Chapter 6 - Sad Look

Since then... Capita-san has been showing expressions he's never made before a lot. His reactions were filled with interest from each of my actions and the stuff I talked about. 

Capita: ...I see, so the outside world had that kind of odd thing trending. 

MC: Yes. Do you want to see it up close? 

Capita: Please do. It's truly fascinating. 

When I took out various devices that I've brought from the outside, his eyes widened as he sighed in admiration... Although...

Capita: The world that you resided in, it's completely different from this quiet forest... 

He softly murmured that as he fiddled with the tablet in his hand. When he moved his gaze from the screen to me, there was a slightly sad look in those eyes.

Chapter 7 - Trembling Eyes

As the sun was going down, dusk was arriving in Forest... 

The next day in early evening, I found Capita-san in the castle hallway. 

Capita: ...

As he was looking at the courtyard from the hallway, the sunlight casted a shadow on the side of his face uneasily. 

(What is he thinking of...?) 

As there was a distant look in his eyes...

MC: Capita-san...

I couldn't help, but call out to him.

Capita: You...

MC: ...Can we talk for a bit? 

Capita-san and I went to the courtyard...

When we sat down on a bench in the garden that was in the sunset glow, I asked him how he was feeling. 

MC: Did something happen? 

Capita: What do you mean by that? 

MC: Well, it's just that you seemed down somehow... 

Capita: Down... Well, I don't think I'm always energetic like you. 

MC: Um... 

MC: That was a compliment... But, I guess so. 

When he held his mouth, he sighed and started talking. 

Capita: ...I don't know the reason, but I've never understood my own feelings a lot here. I've never had these kinds of feelngs towards Alice, that girl from my memories of the past. 

MC: Alice... Come to think of it, didn't she suddenly disappear one day? 

Capita: That's right. Along with her words and behavior, her entire existence was a mystery. Just like you...

His eyes moved from the sunset to me. There was a somewhat uneasy look in those eyes. 

Capita: I was wondering if you'll suddenly disappear like Alice someday... MC, aren't you like Alice too?

When he said my name for the first time, my heart lightly throbbed. Although, I was more surprised about the feelings that Capita-san had. 

MC: I'm not Alice, so I don't think I'll disappear... 

Capita: Then, from here on... Won't you stay in Forest forever? 

MC: That's... 

I was silently reflected in his eyes. 

MC: ...

As I was unsure on how to answer, I only looked at Capita-san's trembling eyes. 

Capita: ...

It was hard for me to tell how he was feeling from his silence. Although, when he slowly closed his eyes...

Capita: ...I've made you hear something so strange. 

When he got up, he turned his back on me and started walking. 

MC: Ah...

Before I could call out to him, he left from there. 

(Capita-san...?) 

As the sunlight shined on his back, he looked like he was about to disappear into the sunset...

Last Chapter - Something Called Love

-Flashback-

Capita: Then, from here on... Won't you stay in Forest forever? 

-Flashback-

Then, once it was time for me to leave Forest, I headed to Capita-san's room. When he opened the door as soon as I knocked, he invited me in. 

Capita: I see... Tomorrow, you'll be leaving the castle. 

MC: ...Yes. 

Capita: Then, I'll have someone lead you outside the woods. It wouldn't be good if you got lost along the way like when you came here. 

As the lamp light was swaying mystically, Capita-san told me that softly. He sounded like he was hiding his emotions somehow. 

Capita: ...

MC: ...

While the veil of night was setting outside the window, we stayed silent as we were unable to converse with each other. Then, Capita-san silently raised his face... 

Capita: The mystery of love and this feeling too... I can't understand it.

MC: Capita-san...? 

Capita-san showed an expression that I've never seen him make before. Anger, sadness, uneasiness... Those are what I can describe such a complicated expression. 

MC: I'm sorry... Even though you told me to assist you, I wasn't of any help.

Just as I took a step closer to him...

Capita: Then, right now... Tell me!

MC: ...

When I heard him shout for the first time, I flinched instantly. His left eye that could be seen through the gaps of his long bangs narrowed in pain. 

Capita: What is this feeling that's holding me...

MC: Capita-san...? 

His fingers strongly grabbed my shoulders. 

Capita: Even though I wanted to know about love... All it does is brings me pain and it doesn't feel new or enjoyable at all like you said. Tell me, MC... What is this?

Capita-san's celestial sphere fell off from the desk. 

MC: Capita-san...? 

His eyes were shaking with uneasiness. 

Capita: What... is this? My heart feels like it's about to split. Whenever I hear you talk, see your smile and sad face, I don't know what to do. I want you to stay by my side for eternity that I'm even wishing for it... 

What he was telling me made my heart throb greatly.

-Flashback-

MC: ...Every day feels like new and it's something heart racing and enjoyable... I think? 

-Flashback-

(I... I did say something like that to him. Love is...) 

I reached for his cheek. 

MC: ...Love isn't just soft and warm. I'm sorry... 

Capita: Why are you apologizing... MC? 

When he said that shakily, Capita-san held my hand with his large hand. 

Capita: I want to ask one thing... This strong feeling of wanting to embrace you, is that what they call love? 

MC: That's... I'm sure that's only something you should know. But... 

As I felt my loud heartbeat, I smiled as I made a wish for Capita-san. 

MC: I think... it's okay to think it as that. 

My fingers that were touching Capita-san's cheek were trembling clumsily. Aside from what I thought, his cheek had warm blood running through it. 

Capita: MC... 

Capita-san's large hand that was tightly gripping my hand was trembling a little. Even though he has lived for such a long time, the uneasiness that took hold of his heart was the same as mine... That's what I feel. As the time that felt like it has stopped was going by, Capita-san lets go of me. 

Capita: ...I see... Love is something that has many truths to it. 

Capita-san made a soft smile that he's never shown before. 

MC: Yes, I'm sure of it. 

Capita: It looks like this is the end of this unsolvable mystery, I feel that I shouldn't go any further than this... MC, won't you come visit Forest again? Right now, I'm unable to handle this sort of thing called love well... The next time we meet, I want to tell you thoroughly once I understand this love of mine. 

MC: ...Okay!

When I nodded, he placed a soft kiss on my hand like what he did in the beginning. It felt like he was making a promise that we'll meet again someday...

(I'll wait...) 

Within my heart, it certainly felt like I was developing romantic feelings towards him, but... Right now, I'm going to wait until we can talk to each other more skillfully someday, that's what I was thinking...
