knowing that we're going to be together forever from now on, we smiled at each other...
