Chapter 1 - The Mechanical Eggs
Kingdom of Rainbows, Oz, Simba territory, April...
Underneath the clear sky, a soft breeze was blowing at a hill. In Oz, the Kingdom of Rainbows, Prince Oswald, who's famous for being "the Wizard of Oz", assigned a few princes to rule over each territory.
(I wonder if Leonie is doing well.)
When I received an invitation to the festival that was about giving out thoughts for the future, which was known as "the Gratitude Festival", I went to visit one of the princes in the kingdom, Leonie.
(The castle should be right past this hill...)
At that moment, up ahead on the road, I saw a familiar face pulling a wagon near the hill.
MC: Leonie!
Leonie: Waah!!
When I called out to him, Leonie became surprised that he almost fell from the wagon.
Leonie: Ah, it's you... Don't surprise me like that!
(A scaredy cat as usual...)
MC: I-I'm sorry... But, what's this? You're carrying so many eggs.
From what I can see, he was holding a basket that had a bunch of eggs in it.
Leonie: Ah, they're all the same eggs in the wagon. Oswald wanted to use them as decorations for the Gratitude Festival no matter what. Look, there's so many of them. I'm bring them all over to get them colored.
After saying that, Leonie handed me an egg.
MC: Sounds like fun. But, it feels heavier than a normal egg...
Leonie: Well... It's mechanical, so the mechanism inside it makes it different from a normal egg. But, coloring them, I don't really have a sense of art though...
Leonie looked at the eggs that were tightly packed in the wagon.
MC: If you'd like, I can help. It seems like a lot of work since there are so many of them.

Woman with Basket: If it isn't Leonie-sama! I made a promise with my daughter, but I don't know which way to go...
The woman placed down the basket that she was holding onto the road and started talking to Leonie. When Leonie did the same and placed his basket down on the road, he kindly listened to her.
Leonie: Wouldn't that be the church? Let's see, if you look at this map...
It seems like the woman came here from a farm to deliver some eggs for her daughter.
(Leonie is truly a kind person that would never turn his back on someone who's in trouble...)
The moment I got a pleasant feeling from watching Leonie being so considerate.
MC: !?
I saw a small figure getting closer on the road from the corner of my eye.
MC: Leonie, look out! The eggs...
Leonie: Eh!? U-Uwaaaah!!
MC: ...!
When he saw a weasel going after the eggs in the basket, he screamed.
(S-Such a loud voice...!)
That loud voice surprised the weasel and made it run away from the basket and back to where it came from.
Leonie: U-Uwah... That was surprising! It was just a weasel...
MC: Are the eggs okay!?
As I was panicking, I reached out to pick up the eggs that were rolling around on the road, but....
Woman with Basket: Oh, dear! How troubling. Leonie-sama and my daughter's eggs got mixed up...
Leonie: Geh... You're right. What do we do!? How troubling. Those eggs were specially made by Oswald...
When the two baskets have fallen over, all the eggs got mixed up.
Woman with Basket: My, Oswald-sama did... That's troubling! My apologies, Leonie-sama.

Chapter 3 - For Everyone's Smiles
When we arrived at the town plaza... We immediately set up the paint and beads that are going to be used to decorate the eggs beautifully.
Leonie: Now then... Even though it's troubling that we have a lot, but we need to work hard for everyone!
MC: Yes. We should keep at it until the sun goes down.
While sitting next to each other, we started painting the eggs. Then, some curious children gathered around to watch.

Leonie: Yeah! Whatever Oswald thinks always cheers up everyone in this kingdom! Oswald is really amazing for each of the awesome ideas that he comes up with!! Despite that Oswald called this festival, the Gratitude Festival...
While looking up at the mountain of finished eggs, Leonie's eyes shined. Although, those blue-green eyes made a bit of a gloomy look.
Leonie: Yet, I got spooked by a weasel today... But, since I'm helping Oswald like this, I want to make everyone smile...
MC: Leonie...
After rubbing his eyes, Leonie started painting the shells of the eggs again. There was a strong firm determination within those eyes.
(Despite that Leonie is so kind and is loved by everyone in town.)

