Chapter 1 - The Town of Northern Cross

Kingdom of Stars, Northern Cross... 

A few days later since I've awakened Prince Deneb and he parted from me in a hurry. I've received permission to visit and went to the verdant plateau of the summer retreat, Northern Cross, to see him. 

(Where is the castle?) 

As I was looking around while walking in the main street that was bustling with tourists, someone called out to me from behind. 

Deneb?: Miss! Are you free? 

A beautiful young man in clothes that were white like porcelain was staring at my face with a playful look in his eyes. 

MC: Ah, Deneb-sa-

Deneb?: Me, I only came to Northern Cross for some sightseeing, but it's boring to do all that alone. You look like a tourist, so how about we look around town together? 

MC: Uh, um. 

Deneb?: I'm not a bad person, so there's no need to be so cautious~

As it felt like I was meeting Deneb-san for the first time as he was inviting me out, I was at a loss for words. 

(How strange. He's just like him, but what if he's not Deneb-san?) 

While he was holding some of his soft-looking light blue hair, he smiled as if there was a toy in front of him. Feeling perplexed, I looked at the man that looked and sounded just like Deneb-san.

Chapter 2 - White Bird

When I came to Northern Cross to visit Deneb-san, I met a young man that looked exactly like Deneb-san. 

(Is he Deneb-san? Or someone that resembles him...? Hmm. No matter how it seems, he looks just like Deneb-san, but...) 

As I was feeling perplexed, I glanced at him repeatedly while walking next to him. Although, he noticed my gaze and smiled as if he knew. 

Deneb?: Now then, where shall we go check out? I s there something that you want to see? 

When he said that, he opened the tourist map as his eyes shined excitedly. 

(Hmm, I'm happy, but... I need to go to the castle now, so I should turn him down properly.) 

MC: Um... I have something to do at the castle...

Deneb?: The castle? Going to that kind of place won't be fun~!

(Eh...?) 

After saying that, he grabbed my hand and walked. 

MC: ! Where are we going...!? 

Deneb?: Fufu, a nice plae!

While pulling my hand, he took me to a vast forest that was overgrown with green leaves behind the town. As the cool atmosphere made my shoulders shrug, I followed him from behind with a trot... 

Deneb?: Here, look! 

The moment I looked to where he was pointing at, there was the sound of countless wings flapping as white birds entered my vision. 

MC: ...!

When the flock of white birds formed into a line among the contrast of the blue sky and the abundant green that entwined with each other, I became amazed by how beautiful that looked. 

MC: ...Wow... 

Deneb?: Hey, isn't this better than the castle? 

When he looked at me happily, I suddenly came back to my senses.

Deneb?: Right~?

- I'm surprised (☼)

Deneb?: Fufufu, then I'm glad that I took you here!

As I felt a little embarrassed from being charmed by the scene before me, I looked at him in front of me. 

(...Just who is he? Is he really Deneb-san?) 

Deneb?: Now then, let's return to town. I have the tourist map, so I'll take you to the castle too!

MC: Ah... Okay, thank you. 

When he smiled innocently, I smiled as well. Then, just as he was smiling, he made a serious look and stared at me. 

Deneb?: ...Is what I thought. You know what, let's not! Let's take our time for a bit longer. 

MC: ...Eh!? 

When he said something strange again, I became confused. 

MC: I really have something to do there...!

To free myself from him, I frantically tried to reason with him. But, he shook his head and ignored my words... 

Chapter 3 - In the Town Again

After seeing the beautiful sight in the forest, we returned to town again. 

Deneb?: Before we go to the castle, let's take our time to pass the time a bit more.

MC: But, I really need to go now...

Deneb?: Eh? Why? 

- I'm sorry (☽)

MC: I'm sorry. But...

Deneb?: Eh? But, what?

MC: I made a promise. 

Deneb?: A promise? What time, minute and second? 

MC: W-We haven't made plans with that many details... 

Deneb?: Who did you make a promise with? 

MC: W-With Prince Deneb. 

Deneb?: ...

After hearing that, he made an unreadable expression and became silent for a few seconds. 

Deneb?: ...Hmm. Are you interested in the prince? 

MC: Interested!? T-That's not what I meant... 

I became surprised by the unexpected topic. 

Deneb?: What! In that case, it'll be fine!

In the end, he pulled my arm forcefully again and walked all over town. 

At a glass workshop that he took me to, a beautiful white bird ornament caught my eye. 

