Chapter 4 - The Fortune Teller's True Intentions
-Flashback-
Fortune Teller: Head to the eastern oasis.
-Flashback-
The next morning... Sharon did what the fortune teller said and took me to the eastern oasis by force.
Sharon: Some~how, thinking about it now, that guy seemed suspicious.
MC: T-Then, why are you doing what he said?
Sharon: Well, you see... What if there really is something there! Besides, I need you to grant my wish!
MC: Like I said, you got the wrong-
The moment I said that...
MC: !!
Suddenly, a sandstorm whirled up and trapped me in it.
Sharon: Miss Genie!?
When Sharon grabbed me, I didn't get trapped in the sandstorm just barely.
??: Tsk...
Sharon: You're...!!
Along with clicking his tongue, the fortune teller from yesterday showed himself from the sand dune.
Fortune Teller: You fools. I didn't think that you would really believe me and come here.
Sharon: What is the meaning of this!?
Fortune Teller: The power that woke up Prince Sharon... There's no mistaking that it was someone from the royal family of Traumerei. I was thinking that she would bring in a good amount of money if I sold her.
Sharon: Don't screw with me! Miss Genie belongs to me!
Fortune Teller: Hmph... I'll show you the power of a sand wizard.
When the fortune teller played the flute, countless snakes appeared from the sand.
Sharon: Kyaaaaah!!
Sharon's scream echoed throughout the desert...
Last Chapter - A Genie's Duty
Sharon: Gyaaaaah!!
Sharon's scream echoed throughout the desert...
MC: ...!
The countless snakes attacked us.
Sharon: Dammit! They're just snakes made out of sand! That surprised me!
When Sharon bit his lip, he cleared away the sand snakes with his dagger.
(What should I do...)
When the fortune teller played his flute, the sand snakes appeared and attacked us.
(I need to do something about that flute...!)
Sharon: Miss Genie!?
As Sharon was taking care of the sand snakes, I ran towards the sand dune that the fortune teller was standing at.
Fortune Teller: ...!
While he was focused on playing the flute, the fortune teller was too late in noticing my movements.
Sharon: You did it! Miss Genie!
Sharon cut the flute into two with a single stroke and it fell on top of the sand.
Fortune Teller: You...!
MC: ...!
The moment the fortune teller raised his hand against me...
Sharon: Don't you dare touch my Miss Genie!
Sharon got in between us as fast as the wind and pointed his blade towards the fortune teller.
Fortune Teller: Kuh...
Sharon: Ready yourself!
Fortune Teller: ...Tsk.
When the fortune teller held up his hand, a sandstorm whirled up and surrounded him. The next moment, when the sandstorm stopped, he was no longer there...
Sharon: He got away.
MC: That person was...?
Sharon: He said that he was a sand wizard. In other words, a sorcerer that can manipulate sand. Even so...
Sharon held both of my hands firmly.
Sharon: Thanks, Miss Genie! It's thanks to you that I was saved! You really are a genie! Now, make me rich!
MC: L-Like I said, you got the wrong idea... Also. Why do you need money...? Even though you're a prince, you do work.
Sharon: It's because I want to make the town abundant!
MC: The town...
I remembered the lonely town that we stayed in yesterday.
Sharon: The desert environment is harsh. I want to make it easier for everyone to live in and I want to install some proper equipment. But, even I have a big family in my household. We work as hard as we can for our own livelihoods. Since I'm the youngest son and have the most freedom, I've been aiming to get rich quickly.
MC: So, that's why...
Seeing the usually cheerful Sharon making a bit of a sad face gave me a painful feeling.
MC: ...I'm sorry. That I couldn't be of any help.
Sharon: It's all right, well, let's go.
MC: G-Go...?
Sharon: What are you saying? Until the genie grants a wish, she has to stay by the protagonist's side.
MC: Eeh!?
Sharon: Your powers might return someday. It can't be helped, so in the meantime, let's go make some money by escorting the caravan as usual!
Sharon showed his white teeth as he smiled cheerfully.
(H-He still believes in that!?)
Sharon: Now, let's go! My Miss Genie!!
Underneath the hot sun in the vast desert, while looking at his smile, I thought that it would've been better if I were a real genie...
