Chapter 5 - Determination in the Dusk

Sky pulled my hand as he ran through a whole bunch of people in the bustling street. 

Sky: MC, are you tired? Want to rest? 

MC: I'm okay! I'm fine. 

Sky: Sorry... If I had kept a closer eye on you, I wouldn't have lost you like that. 

MC: No. Back then, I was the one who was careless... 

Also, I felt guilty for having Sky protect me. 

MC: ...

Sky: Hey, don't make that kind of face. 

As it felt like Sky knew what I was thinking, he strongly squeezed my hand. 

Sky: ...Well, I shouldn't have taken you all over the place like that. ...I should've prepared myself. 

MC: Eh...? 

After murmuring that, Sky looked straight at me. 

Sky: We'll be running for just a bit longer. You okay with that? 

When he said that gently, it gave me courage and got rid of the fatigue in my legs. 

MC: Sure...!

From afar, I heard a car engine revving up. As Sky's large hand was holding my right hand, it felt really warm... 

Last Chapter - A Kind Town

When it became completely dark around us, the neon lights began to glow in the streets. 

Sky and I continued going through the crowds of people. 

(I'm getting a little tired, but...) 

Sky: You tired? Sorry... For making you run. 

MC: N-No! I'm the one who should be sorry. You were protecting me. 

Sky: Protecting, huh... 

Sky laughed somewhat self-mockingly. 

Sky: Actually... I... About the gun... I don't use it on people. Didn't I tell you?

Sky: Well, something like that. I'm just an unfortunate guy. Seriously... It's quite laughable.

Sky: I'm not good with blood. 

Sky looked at the handgun with disgust. 

Sky: This tool that's used for killing, it'd be best not to use it. 

MC: Sky... You're not unfortunate. 

That's what I've been thinking this whole time since we've met. He protected me and took me into consideration... 

MC: Sky, you're the kindest person out of anyone in the world... 

Sky: Y-You... Don't say something so embarrassing!

MC: It's probably because I can't help it. 

Sky: ...Don't say that. 

After a while, Sky looked at me with a smile and thought about something, but suddenly, he got up with the handgun and made me hide. 

Sky: Listen. Stay here... Those guys are coming. 

MC: What about you!? 

Sky: I'm getting tired of running. Don't underestimate me, you're not the one that they're after today. 

MC: That's...!

Sky: Like I said, don't underestimate me, I'll just be going out for a bit. 

(W-Will he be okay...?) 

Sky smiled and pulled my hand towards his chest. 

Sky: Don't make that kind of face... I'll be back. It's going to get a little scary though. 

He loaded up the handgun with bullets. 

MC: But, earlier... 

(He said that he didn't want to hurt anyone.) 

Sky: It's only going to get a little scary. 

MC: Sky...

Sky: It's okay. Trust me. 

MC: ...Okay. 

As he looked at me seriously, I couldn't come up with a response. He gave me a smile and lets go of me. 

Sky: Hey! I can hear you! If you want to fight, come out!

When Sky suddenly shouted that, he came out from the hiding spot.

Man with Skull Earrings: Heh~! After running all day, you finally came out. 

The man grinned as he got out of the car. 

Man with Skull Earrings: You're a coward that can't use a gun and is only good at running away♪

...Then, the next moment... Two gunshots echoed within the area. 

Man with Skull Earrings: ... 

MC: ...!? 

When I nervously looked out, the man touched his right ear with wide eyes. 

Man with Skull Earrings: You... 

The man removed his hand from the skull earring that had both of it's eyes becoming oddly shaped on his right ear. 

Sky: It's true that I'm a coward, but... I'm good at hitting my target. Though, this is the first time I shot at someone. Scum who makes a move on MC, I'll make them disappear. 

Sky said that coldly. 

Man with Skull Earrings: Tsk... 

The man ran off when he got into his car. Then, the sound of the engine became distant soon after... Sky sat down in place. I got out of the hiding spot and ran up to him. 

MC: Sky! Thank goodness...! You're okay. 

Sky: Didn't I tell you? It was only going to get scary. 

When he said that, he softly placed his head against my shoulder. 

MC: Sky!? Are you okay!? Are you hurt somewhere...? 

Sky: Sorry... Just lend me your shoulder for a bit. I really can't shoot at people... I'm such a disappointment. 

As he smiled weakly, I softly placed my hand on his cheek. 

Sky: It'd be nice if that guy doesn't come back~ Well, no matter how many times it'll take, I'll take him on... 

At that moment, Sky closed his eyes for a while. As he was on my shoulder, I felt really happy for some reason...

That night... After we arrived at home, I was looking at Sky's face as he was sleeping on the sofa. Just as I softly brushed up his hair from his forehead, he woke up. 

Sky: ...What are you doing? 

MC: Sorry. Did I wake you? 

Sky: ...It's fine. Somehow, this feels like... 

(Does he mean...) 

MC: ...Like we're a pair of lovers? 

When I ended up saying that, his cheeks turned red. 

Sky: Stu-...! What are you saying! I just... 

As he quickly denied that, even his ears turned red. Seeing him like that made me break into a smile. 

MC: Your face is red. Sky, you really are a shy person. 

When I giggled with a smile, Sky glared at me in discomfort. 

Sky: ...Shut up. 

Then, Sky suddenly pulled my hand. 

MC: ...!

As Sky was lying on the sofa, half of my body landed on top of him. With our faces close to each other, my heart skipped a beat. 

Sky: Your face is red too. 

MC: ...Geez. 

Just as I was about to back away, he placed his hand on my back. 

Sky: ...That's right. We're like a pair of lovers. 

MC: Eh... 

My heartbeat became faster. 

Sky: In that case, let's do that. 

I couldn't go against him as I felt his fast heartbeat underneath me. 

When I slowly looked past his arm... As the small snow globe was on top of the desk, it felt like he was running around in the town in it...