(Wow... It's sparkling brightly with the light reflected on it...) 

That beauty made me remember the flock of white birds that I saw in the forest earlier. 

(I've been seeing a lot of beautiful things that are related to white birds today...) 

Deneb?: I'm getting hungry soon. I'll take you to a restaurant with a tasty lunch that I've heard about. It'll be my treat. 

MC: That's...! I'd feel bad about that. 

(Despite that he's a stranger... Also... Is he really Deneb-san?) 

Deneb?: We're friends that have been spending time together for half the day! There's no need to hold yourself back~ Okay? 

MC: But... 

Deneb?: Now, let's go~!

Overwhelmed by his peculiar forceful smile, I was unable to refuse him again. 

The place that Deneb-san took me to was a café bar that had a really stylish atmosphere. I took an instant liking to the atmosphere inside the restaurant that had goods with simple styles and houseplants around.

(But....) 

Feeling uneasy, I looked up at the clock in the restaurant. Even though we haven't decided on a precise meeting time, I'm roughly over the estimated meeting time. 

(I can't get in touch with him and since it's this late, he might be worried...) 

Then... 

Deneb?: ...Sorry...

MC: Eh? 

Deneb?: ...For taking you around so forcefully. 

He seemed to have gotten worried after seeing me look at the clock so anxiously. 

MC: Ah, uh... 

Deneb? I've been having fun at my own convenience... 

When his shoulders dropped as he looked apologetic, my heart throbbed in pain. 

(He just wanted me to have fun... Yet, I feel bad for not refusing him properly right away...)

MC: Um, please don't worry about it. 

Deneb?: But...

- Don't apologize (☽)

MC: Um, please don't apologize. 

Deneb?: Eh...?

MC: Thanks to you, I got to see such nice things. 

(With him showing me around, I got to see some sights that I surely wouldn't be able to see.) 

Deneb?: ...You're so kind. 

When he said that as his shoulders loosened up from relief, he showed a smile. Seeing that smile made me sigh in relief. 

(Thank goodness... After this, I should go straight to the castle. Since I'm no longer feeling uneasy, I should enjoy the meal right now at least.) 

In my mind, I thought of that secretly...

Chapter 4- Memories of Today

After we enjoyed the tasty lunch in the café bar, we went outside fully satisfied. 

MC: Thank you for the food. It was really delicious. 

Deneb?: You're welcome! You must've been really happy since you were with me~ Like I thought... Spending time with you like this... Is ni... 

I was unable to hear the words that he murmured softly as they got drowned out by the noise in town. 

MC: Eh? 

Deneb?: Ah, uh... Look, spending time with you like this makes it a really nice traveling memory!

MC: ? 

(Did he really just say that? Somehow, it feels like he's deceiving me well...) 

Whether or not he knew I was thinking that, he continued talking as he smiled. 

Deneb?: Thank you so much. I had a lot of fun hanging out with you. I hope that you have made some nice memories as well!

MC: Eh...? Ah... Y-Yes, thank you. But, um... I think I have made some nice memories too.

MC: I had fun because we've been looking around at all sorts of places in town together. 

Deneb?: Really? ...Saying something that cute will make me want to take you someplace other than the castle.

MC: I'm sure that I'll never forget seeing the white bird for my entire life. 

Deneb?: ...That makes me a little jealous of the white bird. Just kidding.

Despite knowing that he was joking, I became embarrassed as he was looking at me with his beautiful face close by. When I turned red and looked down, instead of the cheerful smile that he's shown up till now, he made an unforgettable smile. 

Then, with him leading the way, we headed to the castle together. 

Deneb?: Ah, look! That's the kingdom's castle~

The moment we climbed up the soft slope, he pointed towards it with a smile as he was walking slightly ahead of me. The Norther Cross castle had a beautiful appearance with well-made towers around it. 

MC: What a beautiful castle. 

As the tall, beautiful castle lifted our spirits, we quickly ran down the slope and approached the castle gate. At that moment... 

Guard 1: Is Deneb-sama not here? 

Guard 2: When is the guest from Traumerei supposed to be arriving, isn't it strange...! 

(Eh?) 

Some guards ran past us on horseback and headed towards town. 

(They said that Deneb-san isn't in the castle... Then, that must mean...) 

MC: Um... 

Just as I suddenly went past him, I raised my head and turned around to ask him a question. Although, he was nowhere to be seen...
