Chapter 5 - Remaining Words

I woke up due to the cold. Kairi-san was already dressed and was looking down at me as I was on the bed. 

MC: Kairi-san? 

Kairi: Do you think that I'm a bad person? 

MC: ...? Not really. 

Kairi-san became reassured for some odd reason. Although, just as I was thinking that he was acting unusual, his expression instantly turned stern again. 

Kairi: MC, stay in the room for today. Don't go outside no matter what. 

MC: ...I understand. 

(Even though I just nodded, for some reason, the way Kairi-san is behaving is...?)

Kairi: I'm going out for a bit. You... You really are like her. 

After saying that, Kairi-san left the hideout and went into the late night...

Kairi: You... You really are like her.

-Flashback-

(Kairi-san was acting really strange earlier for some reason.) 

Just as I was accepting everything, I remembered how he sounded somewhat relieved. I couldn't help, but feel uneasy.

Mystery Man: You came alone just as promised.

The man pulled out a gun from underneath his cloak and placed his finger on the trigger. 

MC: Kairi-san!!

Kairi: MC!? Why are you here...!

Mystery Man: Don't let them escape!

MC: ...!

A man with an eyepatch that was near the leader followed that order and rushed in to capture me. 

Kairi: I won't let you!

When Kairi-san immediately sets off his small gun, he made the man with the eyepatch flinch and grabbed my hand. 

Kairi: Run, MC!

 Right at that moment, as the group was causing a commotion from behind, I ran off with Kairi-san as he was protecting me...

When we shook those guys off, Kairi-san took me to a building in town to hide in. 

Kairi: Why did you follow me! Do you want to die!?

MC: I'm sorry... I just wanted to know what was going on. 

Kairi-san frowned in pain and then... 

MC: Ah...

Kairi-san hugged my body tight.

Kairi: ...Can you not get inside me like this. I want to be alone... Yet. 

MC: ...

When Kairi-san released me from his embrace, he thought about something from what I said. After a while, when we looked at each other...

He placed his hand on my cheek. 

Kairi: ...This time, I'll protect you. 

Kairi-san's reddish-brown eyes trembled with determination. 

MC: Okay. 

When I pushed away the pain and showed a smile, he hugged me tightly again. 

(As a sister, but...) 

If that'll be enough to save Kairi-san, then that's fine. As I was in his arms, I wished that there'll be a day for him to rest someday...
