Chapter 1 - High Expectations

In the flying gambling hall, "Amuse Palace"... As the game area was flourished with gorgeously dressed up people, I looked down at the invitation that I received. 

(It says that a new facility has opened, but...) 

??: MC?

Just as a familiar sharp voice called out to me, I looked up and... 

Kanoe: I thought it was you. I can tell right away. 

MC: Kanoe-san!

The unexpected reunion made me walk towards him happily. 

Kanoe: So, you came here as well. Are you alone? 

MC: Yes. 

(Kanoe-san in a suit... It feels kind of refreshing.) 

Seeing how he was dressed more differently than usual, I looked at him for a while. 

Kanoe: For a second, I thought it'd be fun if you were here with me. I never would've thought that I would actually see you... I'm glad. 

MC: ...!

His straightforward words made my cheeks heat up slowly. 

MC: Me too... I wanted to see you too. 

When I told him that honestly while holding back my embarrassment, Kanoe-san narrowed his eyes as he smiled. 

Kanoe: Then, let's go around together. 

MC: Okay. 

When he turned around and started walking, I followed him. Then, Kanoe-san held out his arm for me to take. 

MC: !

Kanoe: Let's go. 

I firmly entwined my arm with his robust arm that was held out to me. With Kanoe-san escorting me, my expectations were rising from the moment we were going to spend time together from here on... 

Chapter 2 - In the Sunlight

As the enthusiastic voices of people that were enjoying games and joyful cheers reached my ears... Feeling the heat in the game area, Kanoe-san and I were walking closely to each other. 

MC: Where should we go? 

Kanoe: It's not every day that we get to be here. Shall we check out the pool that was finished recently? 

MC: That's fine. 

As if he'd memorized the floor information, he pulled my arm without getting lost. 

MC: Could it be that you've been here before, Kanoe-san? 

Kanoe: Yeah. I could say the same to you though. 

MC: I helped out during the time the gambling hall was opening up... I received another invitation as thanks for that. 

Kanoe: I see. 

As Kanoe-san looked at the people that were enjoying themselves in the game area, he made a refreshing smile. 

Kanoe: I thought I wouldn't do so well in these kinds of places at first, but it's pretty fun. Also, you're here today. 

MC: !

Surprised by those unexpected words, I looked at Kanoe-san and... His gentle expression made me break into a smile. 

Kanoe: I've never really been to a place like this before. That's why I'm happy.

After parting from Kanoe-san to change, I looked around the area to search for him. Then...

Underneath the bright sunlight, Kanoe-san was in a swimsuit and walked towards me while waving his hand. I couldn't take my eyes off his muscles on the upper half of his body that he gained from training in dance performances.

Embarrassed by Kanoe-san's words, I quickly looked away.

When I nodded honestly, I slowly looked up and... I saw that Kanoe-san's cheeks were somewhat red. 

Kanoe: MC, we're going to be together for a long time afterwards, so... It's troubling that I've made you feel embarrassed from just being in a swimsuit.

We saw a pool lifeguard robot running over here.

Kanoe: She was swimming oddly. I'll leave her to you. I'll come along to the first-aid station.

Kanoe: I'll be back soon. Sorry, but wait for a bit. 

Understanding the serious situation from his words, I couldn't do anything, but nod. I watched Kanoe-san off from behind as he quickly took the woman away...

While waiting for his return, the sunlight became stronger... Adjusting the towel that Kanoe-san lent me on my shoulders, I gripped it tightly to bear the loneliness.

Feeling uneasy, I sat down in a chair on the poolside and... 

Man: Hey, are you alone? 

Suddenly, an unfamiliar man spoke to me. 

MC: No, I came here with someone-

The man sat next to me and wrapped his arm around my shoulder before I could finish speaking. 

MC: ...!

Man: Since you're here to have fun, I'll hang out with you. 

When I moved around to get away from his overly familiar hand, the towel fell off. As the man smiled maliciously, I tried to get away from him. At that moment... 

Kanoe: Get your hand off her. 

MC: ! Kanoe-san...!

Kanoe-san looked down at the man sharply and removed his arm from my shoulder. 

Man: W-What? 

Kanoe: She's with me. 

