Chapter 6 - Harvesting Day

Zant: It's fine... You don't have to worry about me.

The next day... His smile that showed the sadness in his heart made me forget about the temperature in the morning. I went to the vegetable garden to search for Zant-san. 

(What's going on?) 

In the vegetable garden, the remnants of the castle have gathered there. 

Maid: Ah, MC-sama. Have you come to observe the harvest? 

MC: Harvest...? 

From what the maid told me, today is when everyone in the castle come together to harvest the vegetables that have grown. 

Maid: Here, come look. The grown vegetables that Zant-sama was looking after... Don't they all look delicious? 

MC: They really do. 

When I sat down, I placed my hand on the roots of the fresh and luxurious plants. With just the earth power that the vegetables have received, they have grown to become vibrant and healthy... 

Chapter 7 - Kindness and Loneliness

As all the remnants of the castle were helping out with the harvest, I lent a hand as well. I tried touching the vegetables that Zant-san grew in the garden for the first time. 

(Somehow, these vegetables and the earth feel really warm.)

Due to the faint temperature, I remembered when Zant-san petted my head with his hand.

Zant: Sorry... I've made you make an even more troubling face.

-Flashback-

(That hand... It was really warm. The vegetables and the earth too, did they grow because of the warmth from Zant-san's hands?)

The moment I touched the earth of the garden in my hand, I felt myself becoming warm. As I was helping out with the harvest for a while, I saw Zant-san at the end of the garden. 

MC: Zant-san!

Zant: ...You. 

When he looked up and noticed me, he slowly approached me. 

Zant: Did you come to help too? 

MC: No, I just found out by chance. But, I did help and it somehow made me happy. 

Zant: ...? 

MC: Ah, uh... The vegetables have grown to be very vibrant. It's amazing, how did you grow these vegetables to be so healthy like this? 

Zant: ...I didn't do anything special. I just tend to them every day and put my feelings into making them grow to be delicious. 

When he calmly said that, he touched the ground with his large hand. As the wind softly blew... 

Zant: ...I can hear the voice of the earth by touching it like this. ...It seems like everyone is pleased. 

MC: You're so kind, Zant-san. 

Zant: ...

His clear blue eyes gave me a puzzled look. Even though he didn't look like he understands, he smiled a little... 

Zant: I make sure that they are healthy. 

MC: ...!

Zant: ...What? 

MC: ...Nothing. 

I shook my head and smiled. Although, when Zant-san kindly gazed at the vegetables and the earth, I felt myself being filled with pain for some reason.

As Zant-san's smile looked sad somehow, I felt pain in my heart... 

Last Chapter - Feelings Opening Up

The kind smile that Zant-san was showing in the vegetable garden looked somewhat sad... The inside of my heart tightened.

When the two of us continued harvesting for a while, it was almost noon and the maids approached us with a basket of vegetables. 

Maid: We're going to have lunch soon, but... What are you going to do, Zant-sama, MC-sama? 

Zant: I'm going to stay in the garden for a bit. Everyone can go rest if they want. 

MC: I'm still okay too. 

Maid: Understood. We'll see you later then. 

After the maid lowered her head, she and along with the others returned to the castle. Then, it was just the two of us in the garden. As the sun was shining brightly, the sunlight made the vegetable leaves more vibrant. 

Zant: You sure? You can go along with them. 

MC: Yes, I want to look after the earth and the vegetables a bit more like this. I can feel your kindness from the vegetables here... 

Zant: ...How unusual. Somehow, being with you... is like being with the flowers and vegetables. 

When Zant-san turned his back towards me, he began to caress the carrots and other root vegetables that were harvested.

When I looked at him a little, his ears were turning red...

Then, as the sunlight was getting stronger, we moved to the shade of a tree near the garden. When we quietly sat down and got closer to each other, we looked at the verdant and full-grown garden as it was covered in the sunlight. 

Zant: ...MC... -san.

After he said my name for the first time, I felt embarrassed and happy. 

MC: What is it? 

When I raised my head, his clear blue eyes were trembling. 

(Zant-san...?) 

Zant: When I'm with you, the atmosphere doesn't feel heavy. Look how I feel calm during the times I'm playing with the earth. Why do you... 

Just as he trailed off at the end of his sentence, he stopped his words there. 

Zant: ...

MC: ...? 

Zant: ...Sorry, I ended up saying what's been jumbled in my head... Forget everyone just now. 

He quickly moved his gaze towards the ground.

MC: I... Today, I had fun helping out with the harvest with everyone in the castle and you. Still... I felt sad at the same time. 

Zant: ... 

When he raised his head, he spoke once more. 

Zant: What made you sad? Did... Did I do something that made you feel that way again? 

MC: Yes... It's because I felt your sadness. Is there some way... for you to not make that sort of face? 

As it felt like I was searching for Zant-san's heart, I continued speaking to him. 

MC: Is there something I can do... 

Zant: ...

Then, Zant-san's ears perked up firmly... At that moment... 

MC: Ah... 

Before I knew it, Zant-san's eyes were getting closer. When he lowered his scarf that usually covers his mouth, he revealed his face to me. 

Zant: In that case... 

MC: Zant... -san...? 

Suddenly, when he touched my hand, it felt really warm for some reason. As his hand was over mine, it became dirty from the earth. Strangely, I felt a warm gentleness from his fingers. 

Zant: Will you stay with me? 

MC: Eh? 

Just as his lips were at a touching distance with mine, they trembled. 

Zant: ...

Within the sparkling bright sunlight that was shining through the trees, his lips got closer as he gripped my hand. 

MC: ...

Zant: ...Won't you pamper me? 

MC: !!

Although, I felt a little of Zant-san's confusion as he hid his embarrassment by speaking roughly. 

MC: Um... 

Zant: ...You said that you wanted to do something. 

My heart was overflowing with happiness from Zant-san blushing in embarrassment. The solid door that closed off his heart has opened up to me for real. 

MC: ...Yes. 

Along with my words ending there, we lightly kissed...
