Chapter 5 - The Northern Cross Castle

When the person that looked like Deneb-san, who I was walking around town with, left me in front of the castle, he disappeared. 

(Where did he go?) 

As I was bewildered and looked around the area, a man appeared from within the castle gate and called out to me. 

??: Are you the Traumerei Princess? 

MC: Y-Yes. 

??: I'm the butler of the Northern Cross castle. We've been waiting for you, I'll show you in. 

Even though I was curious about where that person disappeared off to, I went inside the castle with the man that appeared as a guide. 

Butler: Once Deneb-sama is done getting ready, I'll let you know. Please take your time to rest. 

MC: I understand, thank you. 

(I heard that Deneb-san was nowhere to be found earlier, but...) 

I couldn't bring myself to question it. 

(I guess that person wasn't Deneb-san.) 

As I was looking outside the window by myself, I thought of the places that I went to with the person that looked like Deneb-san...

Then, by the time the sun was going down... 

Butler: Thank you for waiting. Please, come this way. 

The butler led me to the party hall. 

Deneb: Hey, MC-chan! You finally came. 

Deneb-san happily spreads out both of his hands and walked towards me. The moment I got a closer look at Deneb-san, who I was facing now, my questionable thoughts have changed. 

(I knew it... It wasn't just another person that looked like him!)

Deneb: That's right... I forgot to give this to you earlier. 

When he said that as if nothing has happened, Deneb-san presented the glass ornamental white bird to me...

Last Chapter - The Promise of a Secret Date

Deneb: Hey, MC-chan! You finally came. 

Once I met Deneb-san in the castle party hall, I was certain the moment I saw his face. The man I met during the day and Deneb-san were both the same person... 

Deneb: That's right... I forgot to give this to you earlier. 

When he presented the glasswork of a white bird after saying that, there was no mistaking that it was the one I saw in the shop that we went to during the day. 

MC: I knew it, it really was you...

Deneb: Fufufu!

He happily smiled like a child that had succeeded with a prank. 

Butler: D-Deneb-sama... Could it be that today, while you were nowhere to be found... 

Deneb: Hmm? What could you be talking about? 

When Deneb-san placed his index finger on his chin while looking in the opposite direction, the butler frowned. 

Butler: Deneb-sama! How were you-

Deneb: I'll listen to your scoldings later, I want to be with MC-chan right now. 

Butler: ... 

Unable to go against Deneb-san's broad smile, the butler didn't say anything else and left, then it was just me and Deneb-san in the hall. 

MC: ...But, why did you do something like that? 

Deneb: Explaining would ruin the mood a little. Let's leave this castle first. 

MC: Eh? 

Deneb: Come on, MC-chan, come with me!

Just like during the day, Deneb-san grabbed my hand tightly and ran out towards the exit...

While Deneb-san was pulling my hand, we went outside of the castle. The sky had turned dark completely and the stars were shining beautifully. 

MC: Deneb-san, where are we going? 

Deneb: Just wait for a bit longer. 

After a while, we arrived at a harbor on the side of the river. After untying the gondola rope that was lightly tied around a post, Deneb-san beckoned me to get on. 

Deneb: Get on!

MC: Eh... 

Deneb: Hurry!

MC: O-Okay. 

With Deneb-san's urgings, I went up to him as my heart was racing. 

(I got swept away by Deneb-san's way completely...) 

Despite that I thought of that, my excitement was strangely rising. While we were sitting across from each other in the gondola, it was a little quiet as we heard the ripples in the water. 

Deneb: Hey, the stars are really pretty!

When I looked up into the distance after he said that... 

(Wow...) 

The bright sparkles were creating a river of stars in the dark blue sky. While looking at the sight of the diagonal row crossing over the sky, I remembered the flock of white birds. 

(Those white birds looked like a flowing river too...) 

Deneb: So many things have happened that I ended up causing some mayhem. Fufufu. 

I looked towards Deneb-san after he said that... 

Deneb: This is my way of apologizing for surprising you... Well, there's no reason for me to say that. 

Suddenly, Deneb-san took something out of his pocket. 

MC: This is...

It was a tiny crown that was adorned with a shiny star... 

Deneb: I thought that this would look good on you.

As he happily said that, he gently placed the tiny crown on my head. 

MC: Deneb-san... 

When Deneb-san caught my chin with his index finger, he made me look at him. As I was looking at his mischievous eyes within the close distance, my heart skipped a beat. 

MC: Y-Yes. It sure does... 

Deneb: You know... Even though you're a princess, you're like a normal girl. 

MC: Eh... 

(Him saying that gives me mixed feelings...)

Then, Deneb-san chuckled as if he knew what I was thinking. 

Deneb: That's why, I... I wanted to try meeting you, not as a prince. 

MC: Eh? 

Deneb: I just wanted to do it as a normal man. 

MC: Deneb-san... 

Deneb: From the start, when I met you in town, I did it as a joke, but you saw through me right away. But, I had so much fun going on a date with you...

MC: A date... 

Deneb: Yeah. It was more fun than all the other things I've done up till now... That's why. I thought that if you met me as a prince, you wouldn't be able to see the real me, that's what I wanted to show you more. As a result, I ended up dragging you around all over the place. 

As my face was bright red, I couldn't bring myself to look away as I was looking at Deneb-san. 

Deneb: Of course, I feel bad for making you anxious even now... But, I don't regret doing all of that. If I weren't a prince, I would've been able to go on a date with you like today from now on. ...Or do you want to go on another secret date with me? 

MC: ...! 

Deneb-san's sudden proposal made me perplexed on what I should say... 

Deneb: We won't go back until you give me an answer. 

Suddenly, Deneb-san made a serious look. I was being reflected in those eyes as they were shining like the stars... 

MC: Yes... I'd be glad to. 

Charmed by that sparkle, I responded without realizing it. 

Deneb: Really!? That makes me happy!

Deneb-san smiled very happily. 

Deneb: ...That's a promise, MC-chan. 

Underneath the stars that were moving across brightly... As birds were chirping altogether as if they were having a secret conversation... Deneb-san placed a soft kiss on my cheek...