Deeply moved by Leonie's feelings, I felt my chest getting warmer... Although, just as he started moving again, he stopped moving his brush and looked down.
Leonie: ...Somehow, I feel like I've said something that's out of character just now.
When I looked at him, I noticed that his face was red despite that we were underneath the dark night sky.
MC: That's not true.
Leonie: Y-You think so? But... I'm feeling a little embarrassed... Hm?
Just as he suddenly raised his head, Leonie moved his gaze around.
Leonie: Did you hear something just now?
MC: Eh?
(Did he hear something?)
When he said that, I focused on my hearing, but I didn't hear anything.
MC: I didn't hear anything...
Leonie: Really? But, I thought I heard some kind of tapping sound...
Just as Leonie tilted his head to the side, he opened his eyes again as if he sensed something.
Leonie: There it is again!
MC: Eh, really?
Once again, after he said that, I closed my eyes and focused on the sounds around me. Then, I heard some kind of soft tapping sound.

Leonie: !? I hear it coming from my hand...?
MC: Eh!?
After I said that, we looked at the egg that was in the middle of being painting in Leonie's hand. Just as there was a crack on the shell...

Leonie: Uwaaaaaahhh!?
When a baby chick suddenly showed itself from the egg in his hand, Leonie screamed. Soon after, I...

After hearing me, Leonie held the egg that was about to slip out of his hand.
- Don't move! (☼)
MC: Leonie, stop! You're going to drop the egg, don't move!
Leonie: Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa!
Holding the egg carefully in a panic, Leonie sighed in relief.

Leonie and the newborn chick looked at each other.
Chick: Peep! Peep, peep, peep, peep!
Leonie: Uwah! What's with him, he became really happy after looking at me!? Uh, what should I do... No, more importantly, how could he have come out of a mechanical egg!? Is this chick mechanical?
While completely confused, Leonie puts down the baby chick that was in the egg on the ground and as it chirped softly, it walked towards Leonie shakily.

He looked around in a panic, but there was only a ragged cloth that had gotten dirty from being used to color the eggs.
Leonie: Guess it can't be helped... Want to come with me?
Chick: Peep, peep...
Leonie picked up the baby chick and softly held it to his chest. Then, after a while, the baby chick became reassured and started to fall asleep.
MC: ...Is he okay?
Leonie: Y-Yeah... He seemed to have calm down. But, what should we do...?
While holding the baby chick carefully near his chest, Leonie looked at me worriedly.
(This is... Guess this means that we'll have to do that...)
MC: Since he probably thinks that you're his mother...
Leonie: You mean that I have to raise him? This guy?
We looked at each other again.
Leonie: Eeeeeehhhhh!?
Between our gazes, the baby chick was breathing peacefully in it's sleep.
Chapter 5 - Leonie's Parental Love
The next morning, above the plaza that we were meeting up at was the vast blue sky.

While holding a bag that I received from the kitchen in the castle that I was staying at, I searched for him and...
Leonie: You came here earlier than I thought!
MC: Ah, Leonie! Good morning.
As he was running over here, the baby chick from yesterday was chirping in his hand.
MC: He seems to have taken quite a liking to you, Leonie.

MC: Do you think he'll eat it?
Leonie: ...Will he?
As we were watching... The baby chick happily started pecking the scattered grains.
Since then, for the next few days... The days went by as we continued coloring eggs and taking care of the baby chick. Then, on the day before the Gratitude Festival...
Leonie: We've finished!
By the time it became noon, Leonie stretched his arms out towards the sky when we finally finished coloring the large number of eggs.
MC: Good job, Leonie.
Chick: Peep! Peep, peep, peep!
Looking at Leonie, the baby chick happily jumped towards his foot.
MC: You sure get along. He's able to walk properly so quickly.
Leonie: Obviously! I'm his guardian after all!

Ignoring Leonie as he had his chest out proudly, the baby chick walked towards the road as a horse carriage was just about to pass by.

Running over in a panic, Leonie picked up the baby chick and held it to his chest.
Leonie: Haa... Just when I took my eyes off him for a second...
When he looked at the baby chick near his chest, he sighed.
Leonie: I... I wonder if I can raise him to become a proper adult...
