Chapter 6 - Connected Hands

Within the sunlight that was shining through the trees, Miya pulled my hand as he was walking quickly to the castle. 

Even though we weren't talking to each other, the atmosphere felt warm. Just as we were close to the castle, Miya suddenly spoke. 

Miya: Thanks, MC-chan. 

MC: Eh? 

When he turned around, he gripped my hand tightly.

As I looked at Miya in surprise, he looked down in embarrassment.

Miya: What's wrong?

??: Go to Prince Ilia's room.

Just as my hand was about to open the door to Ilia-san's room...

The sorcerer summoned a ball of flames in his hand and threw it at Miya.

Miya shrugged his shoulders. 

Sorcerer: Dammit..!

The sorcerer clicked his tongue in frustration and began to chant a spell. 

MC: Eh...!

Miya: MC-chan!

Darkness surrounded me and wrapped itself tightly around my neck. 

(I can't breathe...!) 

Miya: ...Let her go!

Sorcerer: Prince Miya, hand it over. 

Miya: ... 

Miya gripped the contract in his hand. 

MC: Mi... ya... Don't... 

I tried to stop Miya, but...

MC: ...!

The strength around my neck became stronger. 

Miya: MC-chan! Dammit... Here! This is what you wan, right!? Just hurry and let her go!!

When Miya threw the contract to the ground, the sorcerer picked it up and disappeared in the darkness. At the same time, I was able to breathe again. 

Miya: MC-chan!

As I was coughing, Miya ran up to me and helped me up.

Miya: It's not your fault. 

While holding my shoulder, he caressed my cheek to reassure me. The warmth of his hand only increased the pain... 

Last Chapter - The One with You...

After the incident.. The other kingdom wanted to relook at the treaty. Since this kingdom lost the signed contract, it's position has weakned and when Ilia-san returned from his travels, another meeting about the topic has begun. Since Miya took all the responsibility, he was placed under house arrest. 

(Why, Miya didn't do anything wrong. It was my fault...) 

When the situation was explained to the queen, she firmly insisted that it was Miya's fault.

I couldn't sit still, so I headed to Miya's room. 

Guard: MC-sama, please go back. Right now, Miya-sama is... 

MC: I know... But, it was my fault. So, please!

I deeply lowered my head to the guard that was standing in front of Miya's room. 

Guard: ...Just keep this a secret from the queen. 

MC: Thank you very much!

After the guard moved away, I took a deep breath and knocked on the door. 

Miya: ...Who is it? 

MC: Miya... It's me. 

Miya: MC-chan!? 

The door opened and Miya showed himself. When I looked at his face, he looked like he was crying. 

Miya: MC-chan. Why...? That guy played smart. 

When Miya said that, he looked at the guard that was standing here. 

Miya: Come in. Sorry, even though I called you over here, you ended up getting involved with this sort of thing. 

Miya made his usual smile. Although, that sunlike smile lost it's shine. 

MC: I'm really sorry, it's my fault...

Miya: No matter how many times you say that, it's not your fault. Also, Ilia has returned. He'll settle this matter. 

He raised his head and forced himself to smile. 

MC: Miya...!

Unable to stand that expression, I ended up hugging him. 

Miya: MC-chan...? 

MC: Why...? You didn't do anything bad at all. 

Miya: It's fine. I was the one that let him get away. 

Miya gently wrapped his hands around my back and hugged me.
