Chapter 1 - The Foulmouthed Prince

Kingdom of Judgement, Arbitro, November... 

After getting an invitation from the prince that I've awakened, I visited the beautiful town with stone steps in the Kingdom of Judgement, Arbitro. When I arrived at the meet up spot, I looked up at the elegant chapel's bell town and... 

Adiel: Ah, you finally came! The benefactor of my life. 

I turned towards that cheerful shout. 

Adiel: Thank you so much for waking me up! Even though I called you over because I wanted to thank you... Wasn't it a long trip? 

When the young man's wings shook as he ran over here, he held both of my hands as his sincere eyes blinked. 

MC: Yes, but it was all right. 

Adiel: I see, that's good. Ah, let me introduce myself... I'm Adiel. What's your name? When you woke me up, we didn't get to talk properly since I was in a hurry...

Adiel-kun's expression became clouded up apologetically. 

MC: It's MC. 

Adiel: MC... Nice to meet you!

MC: Yes. 

Adiel: Ah, even so, what a relief. It wouldn't be good if I didn't return the favor!!

When his eyes made a serious look next, he stared at me. As they shined so absorbingly, they showed how passionate he was.

As Adiel-kun was giving me a tour of the Kingdom of Judgement, we arrived at a nearby gloomy forest that was outside of town before we knew it.

Adiel-kun's expression instantly turned pale.

When I followed his gaze, a child was frolicking around near the area where barbed wires were strung up.

Adiel-kun that was right beside me just now moved quickly and held the child from behind.

When the child flailed around roughly and was unable to escape as he was being held tightly, Adiel-kun's expression changed as he shouted.

Adiel: No buts! Don't you know that this is a dangerous place!?

Child: Uwaah, scary!

Adiel: Wah, eh, d-don't cry! I'm just saying that you'll be in big trouble if you go in there. 

Adiel-kun made a bewildered look as he held the child. 

MC: Um, Adiel-kun, I'm pretty sure that you just surprised him. Since you got mad so suddenly... 

Adiel: O-Of course, I'm mad!

Child: U-Uwaaaah!

Adiel: Uu... 

As Adiel-kun made a troubled face, he looked at me for help. 

MC: It's okay. Adiel-kun was just worried about you. 

Child: Uu, *sniff*, really? 

MC: Yes, really. Right, Adiel-kun? 

Adiel: Y-Yeah... That's right. 

Then, just as the child calmed down. 

MC: Don't go into places that you're not allowed to go into anymore, okay? 

Child: Okay. 

I watched Adiel-kun put down the child. The child ran off to town like a rabbit running away soon after. 

Adiel: Once you learned about what you've done, don't come near this place no matter what!

Adiel-kun shouted that at the child as a reminder. Although, the child left without turning back. 

Adiel: At least respond...

A few days later... Every day, Adiel-kun has been looking after me.

Adiel-kun's determination made my heart tighten in pain. 

Adiel: I'm the one who made Lucien's wings turn black. Truthfully speaking, my wings should've turned black instead...

When he said that earnestly as if he was squeezing that out from the bottom of his stomach, my heart heated up even more. 

MC: ...What happens when their wings turn black? 

Adiel: All they do is turn black... But, black wings give off a bad feeling.... So, they get hated for that. 

At the end of Adiel-kun's words, he said that softly as if he was hesitant to speak. 

(Discriminating them just because of how they look... That's... so sad.) 

Adiel: That is why I only want to do stuff for Lucien's sake. That's my only obligation. 

MC: Adiel-kun... 

Adiel: He tells me to stop it like from when I tried to do what he did when I was a brat back then. I would imitate what he likes to do by feeding the birds and singing his favorite songs with them... It's my fault that Lucien is unable to do what he truly wants anymore. 

MC: I see... 

Adiel: Everyone around says that they're like the leavings of a goldfish, but... What's wrong with that?

Even after loosening up his grip, Adiel-kun wouldn't let go of my hand.

I squeezed his warm hand back.

When I thought about that, Adiel-kun's face brightened up energetically in front of me.

Adiel: It's Lucien's messenger. 

He turned towards the servant that was approaching us. 

Servan: Adiel-sama, Lucien-sama is calling for you. 

Adiel: It's rare for him to be calling for me. Sorry, can I go? It might be something urgent. 

As he made an apologetic look, he was unable to hide how happy he sounded. 

MC: Yes, of course. 

Adiel: Sorry. I'll make it up to you! I will!

After saying that, Adiel-kun spreads out his wings widely and flew off. 

He looked really beautiful as I saw him off... 

(Come to think of it... It would be sad if such beautiful wings like that turn black.)

As I watched him disappear into the blue sky, my heart felt pain from that thought...
