Capita - Prince of Wondermare - Moon End

Chapter 6 - Wavering Feelings

A few days since then... The stars were appearing and disappearing in the rifts between the clouds at night...

-Flashback-

Capita: Neither of us knows what'll happen this time, so once we find the truth, we can connect the pieces together next.

-Flashback-

(Even though Capita-san said that...)

I've decided to leave Forest tomorrow.

(The Forest territory in the Kingdom of Wonders hate changes... Ever since I came here, I've been a bother to Capita-san.)

In my head, I remembered the sensation of his hand.

(I have to say farewell to Capita-san.)

As feelings that I never knew existed were forming within me, I headed to his room...

When I stood in front of his room, my legs were shaking for some reason.

(I wonder why.)

I needed a lot of courage to knock, but... Just as I was ready, I knocked on the door.

MC: Capita-san...?

Capita: ...It's you, what are you doing this late at night?

MC: Um, I want to talk to you.

Capita: ...Okay.

After a few seconds, Capita-san invited me into his room...

Chapter 7 - Love and the Mystery of Alice

In Capita-san's room, there were all sorts of things lying around. An oddly shaped globe, a mysterious bright statue and a lot of books. Also, the scent in the room was...

(It's the scent of Capita-san's tobacco...)

That scent was filling me with pain.

Capita: Sorry about the mess.

On his bedside, there was a book that he was reading and some coffee that had become completely cold.

MC: Sorry... for coming here this late.

Capita: I don't mind. This is your last night here in Forest.

MC: ...

After he said that, I kept silent. Then, Capita-san sat near the window and looked at the book that he was reading. The clock hand made a ticking sound in the silent night.

Capita: ...

MC: ...

When I sat down in a chair near him, I looked at him as he was reading. Nothing has changed since we've met and I couldn't tell how he was feeling from his eyes...

MC: Umm.

Just as I spoke, he sighed.

Capita: In the end, I couldn't find the solution to the mystery of love... Since you're from the outside world, I thought that I would find it this time...

MC: I'm sorry that I wasn't much help.

Capita: There's no need to apologize. Even though nothing has changed now, it'll have to do. Still, aside from being unable to solve the mystery of love, the biggest mystery that's been holding me is Alice's disappearance.

Only the two of us heard that when he sadly whispered that into the night. When he moved his gaze towards the outside of the window, he looked at the moon.

Capita: Why did that girl... She abandoned everything in this world and disappeared.

As he was thinking about the distant past, my heart throbbed in pain. Along with being surprised by that expression, I remembered what he said the other day.

-Flashback-

Capita: During the time Alice was in this world, that girl's rudeness was so irritating. Yet, at the same time, the mystery behind that girl was so deeply intriguing.

-Flashback-

...

-Flashback-

Capita: Before, I felt that I was on the brink of solving it once, but in the end, it remained a mystery.

-Flashback-

(I wonder why he couldn't figure it out. Did Capita-san... towards Alice?)

When I came to that fact, it felt like my heart had been painfully stabbed. As I felt that pain, I clenched my hand... and spoke to him.

MC: Capita-san... Do you know what loneliness feels like?

Capita: ...?

After I said that, he looked at me with his well-featured face...

Last Chapter - The Remaining Scent of Love

I could hear the beautiful sound of a bug chirping from somewhere...

MC: Capita-san... Do you know what loneliness feels like?

He turned towards me and made an oddly strained face.

Capita: Loneliness...?

MC: ...Yes.

Capita: That's a strange feeling to ask about. I would never forget such a feeling. Looking at your face, I can guess that you're feeling "loneliness" right now.

When Capita-san closed the book, his fingers reached out for my cheek.

MC: ...

The moment when his pale fingers softly touched my skin, the inside of my heart was overflowing with feelings...

Capita: ...It doesn't mean that you have to cry.

MC: Eh...?

Capita: No, you were making the same face when you were reading a picture book the other day. Come to think of it, if people cry... Still, it's strange. I'm not feeling lonely, but seeing you make that kind of face is making me...

MC: Capita-san...?

As he was in the middle of talking, he slowly closed his mouth. His eyes slightly trembled as he looked at me.

Capita: These feelings... I've felt them somewhere before.

Capita-san touched his chin and pondered about something.

MC: That's...

As I felt a tight pain dwelling within my chest, I looked straight at Capita-san.

MC: Capita-san, that unknown feeling is love... I'm sure that you already knew about it this whole time. Please try thinking about "Alice"...

Once I readied myself and said that, Capita-san widened his eyes. Then...

Capita: ...I see... So, that's... what it was...

After sighing deeply, he murmured that and placed the water tobaccos pipe that was on the desk in his mouth...

There was a sad look of nostalgia in his eyes due to his eternal past.

Capita: Alice... She disappeared and remained in me for eternity... The feelings that I've held towards her were...

The purple smoke that he blew out went around the lamp that was lit in the dead of night.

MC: ...

Seeing him like that for the first time felt painful and also fleeting...

(Even though he didn't know the feeling of love was, he's been thinking about her this whole time...)

Even though I don't know what it's like to live for a long time, the side of his face hid his feelings towards the girl... As I gripped my chest, I stopped talking about his love that ended...

(My heart... It hurts.)

Capita: ...Even though so much time has gone by. Alie disappearing, the world changing, Forest is the only place that has the nostalgia of the past by hanging onto the remains of the decease...

MC: ...Capita-san.

His words made me think about my own feelings.

(I'm sure that these feelings of mine will end without me telling him about them...)

Parts of the lingering scent of live drifted into my heart.

......

The next day, Capita-san accompanied me until we got to town. While going through the deep woods... The two of us walked on the path that'll lead to the prairie near town.

Then, once we were out of the woods, we arrived at a vast prairie.

Capita: Being with you these past few weeks was a really fruitful time for me.

MC: ...Same here.

Capita: Well then, take care. Just take this path to town and you won't get lost.

MC: Okay... Thank you.

When he held out his hand, I held it with both of mine. Then, when I pulled away, I gave him a smile and turned my back towards him.

Capita: ...I would like to see you next time.

MC: Eh...

He made an odd expression as he looked at the hand that I just held.

Capita: I understood the thing that you called love. It's thanks to you. But, that's all in the past. The emotion that's like a lost love... I want to know it. I'm wondering why I realized it when you were around. This kind of uncertainty, if it won't be too much trouble, will it be possible for you to...

Capita-san was saying a lot of strange things.

MC: ...Yes! Of course.

I didn't understand the meaning behind his words, but I will see him again. Until then, I'll tell him how I feel for sure...

When I prayed for that many times, I left Forest...
