Chapter 1 - The Evening and the Violin

Kingdom of Poison, Telsot, June... 

After the rain, the sunlight made the raindrops shine as they were falling from the tree leaves...

When Raith-san invited me to his kingdom, I arrived at the meet up spot and looked up at the red sky. 

(This is where we're meeting, right?) 

In the town, it was bustling with a lot of people now that the rain was over. On the opposite side of the street, a crowd had gathered around where a violin was playing a beautiful song. 

(Such a pretty melody... Huh?) 

When I looked over to where the violin was playing, I felt like I've seen that person somewhere before. 

MC: Excuse me. 

I pushed my way through the people and when I made it to the front... 

MC: Ah!? 

I let out a shout. When the sound of the violin stopped, that person looked over here and smiled. 

Raith: MC!

MC: Raith-san...!

I was unable to hide my surprise from seeing a prince being in a place like this so naturally. 

Raith: When I was playing to pass the time, people ended up gathering around. Wait for a bit. Everyone seems to be enjoying it, so just one more song. 

As he made a carefree smile, he placed the bow on the violin again. When he played a lively melody, people started to dance one after another.

I watched him as he was having fun playing the violin among the crowd.

When I looked up at the clock in the room, I checked the time.

Just as his brother was about to get dragged into his bed, he pulled himself out of that arm by force. 

Raith's Brother: Why must you always be like this! You need to be more aware as a prince!

With half-opened eyes, Raith-san listlessly raised his upper body. 

Raith: It's fine, Brother. No matter what, the superior 4 brothers will lead the kingdom to make it praiseworthy. 

While not caring about his brother's anger, Raith-san lets out a big yawn. 

Raith's Brother: What are you saying! To make this kingdom abundant, the people of the royal family strive to give happy lives to the people as their duty. Seriously, you!

As his brother's face turned red with anger, he left the room. After I bowed to his brother and saw him off, I slowly approached Raith-san.

When he extended his arm, he softly placed his hand on my cheek. 

MC: ...

My cheeks became warm from such a natural gesture. 

Raith: Last night, I drank too much. I'll get ready soon.

Raith-san was suddenly behind me. When he extended his hand from behind me, he touched the white background of the canvas lovingly. 

Raith: When I was taking an afternoon nap, the sunlight looked so beautiful as it was shining through the trees. 

When Raith-san's chest touched my back, my heart became noisy. 

Raith: I thought about putting the finishing touches on it this evening. 

As I was unable to turn around, I continued watching Raith-san's index finger. 

Raith: The sunlight today is white. I feel that'll finish it off beautifully.

Just as the butler said that, he noticed me and became silent.

After hearing something like that, I got up from the bench. My eyes met with Raith-san's over his brother's shoulder.

Raith-san showed a smile as he was looking at me. After noticing that, his brother looked over here and awkwardly left. 

Raith: ...Did that surprise you? 

Raith-san slowly walked over here. 

Raith: Father has fainted. This is the first time that something like this has happened, so everyone is on edge. I thought that if I played the violin, it might give Father some reassurance. 

MC: The king's condition is... 

Raith: He's all right. The doctor's there, so everything has settled down now. 

MC: That's good... 

Raith: But, my brothers are starting to fight over the succession of the throne. 

Through the glass window, we saw Raith-san's brother arguing with someone. 

Raith: Sorry, even though I wanted you to enjoy the beautiful season at ease...
