Chapter 6 - Sudden Disappearance

After parting from Cyril and the kitten, we each went into our own rooms. As the night was calmly silent, it felt a little too quiet today. 

(Since we can't hear that kitten's cry... Cyril might be feeling sad right now.) 

The moment I was thinking about him... 

Cyril: Princess, you're awake, right? Open up. 

(Cyril!?) 

When I opened the door without responding, Cyril slid into the room. 

Cyril: Do you know where he is? When I went to check on him, he disappeared from the shed. 

MC: No way...! Did he get outside somehow? 

Cyril: It seems like he went out through the wall. It was a small gap, but don't you think that he could have gone through it? 

Cyril was acting like he didn't care, but... The moment I saw his eyes when he brushed up his bangs, they were shaking worriedly. 

MC: I didn't notice... 

Cyril: Why did he go off by himself... 

When he suddenly made a sad face, he turned his back on me to hide it.

MC: Cyril, let's go look for him together right now. 

Cyril: There's no need, Princess. I can do it by myself. 

MC: I'm worried too.

Cyril: ...Fine, do as you like. I won't have time to look after you though.

Chapter 7 - Swallowed by Sadness

As the cold nightly wind was blowing in the back alley, it hit against me and Cyril's cheeks. We went to the spot where we first found the kitten, but...

Cyril: In the end, it became like this too... He left too... 

Feeling helpless, Cyril said that listlessly.

Just as I was about to place my hand on his shoulder at that moment...

Cyril: Let's go back.

MC: Eh?

To stop Cyril, I stood before him. 

MC: It's too early to give up. Let's search somewhere else. 

Cyril: No. 

MC: We just started looking, we can still-

Cyril: It's obvious to me!

MC: !

When he suddenly became angry again, I became intimidated. Anger and loneliness... All of Cyril's emotions were showing. 

Cyril: Besides, this whole time... It's always been like this...!

Cyril's voice trembled as he squeezed out those words from his throat. 

Cyril: Everyone... They all left... They don't care about me. It doesn't matter what I do! There's nothing for me... I have no one!

The kitten that Cyril cared about left him... That feeling of loss made him want to look for it even more. 

MC: That's not true! I... 

Cyril: Even you'll want to get rid of me! 

When the moonlight above us shined on Cyril's eyes, they looked like a sharp shiny blade. 

Cyril: You want to get to know me and say stuff to me to make me feel better, but someday... 

He ended his words there. When Cyril stomped on the ground in irritation, he was about to run off at that moment... 

MC: Don't go! 

I quickly grabbed his hand and held it strongly. 

Cyril: Let go...!

MC: I won't!

(I don't want Cyril to feel apathetic towards everyone...!) 

Cyril: You're such an annoying princess!

Whan a black haze began to pour out from Cyril's hand, it coiled around my arm. 

MC: !

The moment I lost my strength, Cyril went into the black darkness... I tried to reach out to him again, but all that I grasped was the empty air... 

Last Chapter - Dawn Arriving

His blonde hair blended in with the moonlight as the wind blew through it smoothly. 

Cyril: ...

After Cyril left town, he was aimlessly looking up at the night sky. 

MC: Cyril! Thank goodness, I've been looking for you... 

I ran towards him, but I tripped due to my legs that have gotten tired from running... 

Cyril: ...!? 

Just as I was about to fall, Cyril caught me. 

Cyril: Geez, how stupid... 

MC: I'm sorry, thank you... I just felt so relieved after finding you. 

As my shoulders were going up and down, Cyril made a bewildered look. 

Cyril: Being so out of breath... Why would you go that far... 

Kitten: Meow. 

(Eh?) 

When Cyril and I heard a cute cry from below, we looked down at the same time. What we saw was the lost kitten, rubbing it's face against Cyril's leg. 

Cyril: You, why are you here...!

Cyril's surprised tone overlapped with the small kitten's voice. When we looked around the area, a cat that looked like it's parent was looking at us from slightly afar. 

Cyril: What, you were just going back to your family... 

When Cyril picked up the kitten, he made a soft expression. 

Cyril: Then, this is goodbye for real. 

He sounded both relieved and painfully reluctant. 

MC: I'm sure that's what he wanted to say to you too. Goodbye... and also, thank you. 

Cyril: Thank you...? 

MC: When someone treats you with care, you'll want to return those feelings someday. Not soon, but maybe in the distant future... They'll surely be returned. 

Cyril: ...Why would you...

When he looked straight at me with his amber-colored eyes, they clearly showed a look I've never seen before. 

MC: Cyril...? 

Cyril: Being with you makes me go crazy... 

As tears were slightly showing in his eyes, the moonlight and the starlight interweaved together as they reflected on them. 

Cyril: Feelings being returned... Does that include you too...? If I love you, does that mean that you'll return that feeling? 

Cyril appealed to me with a clinging look in his eyes. When I nodded without hesitation, I gently placed my hand on his innocent cheek. 

MC: You helped me earlier, right? That made me really happy. 

Cyril: That was, my body just moved on it's own somehow... 

MC: I want to repay the kindness that you gave me. 

Cyril: Princess... 

At that moment, Cyril reached for my hand that was on his cheek, but... He drew his body back in surprise and held the kitten tightly instead. 

Cyril: ...I'm scared. 

MC: Eh...? 

Cyril: Giving care, being cared for... Just like what this guy did, it might disappear. No, it wasn't just him... 

The tears in Cyril's eyes turned big and fell just now. 

Cyril: Even when I tried to be useful... The one that Fllayg-nii needs is Adam-nii... No matter how many dreams I take... Yzak-nii and Ivan-nii only care about Adam-nii. Even Ru-nii, he even went with you in the end... 

MC: Cyril... 

(What he was afraid of was the expectation of getting hurt... Cyril must have been hurt like this many times.) 

The pain that Cyril kept to himself made my heart throb. I softly petted his blonde hair the same way he did it to the kitten. 

MC: I want to be by your side, Cyril.

MC: That feeling of the person that you were caring for disappearing... Even though you put all your effort into that, you couldn't make an impression... It troubles you how you don't get repaid for it. So... Unless you love, your uneasiness and fears won't disappear. 

Cyril: I know that! But... Something like that... 

The moment Cyril blinked, teardrops fell from his eyes. 

Cyril: Something like that... I don't know what to do anymore. 

When he lets go of the kitten that he was holding, he hugged me soon after. 

MC: I'll stay with you. I... I'll take care of you. 

As Cyril's warm tears were flowing down, they softly touched my cheek. 

Cyril: Hey, Princess... Don't disappear on me. 

Instead of responding, I hugged Cyril tightly at that moment... As the bright light of dawn arrived, it shined on us...
