Chapter 5 - A Late Explanation

After walking together with someone that resembled Deneb-san in town, he disappeared and left me in front of the castle. 

(Where did he go?) 

Despite how confused I was, I looked around restlessly until a man appeared from the castle gate and called out to me.

??: Are you the Traumerei Princess? 

MC: Y-Yes.

??: I'm the butler of the Northern Cross castle. My apologies for making you wait, please follow me. 

Even though I was wondering where Deneb-san went, I entered the castle gate and followed the man. 

Butler: The truth is... Deneb-sama went out somewhere. 

MC: O-Okay. Although, I did hear him a little when I was in front of the castle. 

With Deneb-san suddenly out, the butler told me to head to where the gallery is. 

Then, at the gallery, the king was already waiting. 

King: My apologies for having you come all the way here. Honestly, what is Deneb doing...

The king furrowed his brow from Deneb-san's disappearance... Then, right at that moment... 

Deneb: I'm back. 

When we turned towards that voice, there was the person that looked like Deneb-san that I was with during the day. 

Deneb: I was late because I was choosing a present for MC-chan.

As he said that, he held out the glass white bird that I was looking at. 

MC: This is...!

Deneb: Are you surprised?

Deneb-san happily spreads out both of his hands as he walked towards me...

Deneb: Were you surprised? 

When I arrived at the castle, I found out that the man I was with during the day was the real Deneb-san. 

Deneb: All of today's events were for surprising you. Wasn't the date fun? 

MC: ...I am surprised. 

Deneb: Then, it was a success!

As I blinked, Deneb-san made a mischievous smile and then... 

King: You fool!

After hearing our conversation, the king shouted at Deneb-san. 

King: How could you do something so rude to the Traumerei Princess!! Always doing such childish pranks... Diong such things is what makes me uneasy about leaving this kingdom to you!

Even so, Deneb-san only smiled at the angry king. 

Deneb: That anger is enough to get me excited. I'll just leave it to you for a while, Father! Now then,let's go!

MC: Eh... 

Then, at that moment, he held my hand and ran out of the room.

After that... Deneb-san took me to his room. When the sun went down unnoticed, the stars began to twinkle in the sky...

(Is this okay despite how angry the king was...) 

Deneb: Why are you looking so down? 

MC: It's about the king...

Deneb-san ignored my worries and chuckled as he lightly smiled. 

Deneb: It's just a normal fight between a parent and child, so there's no need to worry about it. 

He got up from the bed and pulled my hand. 

Deneb: Come over here. You could feel a little bit of the night breeze. 

MC: Eh... 

When we went out to the balcony, I felt the cool breeze against my cheek. 

Deneb: Aside from Father being the opposite of me and having such a hard head! ...I'm sorry about surprising you. 

Deneb-san's light blue bangs fluttered from the night breeze blowing. 

MC: ... 

As the moonlight shined on the side of his face and made him more beautiful, I was looking at him before I knew it. 

Deneb: What's wrong? Could it be that you're mad? 

MC: N-No... It's okay since your relationship with him hasn't gone bad. 

When our eyes met, I quickly looked away from him. 

Deneb: Since we're always fighting, I can't say that we get along well. But, it's all right since we don't hate each other!

I felt relieved from Deneb-san's carefree response. 

Deneb: Despite everything... Did you have fun today? I thought it'd make you happier than being in a nerve wrecking party in the castle.

MC: Eh...

Feeling his gaze, I looked at Deneb-san... 

As Deneb-san rested his chin in his hand against the balcony handrail, he looked at the side of my face. 

Deneb: Somehow, you're pretty normal. 

(Normal...)

When those words made my shoulders drop a little, Deneb-san smiled. 

Deneb: There's nothing bad about that. I have always wanted to go on a normal date. 

MC: ...Okay. Even though there were various surprises, it was fun. It's just as you said, I'm not good with being in parties... 

After I said that, Deneb-san's jewellike eyes softly narrowed. 

Deneb: Yeah, that's what I thought. 

(Such a strange person... Even though we were together for a bit, it feels like he can see right through me completely...) 

He looked at me with a magical look in his eyes.

MC: Yes. It was fun when you were showing me around town. 

Deneb: I still have a lot more places that I want to take you to. So, look forward to that next time!

MC: Thank you. 

I smiled when he happily said that. Then... 

Deneb: You're really cute when you're like that. 

MC: Eh... 

My cheeks became warm from simple remark. 

Deneb: Ah, but... 

MC: ?

Deneb: If we do go on a normal date like you wanted, then my arguments with Father will probably never end~ My right to the throne might get stripped away from me because of you... 

Deneb-san's eyes were looking teary as he made a heartrending expression. As the way he was behaving was really cute... I began to feel sorry for him. 

MC: Y-You shouldn't do that...!

Deneb: No? But, don't you like it when it's normal? 

As he leaned in towards me at a close touching distance, he gazed into my eyes. 

(T-Too close, how embarrassing...) 

MC: T-That's not what I meant... 

I tried to deny it and then... 

Deneb: For you, I think it'll be okay to throw away my position as prince. That way, you don't have to bear all the responsibility for me. 

MC: Deneb-san...? 

Deneb: Now then, as a response towards my feelings, will you promise to stay by my side forever? 

Before I knew it, Deneb-san's expression instantly changed from being frail to smiling mischievously with some excitement. 

(Is he serious...? Or is he trying to surprise me again...?) 

Despite the frantic thoughts that were going through my head... 

Deneb: Your answer? 

As he was looking at me, I ended up nodding. 

MC: Yes... I promise. 

Deneb-san smiled and looked up at the sky that was filled with stars. 

Deneb: Tomorrow will be clear as well. Where shall we go? The stars look pretty here, but there's a place that makes them look prettier. Ah, but if we do that, it'll be dawn by the time we return to the castle. 

As Deneb-san chuckled joyfully, he smiled. Despite that Deneb-san was teasing me... I thought about how I want to hurry and go to that place with Deneb-san tomorrow...