Overpowered by Kanoe-san's intensity, the man left without saying anything. 

(Is Kanoe-san mad...?) 

MC: Um... 

Kanoe: Sorry. You got put in a scary situation because I left you alone... 

MC: It's okay. Welcome back. 

When I showed a smile to calm him down, he lightly placed his hand on my head and petted me gently.

Kanoe: Let's go. I can finally swim with you. 

As Kanoe-san pulled my hand, we stepped into the wave pool.

With nothing obstructing my vision, the sky pool heated up more with the sunlight on it... After enjoying the pool for some time, we walked over to the cocktail garden for a break. 

Kanoe: Two Sapphire Ades please. 

Bartender Robot: Understood. Please wait for a bit. 

After ordering the nonalcoholic cocktails, we sat down at an empty table and took a breather. Since it became hot, we saw that the bar near the pool was crowded with people ordering drinks. 

Kanoe: I've heard about it from Oswald, but the cocktail garden here has a special feature. I heard that they hold cocktail contests. 

MC: A contest that judges original cocktails. It kind of sounds like fun. 

Kanoe: I've gotten stronger against alcohol, so I thought that we could participate in the contest together, but...

Calling out to us, the cocktails that we ordered were placed on the table at the same time.

Man: Sorry about earlier. As an apology this'll be on me. 

As the man smiled, he held up a glass that had the same kind of cocktail in it and left soon after. We were taken aback by what happened so suddenly. 

MC: ...He probably wasn't that bad. 

Kanoe-san's shoulders dropped after looking between the cocktail and the man's back. 

MC: Let's try them. 

Kanoe: ...Yeah. 

As Kanoe-san lightly brought the rim of the glass to his mouth, he tasted the sky-colored cocktail. 

MC: ...It's good. 

Kanoe: ...

MC: Kanoe-san? 

I saw that there was more than half of the drink left in his glass. 

MC: Could it be that you don't like it? 

Kanoe: ...No, that's not it. 

When he made a stiff smile, he brought the cocktail to his mouth. Although... 

Kanoe: ...

Unable to drink even half of it, his face turned pale... 

Chapter 5 - True Thoughts After the Drink

From outside of the window, countless cheerful voices could be heard... When Kanoe-san collapsed, I took him back to the lodging facility. 

MC: Kanoe-san... Are you able to drink some water? 

Kanoe: ...Yeah. 

As we were sitting next to each other on the sofa with him leaning against my shoulder, he answered listlessly.

Man: Sorry about earlier. As an apology, this'll be on me. 

-Flashback-

(The reason why Kanoe-san couldn't drink it was because he smelled alcohol in it. That person probably switched the glasses...) 

When I looked at his face as he was leaning against my shoulder, I became overwhelmed with guilt for not realizing it sooner. 

MC: Why would you push yourself to drink such strong alcohol...

Kanoe: ...I didn't want to give in. If I had noticed that guy was going to harass me... I might've made you worried more. 

After saying that softly, Kanoe-san smiled weakly.

When Kanoe-san got up, he slowly reached out and touched my cheek. 

Kanoe: Your innocent smile is so cute that it makes me want to see it more. Yet, since I'm not used to places like this... Even though I wanted to escort you well, I ended up looking so pathetic instead. 

When he showed a troubled smile, it crushed my heart painfully. 

MC: This might sound a little strange, but... I'm happy that I got to see you when you're down. 

Kanoe-san widened his eyes in surprise. 

Kanoe: MC... 

Then, when he softly narrowed his eyes, he looked happy. 

Kanoe: I see. I might've been trying to show off a little too much. Even though this was the result of that guy getting payback... I'm glad that I got to hear how you feel. 

MC: Kanoe-san... 

Kanoe: I promise not to push myself from here on. 

When he told me that sincerely, the inside of my heart became warm. 

Kanoe: Sorry for tiring you out... We should go soon. 

MC: Are you okay now? 

Kanoe: If I'm answering honestly, I'm still not back to normal. 

When Kanoe-san held his head as he got up, he held out his other hand to me. 

Kanoe: But... I want to go back to having a date with you again. Won't you come with me? 

MC: Yes, of course. 

When I took his hand, he placed his other hand on me gently...
